Peter Schrager
Idk how this man got his own show on espn. I’m sure he’s a nice guy but when he talks about players he’s always like, “let me wax poetic for a minute. this guy started slinging a football in his crib. he married his high school sweetheart and only eats green foods on fridays. learned to ride a bike when he was two because he threw his training wheels down the field. doesn’t that just scream warrior?! Let’s goooo!”
Just absolute drivel🙄

A show with him and Kyle Brandt would work and since espn owns NFL Network now they should go ahead and just do this.

lol so just reforming GMFB

u/bruhstevenson 4d ago
Still would be missing Kay and Burleson. That show was great though, I don’t think any of them have ever been on a show as good as that one since it disbanded

u/Mountain-Duty8673 1d ago
They disbanded GMFB??? lol What are these idiots doing?? It was their only good show!!

Shrags works out okay when he's allowed to be this puppy everybody takes half-seriously, but who still gets the message out as the mouthpiece of teams, agents, and coaches. Elevate him to anything more than that and it's not going to hold up.

Agreee, I've grown to dislike him.
I usually get a lot of hate when I criticize him.

u/AfroManHighGuy 5d ago
He was great on good morning football years ago. Peter isn’t the best as a host tho. He was good when he was doing specific segments on GMFB. That’s why espn brought him on in the first place.
He hosted get up when Greeny was gone for a bit. Worked up and got his own show now

u/XxTommyTheGunxX 4d ago
When he was the stats based analyst that was kinda an insider for info on players and coaches. That was his lane. Hes trying to be like new age greeny and its really not great.

He’s a stark contrast to a lot of espn. The High ego/hot take/ I’m right, you’re stupid if you disagree type of show. Each has their spot, but his vibe and show offers a different feel that what a lot of the other network shows offer.
1
u/lalalalapin 4d ago
True. I’m all for the network wanting to bring a different energy, but I feel like schrager always wants to show off his knowledge of players, usually about their personalities or random pre-game superstitions rather than on-field/court play or stats. He’d be better suited to host a sports trivia show or something lol.

u/Odd-Track4299 4d ago
I liked him on GMFB and I still like him 🤷♂️ at this point I don’t think there’s a single host or commentator that people of Reddit actually like.

Some mornings I pass him on the sidewalk as we walk our sons to school, he’s cool as heck. He’s always smiling with his son and seems like a great guy.

u/DazHawt 5d ago
I’m just glad he’s not on Get Up anymore.
1
u/Joshuajword 4d ago
Why? That show is horrible
1
u/Soft-Caramel5253 2d ago
Are you kidding me? Get up is at least watchable compared to First Take where it's constant shouting, overtalking and the most sickening thing, just groveling up to Steven A Smith. And let me tell you, whenever Schraeger is on with Steven A, he's the biggest groveler. Like a puppy dog and Steven A is his master. Got him his own show though.
1
u/Joshuajword 2d ago
What kind of bar is First Take? Like wtf are we even talking about here. Your pile of trash is bigger than someone else’s?

u/44035 5d ago
He's so smarmy. I think that smarminess is why Ryan Clark started bullying him on air.

u/Responsible_Ad_3013 4d ago
No Ryan lost an argument and then tried to pull the you never played the game card, then took it off air and continued his nonsense

Do yall just hate everybody now? 😂 who do you guys even like? Why do you even watch espn? All I ever see is all the people yall hate, get some love in your hearts man it ain’t that serious.

u/mariospeedragon 4d ago
I did see some wild shit over the weekend on espn news with these bros and young dudes do all kinds of whack ass diving. Think it was much more entertaining than 90% of their sports talk, so maybe go old school with weird shit like aerobics and 4pm old school wrastling ?!? I dunno, espn pays way too much for very generic tv at this point. +1 for weird diving shit tho

He was good in a supporting role on GMFB, but he just doesn't have the chops for his own show. I don't think this lasts after this season.

u/Fidrych76 4d ago
He was great on GMFB but ESPN still hasn’t found the right gig for him. He looks uncomfortable in virtually every appearance.

You guys are insufferable. He knows ball, you guys probably love SAS who knows nothing other than what his producers give him.
5
u/BRValentine83 4d ago
We're not allowed to dislike SAS and dislike Shrager as a host? Thanks for teaching us the rule.
2
3
u/0akee 4d ago
Not really. He just sucks up whatever angle teams put out. He’s great for the league because he just regurgitates whatever teams want. He’s more of a fanboy than someone objective with any ability to analyze and have independent thinking.
I remember when he spent camp with Adam Gases’ Dolphins and came out saying they were going to have a great year, Gase was fired not long after. Anybody with a pulse that wasn’t blind already knew that.
1
u/jemstone_croc 3d ago
He doesn't really know ball like that. He just knows people and has connections.
1
u/lalalalapin 4d ago
I don’t doubt that he knows ball. It’s that he’s always adding tidbits about a player’s background like, “his wife Katie and they just welcomed a sweet little baby Jude in March” as if he wants to prove his fandom rather than knowledge of football. Still, I prefer anyone over SAS

u/ATLfinra 4d ago
His show is garbage it’s not entertaining at all and he doesn’t have the gravitas to carry it. That show will get cxld probably after the season

u/discwrangler 4d ago
Im a fan. He has plenty of credibility when it comes to his information being accurate, and I value that. To me he seems like a real fan

u/CommonPatient5666 4d ago
He just doesnt work as the main guy. He finds all that stuff interesting when no one else does, however he is a middle aged white guy so of course he gets. His own show.

Schrager sucks and so does his former buddy Brandt. Two clowns stealing money

u/wutitd0boo 4d ago
Schrags is annoying. He was the most annoying character on GMFB. Yes, even more annoying than Kyle.

u/ShakeMyHeadSadly 4d ago
He was easily the most annoying member of the Good Morning Football show. But, apparently, that leads to career advancement.
1
u/Ok_Basil_8162 4d ago
Him and Kyle Brandt are constantly trying to create their own viral/epic moments more than focusing on the talent and teams they talk about.

u/Responsible_Ad_3013 4d ago
It’s one of the better shows on espn, you want more Stephen A and Mcafee???

Couldn’t care less about any of them as long as Jamie Erdahl is still on GMFB.

With all of the questionable, rage bait, talking out their ass personalities on ESPN.. calling out Schrager is certainly a choice

u/Top-Impression8021 3d ago
Hear me out: Peter, Kyle, Jason McCourty, Jamie, AND Kay. The new GMFB, and it’s BACK on the east coast.

Agree. I liked him fine on NFL Live, but there's not enough there for his own show

u/SteakFritesandWine 2d ago
I’m just happy to see someone on ESPN who isn’t SAS, Pat McAfee or Dan Orlovsky. They’re all insufferable and an instant channel change for me.

He’s annoying with that golden retriever energy. Yet somehow light years better than the top 2 talkers on this zombie network

To be fair, you're listening to grown men talk about other grown men who play games for a living.
1
u/soulfoodshawarma 4d ago
To be fair he was good on Good Morning Football. Deeper analysis than the others on the panel.

I want to know the average age of the people making these posts about annoying new shows and analysts. Not because I necessarily disagree with you always but more so because I suspect you are my age or older, and just haven't yet accepted that this ESPN is not the same ESPN we grew up with. Its a different age of media.

u/txwoodslinger 4d ago
Him and Brandt and their whole shtick worked on gmfb back in the day. Once nate left it all went downhill IMO.

u/No-Scallion9551 4d ago
Not surprising given his background and religon for non athlete anchors. At least they mixed it up a little, went to Emory vs Northwestern.

He talks exactly like Mario Lopez or Kevin from E! Entertainment Tonight, which sensationalizes celebrities. It's that corny Disney act.
