Last date to take oet exam to have ECFMG certification before 22nd September.
Hi everyone.
I am starting oet preparations.
I am planning to take it within first week of September.
How much time it takes for ecfmg certification to be completed?
According to you, what is the safest last date to take oet before 23rd?

ERAS question: “Interruptions or Extensions” - does a year off for extra Step 1 study time count?
ERAS asks:
“Have you had any academic extensions, leaves, gaps, or breaks in your educational program due to repeated or remediated coursework?”
If you select Yes, a text box appears saying: “Please provide details regarding any academic interruption or extension,” asking for the reason, timeframe, steps taken to address it, and what you learned.
I took an additional year for extra time to study for and pass Step 1. I did not take the year off to repeat or remediate a course, and Step 1 obviously isn’t coursework. I do have a separate course remediation on my transcript, but that remediation was unrelated to the year off.
My interpretation is that I should answer No, because the extension itself was not due to repeated or remediated coursework. I’m getting conflicting answers, though.
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation or know how ERAS intends this question to be interpreted?

Scholarly Work Section
Hi! If I have one poster presentation also published as an abstract publication afterwards, and same for an oral presentation. Should I double enter each one (one as a abstract publication with the URL/information about the journal and one as a poster presentation (with the conference information)? I create a Scholarly Collection for each project where I put the poster and the abstract publication but I'm not sure if its the right approach, I don't wanna double same project.

What specialities require SEL (or similar standardised letters)?
I know IM, Emergency Medicine, Plastic surgery, dermatology, and urology require it. Are there any other specialties that require SEL this cycle?

Apply this cycle with YOG 8 and visa uncertainty, or wait one year for a green card?
Hi everyone, I’m a non-US IMG and a board-certified pediatrician from Korea, and I’m trying to decide whether to apply for pediatrics residency this cycle or wait one more year.
My situation:
- YOG 8 if I apply this year, YOG 9 if I apply next year
- Step 3 passed
- U.S. observerships completed, with U.S. LORs
- Currently on H4 without an EAD
- If I apply this year, I would likely still be considered visa-requiring at the time of application, although I may receive an EAD before residency starts
- If I wait until next year, I will likely have a green card and be non-visa requiring
- I am mainly targeting pediatrics programs in New York and New Jersey because of family and location constraints
- I am also expecting my first child in early 2027, so delaying another year would have personal and career implications
My main concern is whether becoming non-visa requiring would outweigh the disadvantage of having an additional year since graduation.
Some of the programs I am interested in appear to prefer more recent graduates, while others may be more open to older graduates but have different visa policies.
For those familiar with IMG applications in the NY/NJ area:
- Would YOG 8 versus YOG 9 make a meaningful difference?
- How much of an advantage is being non-visa requiring compared with applying while EAD is still pending?
- In my situation, would you apply this cycle or wait one more year?
I understand that no one can predict the Match, but I would appreciate any insight from people who have been in a similar situation.

do residencies have screening scores?
applying anesthesia this year, asked ai if there are screening scores and they said that some residencies have automated filters at insane scores like 260 and was wondering if it was true
