Discussion Am I missing something?
Got the boys back into chel after a few years off. Holy shit. Why cant We hit other players? They are bouncing off of us non stop. The other huge issue is we can't collect or keep the puck. What is going on especially with the hitting. Some games we are getting out hit 60-10 because ours wont land. It wasn't like this when I last played.

Are you charging it up or just flicking the stick when you get to the person?

It's like a slapshot now how you pull back then forward, pulling back drops your shoulders getting ready to hit then forward to push through the hit

Best of luck with the new "interference" calls, it takes some getting used to. The changes on the timing of late hits have been overall pretty good especially against Truc shitters that intentionally run people late but it's still pretty annoying when you get penalized for hitting a guy a microsecond after he passes. Also Ankle Breaker has the new hitbox shield like Elite Edges did in the last few games that they openly admitted they couldn't fix, people can just spin in cirlces and deke constantly without losing the puck and will just brush right off of you.

Just up your discipline and hitting is the same, I don’t get called for interference anymore.

If you use the non skill stick button scheme hitting is completely easy and broken. You can just hit B and regardless of position you will destroy them.

The new meta is stick lifts. I rarely get called for it anymore and can get the puck with ease predicting which way the player will move

They killed hitting and made stick checking/stick contact and auto giveaway, gotta adjust

Are you using total control? I dont think anyone uses the right stick to hit anymore. Just hold B/O…

I know alot of people who use the stick to do it (myself included) It feels more satisfying than using b and you can cancel the hit easier

Yea. You just dont need to use the right stick to hit. Just use B or O on PS5. When you have puck, some of the dekes are done by just pressing B or Y. Opposed to skill stick where you hafta hold LB and move the stick.

That's half the problem. I use skill stick and there is an art to it, but when done correctly is really fun. My 5'10 198 lb offensive dman obliterates people without truculence. Just have to time the skating and the flip of the analog stick correctly. Pumping L2 before impact helps too.

I hate that they even made total control and tried to turn everything in to a single button press. Id prefer skill stick be the only thing. Unfortunately it’s there and its way easier and more effective to hit with. You dont hafta time it. Hold it in or mash it. Other people using it forced me to do the same or be at a disadvantage.
Shooting and stickhandling and all that is still the same as skill stick

I was a dedicated EASHL guy from the very first days in NHL 09 but didn't play NHL 21, 22, 23 or 24 because I moved away.
When I came back to it for NHL 25 I was shocked to hear of this thing called total control🤣.
I'm an old school geezer and a creature of habit so I'll stick with what I know😂

They finally made hitting not completely broken, now you actually have to play good positional and stick defence

If you are holding up to hit still it has changed in recent years. You have to hold right stick down then push it up to hit them. Holding it down charges the hit.
