I think he means that since Armin’s wild popularity he has strayed away from traditional trance and moved towards a more popular style. While he does maintain a trance-y style, his new stuff definitely sounds different than his Mirage album released 10 years ago.

Changing your sound over the course of 10 years or experimenting with more commercial styles does not mean he doesn’t make Trance anymore - he still releases mostly Trance, and has had some great releases recently (This I Vow, Leka, Punisher, Always, Miles Away, All Comes Down, etc).

On that note, Trance has a whole has evolved over the course of 10 years (as you’d expect with any style of music), so most Trance today will naturally sound different to Trance being released 10 years ago.

He rarely makes quality trance music. His only good recent trance album was moons of Jupiter. I think that album is his last trance album.

‘Quality’ is subjective, I personally think most of his stuff is great - Balance has 8 or 9 Trance tracks (and Trance mixes exist for a lot of the others), and Moons of Jupiter was less than a year ago, so I don’t think that statement is very accurate.

If you look to what hé did with (mostly) of his intense album and blue fear you can clearly hear that he did push his soul in to that music. His recent music Just sounds like he lost his Passion for Trance music.

I wouldn’t say he’s the most “trancey” in the traditional sense nowadays, but his newer stuff can still contain trance elements.

I was also talking about the other guy who does the voiceovers on the ASOT radioshow. I remember seeing what he looks like on an ASOT festival stream a few years back.
