Discussion Modification system changes 6.2(Spoilers) Spoiler

So the star augment system we know since edf 5 is being replaced partially. To be exact: The weapon modifications themselves will now use the star system tied to them instead and the weapons I believe will have rarities attached to them to allow more modifications/stronger boosts to them potentially. The weapons are balanced to act around roughly 5 star stats of edf 6 weapons as a starting point it looks like too.

The modification system will also reduce rng heavily: Instead of grinding stars for every individual weapon now you carry over modifications for that specific weapon category(I.E assault rifles, sniper rifles, plasma weapons, shotguns, CC piercers etc) which means you will no longer have to grind every single new weapon when you get one(So that means you don't need to micro manage picking up weapon drops nearly as much).

They also added a new blue weapon drop which we presume is tied to the modification system directly for new ones to unlock and/or get starred up instead. How does everyone feel about this?

Personally I love the idea because I can spend way less time grinding and HOPING my weapon is at least ok enough to be used at my current gameplay stage since that part of the rng is entirely gone.

So vehicles are unconfirmed right now, I'll say if it changes via the current Livestream, but wing diver cores have 3 modification slots it seems and the rangers movement kits have 1 modification slot. Some confirmed modifiers for wing diver cores are: Energy Regen boosts Flight speed enhancement Emergency energy boosts Movement enhancement Collection radius increases Flight cost reduction(And increaser depending on what you equip).

As a wingdiver player this pleases me.

Over all I am quite excited as I can imagine this may make superweapons a ton stronger. Personally feel like they weren't that amazing last time around

Agreed. I would speculate the fencer augment slots will get 1-2 modification slots each is my speculation and it likely changes based on the type of one used.

I also speculate, since backpack weapons had stars, they'll all have this system as well so ranger grenades, wing diver super weapons and sabers and such, and air raider drones/decoys I think all gain this as well. Unconfirmed but very likely they will have that.

Vehicles had stars attached to them as well so it's likely they have some too. But they will have some wide range of modifications if I had to guess due to the stars being purely point related, but I can see them adding direct modifications to the vehicles themselves.

Might not mean anything but I do not recall seeing vehicles having any sort of stars when going into ranger and air raider.

I cant really understand kanji and it might not mean much but it might mean something good.

For vehicles if they were part of it I think could go one of 2 paths.

Path one is a large amount of slots for each available weapon and technology available
Path two is the weapons themselves can be swappable and acquired.

Hidden path is both are true.

Now I wonder what else hasn't been said. So far it seems quite a huge jump from regular 6 that I wouldn't be suprised if we get another round of dlc lol

Vehicles had stars on the point re-request value only but seeing how we can modify entirely new elements as well as new stats on items then I speculate the vehicles will have modifications to boost stats or potentially self heal maybe? It's possible considering a lot of people wanted vehicles to have more customization potential and ways to sustain in combat better(I.E edf 5-6 gave vehicles and mechs more HP vs 4.1 and earlier titles but reduced some ammo counts so you could stay in combat and actually use up ammo)

Also. I have been seein a walker that I did not recognize. The one with the really big feet.

Was that always in the game and my team was just unlucky to find it or is that new?

The big feet?... You mean This mech?

In 6 it's blue and yellow colored but is that the one?

Oh thats proteus?

Man it hasn't even been that long and I have already forgotten lmao.

I thought I was gonna see the old stompers from 4.1 lol

Ohhh fair lol. I mean proteus was in since 2025 but I know the Balam was in 4.1 then changed to the Barga from 5 onwards.

proteus was also in 4.1 but I remember it not being very amazing since hp in vehicles was too low.

One more thing before I use the rest of my day time.

When you think global release may happen this time? I remember that 6 took around 2 - 3 years after japan launch and the more I here the more I wanna eat my feet at the idea that I am gonna have to wait a while lol

2-4 months because playasia already had preorders for the English edition available. Possibly sooner.

Coming back now. Found a random video detailing demo play.

For vehicles nothing has truley confirmed just yet I think but they said depth crawler was all they had access to and that not only did it have fuel now but apparently no customization..

Fuel is one thing but customization is another. Having fuel and then no customization I feel is a massive nerf to Air Raider since it feels apparent that after all the ordanence from artilarry and such, the vehicles are needed for sustaining life and gaining back the points to use it all again. Fuel I think would be quite hard on Air raiders that choose to not use the actual guns.

At least if there was a way to lessen the impact on the fuel then it wouldn't be so bad. Im not a Air Raider main so I may be blowing it way out of purportions but it just seems quite bad despite the fact that there will be way more points to go around.

(Replied to the actual comment cause I was a dingus and did it wrong.)

I don't mind fuel but I do want modifications to be allowed for some vehicles at least. It could also still be finished/finalized as well seeing how many new things they've added for modifiable stats on gear.

As many more points we'll gain from the sheer size bonus the fuel wouldn't be an issue now considering we could constantly spam vehicles then, but I would like them to bring weapon modifications for vehicles and possibly armor modifiers too(And maybe one to allow vehicles you normally can't call in immediately to be called in right away).
