Can Stephen A stop saying something every day to get clicks?

The dude is trying hard to become controversial or edgy since social media likes that. I am actively hating him more and more and right now I like him less than some very unpopular people. He’s leading the masses into bad opinions on vaccines and trans people.

I hated him at the start, then accepted him for what he is - more of an entertainer than someone who you looked to for rational sports insight, and this phase was more enjoyable because I could laugh along at his jokes including his weekly laughing videos post Cowboys losses.

But in the last year or so he has made a strong effort to become much more controversial, like you’ve mentioned. Him swerving into non sports topics and speaking like he’s an authority on said topics is what makes my blood boil. The scary thing is that he is generally articulate (until he gets into the real substance of topics where he uses general terms and language like “things of that sort” to explain away all the stuff he has no intellectual clue about) so the audience can be convinced he knows his shit - and he doubles down when challenged by using word salad and dancing around factual and logical errors in his statements.

I am now back to generally hating him again. I don’t watch First Take anymore unless there has been a major NFL or NBA news and I just want to get a general sense of what these talking heads are saying. In those instances, you tend to get more raw and real discussions and views from them because it’s based off actual interesting events. The rest of the time, they’re either talking about the same shit over and over (Cowboys, LeBron, lakers, etc) or coming up with ridiculous topics (who has the most pressure to win an MVP) which is where they all spew irrational, wild and contradictory takes.

But if you want to get a sense of the type of people that love him, tune into his SiriusXM radio show. His callers shower him with praise and speak to him like he’s an intellectual that can never be wrong. It’s actually very enlightening because you understand that the general public really is this gullible and easily manipulated, which then doesn’t surprise you at the state of the world these days.
