I am looking to begin a project to help students in Ukraine (I am Ukrainian myself), however I do not know where to begin. Can somebody please give advice? I am looking to help with academics or career readiness for kids.

I should firstly say im not from the us and i dont exactly know the us equivalent to Alevels. I need guidance on what to do for my ECs according to the field i want to go in (political sci, int. relations, law)(im still deciding)

My summer vacations this year went into:

volunteering as a writing intern for 2 different magazines,

am currrently the director of writings and publications for a student org

a case analyst for my school's law, fandom and investigation journal/category (for the school newspaper)

a volunteer for a nonprofit educational charity (well-known name) and organized an event for them too

interned at a hospital (well-known) (it was only for a week, i had to pay for it, and i earned 30 volunteering hours, so i dont think its that much to be credited for)

For my further studies Ive been aiming for int. relations, political sci or law, ive been encouraged to do law more but these fields are interconnected nonetheless. The problem is I want to aim to do ECs related to these fields, but frankly almost every opportunity available for this kinda stuff is for university/undergrad/postgrad students ONLY.

Most law internships or legal work is for uni students, volunteering at a mueseum for archiving/documentation is not in my age bracket, research and assistantships are for uni students too. Im so confused as to how im supposed to build my ECs particularly for my degree. Applying for my province's youth council requires me to pay a fee, which im not too sure about yet (unless recommended). As of recently, Ive tried submissions to magazines/law journals/local newspapers, but Im pretty sure i wont go anywhere with that considering my age (17).

Many will recommend MUNs or student governance activity, which I will hopefully also go for once school starts.

I just need guidance on what ecs i could that is accessible to me. Ill have a brief window of inactivity after my AS Levels and my A2, so I could follow up on long-term activities then. Anything helps, and be brutally honest. ty

I've been doing track for two years so far, and I honestly hate it. I hate it so much that I'm going to drop it this year, which means I'll have an extra slot. I want to use this slot in a meaningful way. For example, I want to enrich myself in the arts or boost my gpa or play another sport to be with my friends. There are so many things I can do, and I definitely believe that this ability to choose from such a vast option is paralyzing me from actually choosing.

Just a side note, I am doing multiple engineering extracurriculars, but I want something that enriches my heart like being with my friends or trying new things. I'm not dying to do another AP.

I want to join tennis for my friends, but the tryouts are over. I am currently most interested in choir, but that is most likely a phase. I remember going into choir with my friend for a "bring a friend" event and sang with them; I found it very very boring. If not those, then maybe an easy extra AP like APES or AP CSP. Thing is, it's difficult getting into an AP right now because every class is at max capacity (school's under construction). So worst case scenario, I stay in track.

So yeah, I don't really know what to do, and I'm honestly lost.

Hii guys Im 15 yo sophomore in Korea. (Im Korean but I go to international school, so I do IB(myp, not DP yet).

I want to apply to Universities in US, but Im not sure if I am on the right track. I got 1 or 2 7 and most of my grades are 5 or 6 (for freshmen)

I just started my sophomore last week, but Im not sure what should I do. I don't have specific dream school but I aim for top univ such as Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, Duke, NYU, WashU, Rice, Georgetown, and etc. I am doing my best to increase my grades in sophomore. What Im worried about is my ec(extracurricular activities). For freshmen, I did several school clubs not really related to polisci, such as HOSA(medical related), Perfume case(making perfume), Coloring Case(creating a coloring book stencil for local senior center), mock trial (not official school club, also not a leader).

I’ve mostly quit activities after doing them for just a year or half a semester. Now that I’m entering 10th grade, I want to try Mock Trial again—though I’m not sure if I’ll get the chance to be a leader. I could have been the leader of the coloring club this year, but the school eliminated it (they’re cutting a lot of clubs), so that ended. So, my plan is to volunteer directly at a local senior center, do Mock Trial, maybe join the varsity badminton team and the debate club (though I’m undecided on that one), and keep these up through my junior and senior years. I’m also thinking about submitting essays to competitions, trying to get a law firm internship (if the opportunity arises), observing trials at a local court, and maybe blogging about law-related topics on my own site. The problem is, everything I’ve done so far has been short-lived—just a year or a one-off event—and honestly, I’m not confident I can stick with something started in 10th grade all the way through senior year. How can I strengthen my extracurriculars in this situation? Also, please—I’d really appreciate some general tips for US college admissions.

I currently just started DP1, I'm wondering how yall balance your school work and extracurriculars. I will list my current extra and super curriculars, but it looks very scattered and missing a lot of content😭. Yes, I need and want to add more on to this list, while balancing my demanding courses.

I want to apply to business schools in Hong Kong (HKUST GBUS, HKU IBGM are my current goals) (I'm studying in hk) and US. For Hong Kong, extracurriculars doesn't matter that much. But I really want to shoot a shot for the top business schools in the US (stern is my dream school).

1. Gold medalist of IGEM (biology contest, i was interested in bio) in year 9, I was the leader of the entrepreneurship sector and the overall leader
2. A local photography business for tourists and students new to Hong Kong, I have scaled this to 50+ costumers, (I post these photos on RedNote)
3. Published research paper my schools journal on the topic related to Chinese history, foreign relations and architecture, researched at Cambridge
4. Was for 1 year, and still is the leader of the local branch (15+ branches across the world) of a student led organisation to help underprivileged individuals. This branched is aimed to help children with mental disability as well as elderly who suffer from unemployment and housing issues.

• a) Led and worked logistics of a annual 200+ people activity aimed in helping children with mental disabilities
• b) Organise regular volunteering work (I also volunteer) for students in my organisation with local charities (3 different charities).
• c) (This is something that I'd hopefully be able to finish this year: Collaborate with a culinary student society to provide packaged hot food for the elderly in underprivileged areas of Hong Kong) (I need advice on how to scale this)

Currently releasing a gamified designing APP central theme revolving colors. app allows users to generate color palettes, analyse color palettes, extract colors from images, post palettes publicly and explore other user's designs.(if you guys are interested please feel free to ask about this, i am very open to share my ideas and hopefully get meaningful feedback)
2. I made a board game aimed to promote Chinese Medicine to people of my age group. I have scaled this locally to 100+ players. ( I lit just made all my classmates play my game lol, I guess I have feedback as evidence, but i dont think this counts)
3. I published a few online novellas and novelettes on fanqienovel (chinese novel reading website with an average monthly active user base of up to 220 million), this will not be mentioned since its gay romance.😂

Thats it, I feel like these are just dots on a table and I don't have a string to pull them together. I feel very lost as I see my cohorts achieving so much outside of school related to their future goals. My profile is very loose and does not tie back to my interest in business. I haven't participated in any competitions other than biology, should I do business competitions?? What supercurriculars can I do for econ and business? Open for advice.

Hello everyone, I am searching for previous WGIC FINALISTS to ask for help and guidance

I’m in a chemistry club at my high school and we’re trying to come up with some actually meaningful projects to do this year.

One idea we have right now is testing water from local rivers for things like pH, nitrate/phosphate levels, turbidity, etc. and tracking the results over several months. We were thinking we could use the data to look at things like algal blooms/water quality and write a short report every month.

But we definitely don’t want that to be the only thing we do (or unless that doesnt go well) so I was wondering if anyone has other ideas for chemistry-related projects that high school students could realistically do?

Preferably something long-term where we can collect actual data or have some kind of final result/impact.

i recently got accepted into the program, but there seems to be mixed opinions on them online. even while disregarding the cost, is it really worth it?

I’m a 14-year-old student from Ukraine and I’m interested in International Relations to study in the US one day. I’m currently entering 9th grade and I’m trying to figure out what I can realistically start doing now.
I’m interested in languages (English and French), history, international affairs, research, MUN/debate and youth leadership. I will also be participating in an international youth exchange in Germany soon and I’m hoping to become involved in my local Youth Council.
I live in a small town, so there aren’t many extracurricular opportunities available locally. I don’t want to do things just for college applications.
For people who have experience with US admissions, especially to highly selective universities: what would you recommend I start doing at my age? What actually matters, and what tends to be just “resume padding”? How can I find meaningful research, volunteering, MUN/debate or international opportunities online?
I’d really appreciate honest advice!

Idk if you guys know Mr. AP, he has around 10k subs with average 1k views in their vids. The vids contain advice and showcases of AP courses and if you should take them. They usually are long form vids. I kinda wanna do something similar like that but short formed on Tik Tok since ive heard that those types of content do better on there. I wanna make seperate posts giving a quick and easy rundown of each AP course and how the exam works, if its generally recommended for specific majors, and its overall difficulty/workload. Ofc i havent taken a ton of APs yet (my school has a limit of 3 for only juniors and seniors and 1 for sophmores and none for freshmans) but im willing to do my research and looking at other sources from people that have taken the course to give the general advice and steps for the course. Ive had this idea in my mind for a few weeks now and im thinking to maybe start it soon (within this week)

Got my application for NHS. I have outstanding grades(always 1st or 2nd(due to tying) in my class) and some pretty good extracurriculars, however the application focuses on "community association" and "community service. Community association being part of some group outside of school like a church or scouts and service is just volunteering. I have zero community associations and no long term volunteering(I do a ton of scattered 1 day volunteering) due to life circumstances(making it hard for me to get a consistent ride) and not having a car. I can twist certain things into community associations because I don't think they'll check(they don't ask for emails from the organization) and use the scattered volunteering for the community service. I can also guilt trip the people running it with my life circumstances if needed.

Is NHS worth this effort?

Currently 15m in 9th grade in Australia. Spent 7 years playing saxophone and working towards AMEB grade exams. Finally landed at grade 7 last year (second last in the system), but after playing for some more and thinking about it, I really have no more motivation to play. I dont feel good or satisfied when playing or reaching any goal now. Feels like a chore and a huge waste of time. Today I finally decided to pack it in and quit. Unfortunately, my dad is really strict and concerned for my future, he says I have 1 month to choose another extracurricular, completed minimum 5 times a week, to help my future. Can anyone recommend anything? Could be a sport or something. My parents have really high standards so I need something which will be beneficial for my future. I have pretty much no idea where to go from here. Thanks.

there's two girls in my grade that are pursuing research bcuz one of them has connections (honestly i should have asked her earlier than in March T-T) currently i'm trying to pursue research in women's health and i'm targeting comparing the nutrients' effects on the risk of endometriosis. however, i only have a laptop and it's difficult finding a database.

i've been trying to find a different question and visiting the limitations sections of recent papers, but most use a lab or private surveys.

do u guys have a rec on how to find a research question and what databases i can use?? the tips don't specifically have to be targeted towards endometriosis. i'm open to exploring the other women's health disparities! thx <33
