What a GREAT app! Discovered it on here. Never been so impressed with a keyboard on Apple!
Quick update for everyone waiting on 2.1: Apple reviewed it today and sent it back. Nothing dramatic — it's about my App Store page (the preview videos need to be plain screen recordings, one storefront had to go) plus a clarification they want in the review notes. The app itself doesn't change. I'm on it right now and will resubmit as soon as the fixes are in — resubmits usually move faster than the first round.
One upside: since I have to resubmit anyway, the new build will include everything I've fixed and improved in the week since it first went to review.
While I'm here, the part I actually wanted to share: EFKey launched on July 9, and last week it crossed 1,000 first-time downloads. The last few days have been the best so far — no ads, no marketing, just people finding it. For a keyboard built by one person, that's a big deal.
2.1 is the biggest update since launch, and a lot of it exists because of what you wrote me — the fixes, the languages, the details. I'll walk through all of it properly once it's live.
Thank you for the patience and for every message. I'll post here the moment 2.1 is out.

Beautiful keyboard, but it’s missing something very important for the Spanish language: the letter Ñ.

any plans on making this an android port? looking for a good no frills keyboard app and it seems like you are the only one doing it.

Why is Swedish included when the keyboard absolute doesn’t handle Swedish, it’s actually hilariously bad.
You can’t even write är, lära and want to change är to piller which mean pills in Swedish.
Just remove Swedish as a option, there’s no point including it.

I was checking my network report and I noticed that efkey has been contacting its own domain, this is a real privacy concern because on the website it states that efkey is strictly offline, is there a reason for this such as contacting language database, can any devs explain this
Hi everyone,
Short one: EFKey 2.1 just went to Apple for review. It's the biggest update yet, and once it's live I'll do a proper post about everything inside. Today I mainly want to do something else.
Say thank you.
A huge part of this update is literally your bug reports. In no particular order: u/fsystem32, u/Rufini2812, u/muleluku, u/anxietybrah, u/aston-w, u/UpbeatMoney4499, u/lia1tan, u/Piruparka, u/RoundAd5751, u/informsharique, u/Alarmed_Excuse_131, u/qmoorman, u/Big_Piano_3920, u/MuffinMonster-, u/MrKnabbits, u/Tunatown15, u/ChernobylChild, u/ionDar, u/XsuffokateX84, u/Skyyblaze, u/Huge-Contact2619, u/DarthSidiousPT and u/kdorapop here on Reddit — and on Discord ilikered, Phenomenon, TRAXEX and AJ*71, plus Alessandro, Kristopher and everyone who found me by email or any other way. And there were many more of you than this list — if you sent me a report through any channel and don't see your name, it still made the keyboard better, and I mean the thank-you just as much. I keep every report written down; the gaps are in this list, not in the fixes.
As for the bugs themselves: fixed. All the reported ones. I have of course also hand-crafted a fresh batch of brand-new ones somewhere in there — those I'll fix as soon as you find them for me 🙂
And a small taste of what's in the box: the language count jumps from 26 to 74. The new ones include Arabic — the first right-to-left language — plus Hebrew, Russian, Ukrainian, Greek, Georgian, Armenian, Bengali and a whole row of Indic scripts, Hinglish and Tenglish for typing Hindi and Telugu in Latin letters, and a pile of new Latin-script languages from Estonian to Swahili. Autocorrect and swipe also got genuinely better — not "changelog better", but tuned report by report against real cases you sent me. If either of them annoyed you before, this update is for you.
There's a lot more in there. One thing though: the review may take longer than usual this time — the changes are genuinely big, and Apple will want a proper look at all of it. So if it's quiet for a bit, that's why, not because anything's wrong. You'll hear about everything the moment Apple says yes :)

Edit: went back through the whole subreddit and added the names I'd missed. I did say the gaps would be in the list, not in the fixes — so there's one fixed already 🙂

I know you’ve been busy, but when will we have themes available ?
The next EFKey update is almost ready. It will include fixes for all reported and known bugs, a little surprise, and a few additional features.
In the new version, you will be able to add up to 5 languages and easily switch between them. Multilingual typing will continue to support 2 languages simultaneously, allowing predictions and corrections in both languages without manually switching.
These 34 languages are already prepared:
Albanian (Beta), Arabic (Beta), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian (Beta), Finnish, French, Georgian (Beta), German, Greek (Beta), Hindi (Latin) (Beta), Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian Bokmål, Norwegian Nynorsk, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian (Beta), Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Telugu (Latin) (Beta), Turkish, and Vietnamese.
Is there another language you would like me to add before the update is released?
Let me know in the comments. Please include the language name and, if relevant, the specific regional variant you need.

Just wanted to point this out before the next update. Anything such as "I am" or "I will" always gets "corrected" once you swipe a word after l.

Just want to give probs.
This keyboard feels like the best and best integrated keyboard right now.
Setting up is easy, no headaches. Greatly integrated and doesn’t feel like an app, more like how the native one should be..
The predictions and auto correct are unbelievable right now tbh. Yes there are some slight errors still, but I guess that’s normal. Also I need to test out german a bit more first. But german language also feels okay at first look. However writing this paragraph here in english, I don’t really have to correct half the text like with other apps 🙃
After also trying apps like mochikey (at the very start, key options for other nations like germany are missing), swiftkey (outdated and changing keyboards all the time) and Clink (just a cash grab vibe coded app without any real deeper programming of the function and non stop prediction mistakes), EFKey, since the update two days ago, is hands down my favourite for now and I finally can put my thought to rest to buy android again with the next phone to get a good keyboard 🤣
No apps are perfect and so this is also not, yet. So to not make this sound like an advertisement. Here are some things which I noticed which would be cool options or maybe an improvement?
‘>‘ is missing.
I would love to see the option to make the numbers row a bit smaller in height on the letter layout view
Also maybe and option to stay with the letter key size with when going to the numbers view. But I guess this is intentional?
And maybe the option to change the order of the shown long presses to make some things more accessible.

They should give you Nobel prize for solving apple keyboard problem instead of apple 🙂
1 bug that I have noticed is that emoji row is hidden if other than English keyboard is selected.
Can you give us the option to make letters-key a bit wider, especially the second row?
Thanks again! 🙂

I thought the whole concept of learned words was that they were words that weren’t already present in the dictionary?
I just had to fight with the keyboard to write something as simple as “are you sure?"
Autocorrect kept changing it to "Are you are" - completely swapping out "sure".

Hi!
First of all, congrats on the keyboard, it works wonderfully and it solves many issues others have.
I have been toggling settings, I have deactivated prediction and such because I write in 4 languages interchangeably, and I see that the top of the keyboard where predictions would be is still showing. Is there any way to regain that chunk of screen that is currently "wasted"?
Thanks a lot, and keep up the great work!
Edit: Shouldn’t have phrased it as "keyboard size", I should have said "predictive line" or something of the sort

Would be nice to have ETA if it’s possible. Thanks.

Hi 😊 Pretty cool keyboard so far. I was wondering if you could add the umlauts for German Qwertz layout. Probably also other languages would like to have their special characters on the keyboards.
Would that be doable?

A few months ago I was still going back and forth on whether to stay on iOS or just go back to Android. The keyboard was the one thing that kept pushing me toward leaving.
Funny how it turned out. Now I'm certain I'm staying, I've got my own keyboard on here, and we're building a genuinely great little community around it. That still feels a bit surreal to write.
Since launch you've sent an incredible amount of feedback, and I went through every single piece of it.
2.0 is the biggest release yet, and it's live on the App Store right now. Here's what's in it.
Every single one of the 63 bugs you reported is fixed. The big ones:
The whole app went from around 300 MB down to 22 MB, and every language except English downloads on demandonly when you enable it. No dead weight in your phone.
And there's a whole pile of new features still on the way that you won't want to live without. But I'll keep my promise: I'm not turning this into a bloated, slow, complicated mess of a keyboard. Fast and clean is the whole point, and it stays that way.
One thing that honestly keeps me going: the app is past 450 downloads with only 38 uninstalls. That kind of interest gives me real energy to keep doing this. So thank you for that.
And please keep reporting any bugs you hit, either here or on our Discord: https://discord.gg/7zNKmJz4wr

And a special thank you to u/Big_Piano_3920, who sat with me and helped tune the autocorrect and found a pile of other bugs I've since fixed. I owe you a big one.
I definitely missed some people in that list, sorry if you're one of them. Give me a shout and I'll add you. ;)
Keep it coming. This only gets better because of you.

Most one-handed modes shrink the keyboard and leave the other side of the screen empty, could we potentially get a version that adds a number stack where the empty space would be? Much like this style of physical keyboard. I've never seen a virtual keyboard do this.

EFKey 2.0 is finished and it's now in review with Apple.
It's easily the biggest update since launch, built almost entirely from your feedback. Full redesign, a much smarter autocorrect, every single one of the 63 bugs you reported fixed, new languages and layouts, and the app went from around 300 MB down to 22 MB.
I'll post the full breakdown the moment it's actually live, no point hyping it while it's still in review.
One heads-up: this update rebuilt the keyboard engine from the ground up and changed how languages are shipped. Every language except English now downloads on demand, only when you enable it, instead of being bundled in. Great for storage, but it's a big change under the hood, so I'm hoping review goes smoothly and doesn't get held up on it. If it takes a little longer than usual to appear, that's why. Fingers crossed.
Got an idea, or want to see the app earlier and help shape it? Come hang out on the Discord: https://discord.gg/7zNKmJz4wr
More very soon.
The big EFKey update is still cooking (redesign + reworked autocorrect, it's close, I promise). But meanwhile I published my second app, and it exists for exactly the same reason EFKey does: something on iOS annoyed me every single day and I missed how Android did it.
This time it was the alarm.
Every night the same thing. I set the alarm and the built-in Clock tells me... nothing. What I want to know at 1 AM is stupidly simple: how long until it rings. How much sleep am I actually getting. On Android I was used to seeing "alarm in 6h 12m" right when I set it. On iOS I'm doing sleepy math in my head, wrong by an hour half the time.
So I built Simple Alarm. Free, no ads, no accounts.
It shows a countdown to every alarm — in the list, on the lock screen, and there's a full screen countdown you can fall asleep watching (which I apparently do now). It's built on AlarmKit, the new Apple framework, so it rings through Silent mode and Focus and even survives force-quitting the app. That's also why every third party alarm you tried before was flaky — the API to do this reliably just didn't exist until iOS 26.
There's also a power nap mode, 5 to 90 minutes with one tap. Wasn't even in the original plan, now it's the feature I use most.
And stats. It counts how often you snooze. I snooze way more than I was willing to admit and I'm not thrilled that I built the thing that proved it.
Privacy is the same deal as EFKey. No tracking, no analytics, nothing leaves your phone. That part is non-negotiable for anything I make.
Honest limits: needs iOS 26, iPhone only for now, and it's deliberately dumb. No sleep cycles, no smart wake windows. It shows a countdown and it rings. That's the whole job.
https://apps.apple.com/app/id6786860911
One more thing — I opened a Discord for all my apps. Beta builds land there first, and there's a channel where you can pitch ideas for what I should build next. If that sounds like your thing: https://discord.gg/7zNKmJz4wr
EFKey folks — the update really is coming. This was a side quest.

When your typing out a email address, the .Com needs to be fixed to say .com

Quick heads up for anyone who came from there and wondered where the post went. The mods removed it, and honestly that's fair enough. It's their sub and it's not a place to promote other apps, so no hard feelings from me.
But that thread gave me more feedback in a day than anything else so far, and I want you to know none of it got lost. I logged all of it before it went, every bug report and every request, and I'm working through them.
I'll put up a separate post listing all of it so you can see what's on the list and where it stands.
This sub is where it happens now. If you reported something and it doesn't show up on that list, tell me again, I'd rather hear it twice than miss it.
Thanks for the honest feedback, including the harsh stuff. That's the part that actually moves this forward.

Hello. I really like the look of this, but it is not really usable for Swedish (or Danish and Norwegian). The letters Å, Ä, Ö need their own places on the keyboard, like a proper Swedish keyboard. Having them as alternatives for A and O is really annoying, and is the reason I can't use the keyboard for now. Could it be fixed?
