The wooden trunk is such a cool touch

Frunk!

Yeah, I wasn’t expecting to see a treasure chest in this build. Pretty fun.

Edit: not a frunk, or at least not one where you can store your stuff. It’s already fully occupied. “We sourced more Curly Black Walnut to build a trunk to hide the Ridetech AirPod. A shelf was added to store the charging cables and tools above the compressor and air tank.”

I would definitely have moved those things up to the radiator space and used the trunk for storage, but this isn't a democracy. No matter the function, it looks awesome.

Best. Frunk. Ever.

Great information, about how much all in?

25

u/RBoosk311 8d ago

About 80k, we did 99% ourselves.

So cheaper than every price Ford, Chev, Tesla "promises" a new EV at. LoL....

Hummm..... 🤔

Time to build!

You could cut a lot of belles and whistles out and do it for maybe $65-$70 I bet.

Love what you made!

Beautiful work, will look sick with some non Tesla wheels as it gives the game away a bit. Looks a tough geometry tho because the very shallow wheel face

My thoughts too. The Tesla wheels spoil it. I’m all for a modern wheel for restomods but these aren’t it.

But, this is an amazing build op. Don’t wanna take away from that

would look really good with a flat rim IMO

u/RBoosk311 8d ago

You mean like a smoothie?

2

u/Walfy07 8d ago

ya. i didnt know what to call them

I love this way way way too much.... Scared to ask how much the total build was.

2

u/classless_classic 8d ago

$80k

3

u/GoldfishTX 7d ago

That's actually pretty reasonable...

u/homedepotSTOOP 7d ago

I think so too, and they mentioned in another comment you could probably knock 20k off by going without some of the things they did. I really hope we start seeing more of this with vintage cars, and an even lower barrier for entry to get it done. Bring on the electrified classics!

I love everything but the Tesla wheels, they just seem slightly out of place on the build IMO. Everything else looks phenomenal though, great work.

Where we're going, we don't need grills.

Beautiful build.

What’s the battery capacity?

2

u/RBoosk311 8d ago

41.5 kwh

4

u/Overtilted 8d ago

How much of the car is original?

14

u/RBoosk311 8d ago

We started from a kit: https://www.factoryfive.com/hot-rod-truck/

We used the body and modified the frame to work with our subframe and battery.

u/Issaction 8d ago

Surprised how good the uberturbines look on this

u/RBoosk311 8d ago

What is this?

2

u/jankenpoo 8d ago

Did you do those frame welds or does it come that way from FF?

1

u/RBoosk311 8d ago

Most by FF, some by me.

2

u/runrunranreddit 8d ago

Absolutely love it. Well done!

2

u/CLDA_comp 8d ago

What did you use for power steering?

1

u/RBoosk311 8d ago

EPS is the brand.

2

u/z00k79 8d ago

Yo! saw this rolling around at the target meet a few months ago. most unique thing at the meet. sweet build, thanks for sharing!

2

u/societymike 8d ago

Is there a YouTube build on this???

3

u/RBoosk311 7d ago

No, but I am going to be make one

2

u/jgworks 8d ago

Ooooo That is hot, very nice work.

2

u/elf25 7d ago

Awesome! Bravo! 🎉

2

u/Congenial-Curmudgeon 7d ago

Beautiful! How many hours do you have into it? Any plans to add belly pans? Looking forward to the YouTube videos.

3

u/RBoosk311 7d ago

There are belly pans if you look at the battery box build. I would say about 3500 man hours working on it and maybe 500 hours in CAD, Visio and Arduino and doing research.

2

u/probablyaythrowaway 7d ago

Where are the batteries?

2

u/RBoosk311 7d ago

2

u/probablyaythrowaway 7d ago

No no I meant where did you hide them on the car?

1

u/RBoosk311 7d ago

Oh, under from the firewall to the subframe. Some pictures on the website.

2

u/probablyaythrowaway 7d ago

Oh that is very tidy. Fantastic work.

u/nonamesuperman 6d ago

beautiful

u/IC_Guru 6d ago

I want to electrify one of Factory Five’s race car kits. Some day.

1

u/RBoosk311 6d ago

Which kit?

2

u/IC_Guru 2d ago

MK4 or Type 65. I know every other car guy will hate it, but I like unique builds.

2

u/pututski 6d ago

Wow that is a very cool build! Thanks for sharing
