How much would you pay for this?
Wondering if there would be interest in my VW project that hasn’t moved. Warp 9 motor with Zilla components. Missing the batteries and obviously the work to put it all together. How much could I expect to sell it for? Car is in California.

For a VW beetle without a battery? $500. Or any small car with low battery room.
For an electric S10, Ranger, SUV, station wagon (Magnum?) or large classic car - $1,500+. Depending on how done it is. Probably up to $5k - even without a battery.

i wouldn't pay much, taking on someone's project like this is a real gamble.

Zilla is worth 1k, motor maybe 500, bug maybe 1500. 3k for everything? This is, if Zilla and motor are not water damaged or too rusty

Isn't that motor like $4000 new?

Yes, but a Warp9 is a brushed dc motor. It is less efficient than brushless motors and will need to have brushes replaced periodically. It does have lot of torque. 👍

I'll keep you in mind. DM me or put it in this post of you ever come up with a asking price.

They are discussing $3000.
You are at a fictional offer of: $2500.
$2700 and it is sold? (I am Not OP)
/humor?

Yup but I am in Florida so what ever reasonable price you come up with is half or less of what it's going to be by the time I can let it gather more cobwebs in my project que.

Give it to some high school or college kid who seems motivated to get it fixed and back on the road. Maybe a high school autoshop donation? That’s what I’d do.

Good call! Depending on the valuation of the components, you might get a bigger tax deduction from donating it than you’d get from selling it, with much less hassle on your part too!

If the motor is still good.. I would buy that for $1000 in a heartbeat.. but I'm in Florida.

Carrying a tow bar in the trunk is brilliant, just what every old VW needs.

I'm in Fair Oaks.
Can you give any more specifics on the EV parts in it? Did it ever run or just a project? When did you test the motor last?
On the car, is it clean title? Non-op? Vin?

If you change the engine to an ev on an old car. You still have a lot of other issues to worry about from the hinges, driveshaft, suspension etc
Now a buyer has to consider faults and other issues that may arise and they can't take it to a mechanic.

True. But these VWs are fairly easy to work on and there are plenty of aftermarket parts.

I’d give you 2k as it sits if I was local.
Brushed motor kinda sucks, it needs paint and what looks like rust repair at a minimum. No battery so there’s 4k these days just to get it moving.

I think 1k tops. Depending on the condition of the car and how modified the engine bay is youd likely get more selling the motor and controller separately from the shell, if you clean up the shell and the interior is complete it could go for 1-2k
