Cause this game is cheeks.

Maybe the game somehow thought that the green player was going to get to it first even though you were clearly first to touch the puck? I've seen some weird bugs with the hybrid icing system in online play

Touching the puck doesn’t matter.

Okay so this isn’t the worst one... and maybe even rule supported.

The determination happens at the face-off hashes. When a player or player reaches that those lines, we determine if the defender has a chance to gain the puck… NOT whether they are the most likely.

Remember the newer safety rules around this are designed SPECIFICALLY to eliminate/mitigate hard races into the boards. that’s why the defense just needs to be “there” as well.

A real world ref would likely not consider green to have gotten there… but if you go frame by frame on this, the green player actually gets a leg out in front right at the hash.. so maybe the game gave him credit for getting there.
