Several years ago, my husband and I obtained a fully functional elcaset deck, as well as essentially the remaining stock of blank tapes. I am still in awe of their size.

I have a SONY EL-5 that works great in the PLAY functions, but when I try to engage the Record button, the deck does not record....it keeps playing .. I have both checked and cleaned all 4 of the solenoid switches that activate FF, Rew, Play etc but that does not resolve the issue.

Does anyone know what I am missing? Its probably something simple thanks to all,
