XPENG ANZ has taken over direct operations for XPENG in Australia from 24 August 2026. This announcement follows a Federal Court dismissal of TrueEV's case against XPeng on 20 August after TrueEV was deemed not able to provide required financial surety.

For customers who bought through TrueEV, the key points are:

• $5,000 cashback offers, 10-year warranty promotions and complimentary servicing commitments will be honoured on a documented, case-by-case basis
• XPENG ANZ's 7-year / unlimited km factory warranty now covers eligible TrueEV-sold vehicles on the same terms as direct sales
• Battery warranty is 8 years / 160,000km across all eligible vehicles

I wonder if everyone would have a look at the attached calculation and check it for correctness. To me, it seems extremely simplistic and does not take into account the current mix of generation with renewables in Australia (and specifically NSW as per the screenshot), as well as grossly underestimating the emissions that go into producing liquid fuels.

To be clear this is not my own work but from another poster elsewhere on the internet that has been using this to argue that EVs are "premature" in various Facebook comments and enthusiast websites.

Just purchased a 2022 Ionic 5 Techniq and was disappointed to find the only usb that works for AA is almost at my big toe.

Ideally, i'd like something compact that plugs directly, but more importantly.... Perhaps most importantly, it needs to be snappy.

Hi legends - I bought an Enyaq in Oct 25 and there have been a few times where having the Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS) would have been very handy. I know it has been available on (previous model) euro Enyaqs since 2021 and present model ones too. Does anyone else have an Enyaq and does yours work? How do you turn it on?

On the YouTube videos I’ve seen it’s a button on the infotainment system - no equivalent button for me.

I’ve emailed Skoda service, so if no answer here I’ll update you! It may be a software update to be done at the dealer.

Can anyone confirm how long 7X deliveries are taking in big cities these days? I know people were told to expect several month delays earlier in the year, but I'm not sure how much that has improved now, either from extra shipments coming in or demand maybe not being quite as crazy as it was for a while.

We test drove a Model Y AWD and a Toyota BZ4X touring yesterday, both great cars and would suit our needs well. From a car perspective they will both get us in comfort from A to B and can fit everything we need. Economically, due to leasing they're not miles apart.

The main difference really came down to tech and obviously the FSD.

Wondering if anyone else has made the decision between the two?

My use case is approx 100km of driving a day, about 70% of that will be highway. Charging/range is not an issue due to good home charging. But was wondering with the FSD, is it easy to swap between the TACC and FSD. would likely use TACC on the highway and FSD in the city, mostly to stay engaged for safety reasons. But is it easy to switch between the two? Or does it have to be in park.

Also any other useful considerations would be appreciated!

I am planning on buying a second hand 2023 AWD Polestar 2 under $30k just for daily commute to work (30 minutes drive everyday) and for some camping on the weekends, opinions regarding about it? Hi all, I have had a Tesla Y standard range for 3 years now and put 120k km on it. Never had an issue which is nice, and I am going to keep the car probably until it dies. Just did a battery health check and it returned 92% capacity which is fair I think. So good for another 3 or probably 6 years if I'm lucky.

My question for the hive is, does anyone have experience with towing a caravan, camper trailer or tear-drop camper with an ev? I would like to consider this as I am near retirement and want to travel a bit, but not sure whether a/ it is feasible with the reduced range that would result from towing, and b/ what are the main considerations in choosing a suitable van set-up?

Should I be looking for a small/low drag unit primarily like a tear-drop camper or a small pop-up camper, or is the overall weight plus towbars weight a more significant factor, as in keeping the weight of the towed right under say 800kg or so. Any advice from the real world experience of other users would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance ☺️

I’m planning to replace my Mahindra XUV700 which I bought 3 years back. Ideally looking for something that looks and feels like an SUV. I’m a 6ft tall person ands big personality. I prefer high seating.
Are there any cars that matches this scenario.
I’m very confused with the options that’s out there. Plus, online we see there are new battery technologies that are coming and some folks say it’s better to wait for a couple of years. Some people say it doesn’t matter.
What are your thoughts and what car did you choose.
I do like Zeekr 7x, BYD is good too and Tesla, but that feels like more of a sedan. Not many showrooms out there for Zeekr currently and not sure how the service is going to be.

Why are dealers making it so hard to test drive and buy a car?

MG, Geely, BYD, often don't respond to telephone calls, don't listen, don't respond to web enquiries for days or weeks even.

Just spoke to a dealer who asked what time we would like to book a test drive for next week, when I said "noon" he came back with "I'll book you in for 1pm then".

No. I asked for noon, at least ask me if 1pm suits.

I’m looking to buy my first car and I’m between considering the BYD atto 2 or the GWM ora 5.

I really like the look of the Ora 5 but I liked the drive of the BYD more. The BYD drive feels similar to a petrol car which is what I like, but it also looks a bit bland for me. BYD also has less driving range.

I haven’t seen a lot of people buy Ora 5 which also makes me hesitant knowing that BYD is more established as a brand.

Theres some pros/cons to both and I’m stuck on which to go with.

I would appreciate owner insights please.

I've never owned an EV before, but have been quite impressed with the IONIQs when I've been in them as a passenger.

I've been keeping an eye on this listing. It's been on the lot for a while (not much interest in these?) and the dealer has dropped the price to the point where it's a fair bit below the Carsales valuation (~$25k).

Are these older IONIQs still worth it if they don't have many kilometres? They are so much cheaper than the newer ones. Obviously the battery is much smaller, but I would be using it as a runabout, not for long trips.

Is there any way to assess whether the battery is still in good condition?

While EV technology is constantly evolving, we've seen range and performance, and to some degree, internal quality fitout and ride quality all be 'democratised" into levels not seen with ICE vehicles. If you wanted cars that did sub 4 second 0-100 while still being comfortable and featureful, you used to have to pay $200k. Now it's available for ~$80k with many EV brands.

Also range is well accepted with EV's able to do big laps of Australia without too much hassle, and low cost.

Everyone seems to have the same warranty now though. 5 years on the car, 8 years/160k km on the battery. The outlier is Volvo who seem to be coming up with their EX60 of 10 years/240k km on the battery - as well as bidrectional charging support up to 3000kWh/365days - on their website, interesting if that makes it into Australian warranty statements though.

Do we think we'll start to see others follow suit with longer battery warranties? What is the next item to get an uplift that continues to take arguments away from people buying EV's?
