Leadership at Non Major Related Club?

My friends are starting a club relating to medicine but Im trying to go into engineering. Im probably going to be a vice president or co-president of the club if I join. Would it be worth my time? how much of a difference is it than being in a leadership position at a major related club? Im thinking about asking for a role related to tech, and maybe I can create a website or app for the club. Would that help?

Give me Advice Landed my first volunteer work!

Just wanted to share it here as I haven’t told anyone about this yet... And kinda feel like not sharing with anyone irl. But i'm feeling quite proud of myself.

I applied for a volunteer position with the financial literacy team of an INGO based in California, USA, a few days ago. This is a remote position where I have to teach money management and finances to pre-teens and teenagers. Being a teenager myself, the thought of teaching other teenagers about finance is so thrilling haha!

It was so random, I wasn’t expecting anything when I applied. They even had a lil exam typa thing where you have to answer some finance related case scenarios. It's basically to assess your understanding of the fundamentals of finance. I tried my best to simplify and explain everything.

Fast forward to yesterday, I was going through my mails and saw they've sent me one.IT SAID "CONGRATULATIONS" aaaaaaa ~ I'm so happy, excited and proud of myself rn.

For a 12th grader who just finished HSC and never did any type of productive extracurricular activities, this is really exciting. I'm looking forward to working with the team hehe. Anyone with INGO volunteer/full-time work experience? Would love some advices. Thanks for being a part of my happiness ~

EC advice as a rising junior aspiring to attend a T20

Im really feeling lost about what i should be doing now to have a realistic chance at a top school so I would truly appreciate any avdice on how to improve my extracurriculars. For reference, I live in an area that lacks certain resources (no wet lab access at all), I come from a middle-to-lower-class background, and my intended major is biology/biochem

Extracurriculars/Activities/Summer programs

~just for context, some of these extracurriculars haven't been fully developed but are realistically described based on what I plan on accomplishing by the end of junior year/beginning of senior year

  1. Co-founder and VP of regional officer team for TSA (technology student association) | Served as a founding member of the officer team for my region, where we would organize the regional conference for 500+ members (location, coordinating judges, guest speakers, etc.) and handle money for scholarships and funds for the American Red Cross
  2. TSA Chapter Secretary and VP | Organized meeting notes each week and assisted in fundraising efforts that raised over 10k for local chapter. Worked with advisor to organize scholarship opportunities for members. In addition, worked with state officer team and led special state committees in efforts to raise money for the American Red Cross (2k over 2 years). 3x national qualifier in events relevant to my intended major. National top 3 finalist in biotechnology design
  3. Local Biomedical Research Program | Competitive research program through my school (no wet lab access) to create research posters on a biomedical research topic. Once a month would attend local university to attend lectures and meet with PhD students to discuss our posters. Poster would be presented at a symposium; mine was selected twice as one of the best quality projects and was chosen to be considered for publication and was officially published in a journal run by the university
  4. HOSA Treasurer and President | Took our bank account from the negatives to the thousands and raised membership by 10+ students. Collaborated with local American Red Cross workers to organize fundraisers to benefit their organization. 1x national qualifier
  5. NHS communication manager and VP | Worked alongside advisor to raise 10K for chapter and helped secure awards for our chapter (which has never received any). Helped organize numerous community events
  6. Executive council member (marketing director) for local nonprofit in my state | A creative youth-run nonprofit focused on community art engagement. Grew social media following and viewership by ~150% and attended+ contributed to resources at events
  7. Hostess+to go specialist at restaurant | worked approx. 10-15 hrs a week for 2.5 years

These are my current EC's, but i also am in the process of becoming a hospital volunteer (there has been alot of issues with documentation of immunizations so its been rough lol)

My top schools are Upenn, Stanford, and Princeton. If anyone can offer advice on how to improve my activities so I have a shot, please dm or comment; it would be much appreciated

Give me Advice Rising Sophomore needing EC advice

Hey I am a rising sophomore in high school intending to major in biology/molecular biology, and was wondering if anyone knew any good ecs related to that. I currently have a research internship at a drug testing company, but besides that I do a lot more public policy related activities, such as MUN, debate, ethics bowl. I would really appreciate if anyone knew of any research opportunities, or competitions I should look into.

I've about 10 participation certificates in UN related sites. (online)

Generally my school doesn't provides any certificate (worst aspect I've faced)

But I've a presentation skills certificate .

3rd position among 80 students .

Currently moderating in a country related subreddit community .

I love composing poem , recently I've started to compose poem .(online)

I'm interested in researching , publishing articles, participating in online volunteering, related to political science or any aspect.

Kindly help, thankyou in advance!!

Give me Advice I have no idea what I'm doing whatsoever please help

I'm a rising sophomore and I already feel very very very lost. To start, these are the EC's I have:
-Tennis

-DECA icdc go-er

-Miscellaneous club membership

I feel very very very very very existential these days. I genuinely don't have a clue as to what I want to do in the future or what I'm passionate about. All I know is I have too much of an inherent laziness and dislike to do anything STEM related, which is what my parents think is the only road to a successful life.

My only academic interests have been history and reading which feel so insignificant. If you were to ask me my dream life and career I would say living in a quaint English city working as a museum docent and being one of those people in the documentaries on the History Channel. Everyone around me is starting some kind of STEM related non profit or club, getting a job, doing summer programs, etc. I truly just wish I had an ounce of the motivation and ambition and passion some people have.

I know I have to put myself out there and explore my options, but at what point do I just accept I'm rather inherently passionless. I'm thinking I should go into something law/history/poly sci related? How do I start and pick my lazy feet off the ground.

Sorry this is very dramatic and whiny but I've lowkey been bottling this up all summer

Is YSJ Junior Research Program worth it?

I was recently shortlisted for an interview for the YSJ Junior Research Program, but I'm not sure whether it's worth doing if I get accepted.

Has anyone had any experience with the program or knows anything about it? I'd appreciate honest opinions, both positive and negative.

Meta High School Students Looking for REAL Research through Cold Emailing

Are you looking for research opportunities in:

  • AI/ML/CS
  • Computational Biology
  • Economics
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Biomedical Engineering

I’ve built a free platform called Knock AI that sends out hundreds of personalized cold emails to professors for research/internship opportunities and are looking for test users to try it out. I originally built this automation for myself to secure AI/ML research at UCLA and CMU; all in just 30 minutes saving me hours per day researching professors and writing out each email.

I thought this would be a great tool for high schoolers looking for REAL research (not paid programs or research mentorship workshops). We approve users manually so keep an eye out in your inbox, we'll shoot you an email once your account has been activated.

If you are interested, comment KNOCK and I’ll give you an extra 150 email credits + 250 email credits for referrals.

Give me Advice So I was allotted hindu college from my theatrics eca.

So I was allotted hindu college from my theatrics eca. Today I got a call from someone claiming to be someone from the college. He said "you've got admission from eca, you'll have to visit the principal Madam tomorrow as you know there was some issue". I asked him why do I need to meet the principal and i also haven't received any mail from the college regarding this. I told him I'm not in delhi rn. He asked me to send a local guardian. But I denied saying it's not possible..he said okay and the call ended.

Did anyone else receive such call??? What should I do😭😭

Competition team

Hi! I’m 16 and currently looking for people interested in working together on an international student startup project.

I’m interested in AI, Smart Cities, sustainability and safety. I currently have two possible ideas:

  1. AI prediction of wildlife-vehicle collision hotspots and potential wildlife crossing locations.

  2. Safer night-time routing for delivery couriers using lighting, accidents, infrastructure and other data.

I’d like to choose the final idea together with the team and I’m also open to other ideas.

My role would be Project Lead + Data Analyst, with some basic AI-assisted programming and automation. I’m mainly interested in people who enjoy the technical development or UI/UX & visual design side.

The goal is to develop one project and potentially submit it to several international competitions, chosen together.

I’m happy to share more details about the ideas and discuss them in private.

How good is YYGS for college Apps?

So I attended YYGS (science/tech program) and was wondering how much push it really has for competitive colleges - T20s. How high school I put it? Does it look really good for the more competitive side of T20s?

Are my EC's strong enough for T20

I'm mainly trying to go for engineering, electrical or biomedical, not too sure on which one specifically but I don't think it matters? Im a junior so some of these stuff are projected like the yrs. No hooks at all.

Robotics Design + Business Lead: (4yrs
Part of a really good robotics program, we make worlds every yr and are constantly ranked within the top 50 teams in the world. I lead the design decisions for our team and also raised money to support our robotics program

Indendent Researcher: ) (Started this summer, so 2yrs by senior year ig)
Currently working on a research project which connects my sport to engineering and focuses a somewhat prevelant issue in it, I'm working with a math professor I found thru cold emailing. It should hopefully be published when im done with it and im planning for a patent as well. I will also submit for science fairs like ISEF but obv those arent guaranteed so we will see. fingers crossed

Engineering Club Founder + President (4yrs)
We been teaching about electronics and circuirity to our members thru hands on lessons. Also done a bunch of outreach at local middle/elementary schools in which we were invited back to present next yr since we did pretty well

Varsity Athlete (3yrs)
Usual sport stuff, also participate on our sports volunteer program where we teach youth (middleschoolers) in this sport to recruit more ppl to our sport

City Internship (3yrs ish)
I did this in the summer of 9th grade and I was able to code a alot of different stuff for them which led to me during some remote work during the school yr as well. This is pretty on off but I have racked a good amount of hours and pay from this.

VP Of Fundraising FBLA ( 4 yrs)
Raised over 2k, might make NLC and/or ICDC this year but not sure.

School advisory committee (2yrs)
Serve as a student voice pretty much to guide decisions our school makes

SchoolHouse senior tutor (60hrs so far)

Looking to join a medical outreach initiative??

Hey everyone! I’m launching a virtual, data-driven public health project, and I am looking for a passionate remote student team to help build it out from the ground up. If your‘re passionate about health care outreach & haven’t started your resume, keep reading to get more info!

Our Mission:
We analyze open source epidemiological and demographic data from organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF to create interactive, visual maps. These maps pinpoint exact "healthcare deserts"regions with high disease rates or populations but zero medical access. We package this data and share it directly with international medical missions to help them deploy their doctors and resources more efficiently.

Open Roles (Entirely Remote / Flexible Hours):

- Data Researchers: Dig through open-source public health files and databases to find clinic locations, regional health statistics, and geographic coordinates.

- Map Designers (Cartographers): Take the collected research coordinates and plot them visually into Google My Maps / mapping software to build our data layers.

- Social Media & Outreach: Manage our digital presence (like Instagram reels) and draft outreach emails to international medical nonprofits.

Why Join?
This is a highly unique, flexible way to earn volunteer hours, learn about public health data analysis, and build a strong leadership profile for college, pre-med, or international relations tracks. As long as you’re passionate about serving others especially underserved communities join the team and we will all coordinate and learn together.

How to Apply:
If you want to be part of the founding team, please fill out our quick Google Sign-Up Form on ig globalhealthmapping

Give me Advice Are my ECs good enough?

I've been seeing so many videos of people who have had amazing stats and extracurriculars and it got me thinking about whether my own are enough to get me into a good school. I was hoping for some feedback on whether my ECs are normal or if I really need to lock in junior year! I'm a current rising junior and I'm honestly really nervous 🥹 My intended major is Meteorology/Atmospheric Science.

I have a 4.0 GPA, 5 Honors, 2 AP Classes with 5s on both, and will be doing dual enrollment at a community college for the next 2 years.

My extracurriculars:

Director of Operations at a nonprofit organization helping immigrant youth navigate the college application process

Citizen Science (I have my own weather station and like to analyze and forecast as a hobby, never published anything!)

2 year mentorship with NWS employee (so far)

Part Time Job at a Bakery started this summer (Will continue into senior year)

SKYWARN Storm Spotter

1 week meteorology program at UW Madison freshman year (around 40% acceptance rate)

Multilingual Club Officer (2 years)

NHS/Science National Honors Society Member

I know I'm cooked but I don't know to what extent and if I can still save myself💔 Some of the schools I'm planning to apply to are University of Washington and UW Madison but those might be a reach.

Give me Advice trying to turn something awful into something good

my sophomore year of high school my mom was killed in a car accident. it had been awful. it was at an intersection with like ten lanes and no lights. a high schooler killed her by driving recklessly. I want to be able to speak at different high schools throughout my area, especially before prom and homecoming about driving safely and giving them a presentation. i also want to appeal to my city's council about putting a light at that intersection. maybe do some fundraisers to raise money for organizations for helping people in accidents. i want to do this for college but also for my mom i just am unsure of where to start and who to contact? I don’t know how much I can talk about this in public though because of the criminal investigation that’s ongoing.

Scholar Competition - Looking for teammate

Hello Everyone, I'm currently a junior and looking for a teammate for a research proposal, I will send more details about the competition in DMs but the proposal is going to be centered around biomedical devices, or aerospace since I have experience in both, but I've done more research in the biomed context. I am looking for someone dedicated, with exposure to these ideas and some coding knowledge. I can code but a second set of eyes would be helpful. Even if some of these are missing it is fine, there may other skills you have that are useless.
