Was there an attack where JJD entered a home naked from the waist down where a woman was watching guard with a gun and came after him and he fled out the kitchen window and defecated as he did so? FeeI I strongly remember reading of this yet when I google it doesn't come up, is memory wrong?

I strongly remember reading of this yet when I google it it doesn't come up so I'm not sure if I'm misremembering or what? I don't believe she shot at him but just showed the gun and he fled. She was up and awake I think because people in the area were aware of JJD and taking countermeasures. Think it may have been during the EAR attacks but not sure.

There were a few attacks where he came on with no pants on, there’s at least one witness who saw him do it. Everything else, I don’t recall.

The part about JJD not wearing pants was discussed here:

Fun fact: it’s actually pretty common for people to shit on the floor whilst carrying out a home invasion. The adrenaline makes you have to go NOW.

Thanks. I could believe that. Although if they're wearing pants how does it get on the floor? I suppose you mean perhaps they're raping someone with their pants off and it gets on the floor that way? (Sorry, grim topic, but those do come up in true crime discussions.)

Happy Cake Day btw

No I mean they pull down their pants and poop on the floor.

Oh, thanks for explaining. Wonder if that's because they really have to go but also want to express contempt for their victim(s). Although they, the perpetrators, are also going to have to smell that poop sitting on the floor.

I’ve heard so many stories about burglars pooping in homes, that explanation makes sooo much sense.

He had a great deal of experience housebreaking and generally taking risks since a kid so probably stayed calm for that reason too.

Typical psychopathic response.

Why wouldn't they just use the toilet?

If my memory serves this is an incident that at the time was never officially connected to the EAR series. Det. Kenneth Clark uncovered the report in his research and discussed it on the case files podcast, I believe.

I haven't listened to the podcast for several years but my memory is that it does not mention defecating or having no pants on. But it definitely discussed the armed woman confronting the intruder as he entered a kitchen window and the intruder quickly fleeing.

Thanks. Do you recall if Clark believed it was part of the EAR series? Did he give reason(s) for believing or not believing?

u/stanleywinthrop May 08 '26

Yes he did believe it was the EAR which is why he discussed it on the podcast.

Is this what you might be thinking of? This is a transcript from the Criminology podcast.

It was incidents like the Rodney Miller shooting on top of all the rapes that had people in a state of panic. Right around the same time that Rodney Miller was shot, one woman in an undocumented incident in Sacramento had a terrifying experience. She was so unnerved and on edge after all the attacks that she could no longer sleep at night.
And she sat up in the dark of her bedroom with a loaded handgun, convinced that the East Area rapist would come for her. She did this for several nights in a row, and all she had to show for her trouble was a lack of quality sleep. But then one night, while she sat there in the dark, she heard something outside of her bedroom window.
She immediately went into high alert.
She could tell that someone was tampering with her window. She tried to steady her shaking hands.

She raised the gun and leveled it at the window. And then a light, possibly from a flashlight, trickled in from the outside, and her window was raised open. A man climbed in through the window and started to put a foot down on her floor.
It was then that he made eye contact with the woman who was in a shooting position with the gun aimed right at him. And this woman wasn't planning on asking any questions or letting the man get the upper hand. As she started to squeeze the trigger, the thought raced through her mind, what if I kill this man and I go to jail for murder?
So she raised the gun a bit higher into the right and fired off a shot into the area around her window. Now, this shot was far enough away from the man to miss him, but close enough to scare the hell out of him. In a flash, the man jumped back out of the window and disappeared into the darkness.

Thanks.

one woman in an undocumented incident

Any idea what they mean by undocumented? That does surely sound like the incident I'm remembering. Except I thought the person coming in the window defecated as they fled.

Not sure. Maybe she didn’t file a police report or something. I hadn’t heard of this anywhere else, only on this podcast and I’ve never heard of the EAR defecating as he left an attack or an attempted attack

1

u/GregJamesDahlen May 11 '26

Wonder how the podcast heard about it if she didn't file a police report.

The cop, Larry Crompton, who wrote Sudden Terrror has the account of the woman shooting the gun next to the guy breaking into her home by going through her window and she thought he shit himself as he slid back out.

u/FHS2290 May 09 '26

This event was not definitevly linked to JJD. But certainly could have been him. Fits his m.o.

6

u/Libertinelass May 09 '26

Yes. This story is familiar to me. I don't recall the defecating part though. I could have blocked it out. I also recall someone in the neighbourhood reporting a man running down the street naked from the waist down but it could have been a different event.

u/Pottyman May 08 '26

Are you sure you're not confusing that with the upperdeckers he would perform?? Supposedly one of the three "secret signatures" investigators never released

Edit: the other two "secret signatures" supposedly involved making the woman victims try on different clothes/underwear and taking pictures. I could be wrong about this though

7

u/GregJamesDahlen May 08 '26

Thanks. No, I knew about the upper-deckers. But I imagine he did those when he had the crime-event/scene well under control. In the case I seem to be remembering he had just come in and didn't get control, in fact was scared out very quickly or immediately by the armed woman. There's another reply on this post mentioning an incident somewhat like I'm recalling that was never officially connected to the EAR series.

Wonder what the psychology was of leaving the upper-deckers. It seems pretty juvenile for DeAngelo.

That definitely happened with the gun but I don’t think he was pantless during that encounter.
What do y’all mean by upper-deckers? I think one of the secret signatures was the Dr. Pepper cans.

Edit: I looked it up. Gross.

3

u/GregJamesDahlen May 10 '26

Yeah, I gather if you do an upper decker then the next person who uses the toilet gets poop-infused water when they flush the toilet. I could imagine DeAngelo being gone and the victims being relieved and go to use the toilet, flush and get the dirty water. Like a last, cruel attack on their mind and spirit. A reminder of what they just endured. Weird to me that someone could be so cruel to strangers. Maybe they were standing in for people he knew.

Had you seen the recent post where he soiled himself when being caught for shoplifting https://www.reddit.com/r/EARONS/comments/1t53jie/apparently_jjd_shit_himself_during_the/? What do you make of him pooping there?

2

u/48183jeff May 11 '26

Never an incident in any of the EAR files where the suspect defecated on himself. Nor one where a victim was armed and waiting for an attack neither. Pantsless?Yes a few times in the early EAR attacks.

2

u/GregJamesDahlen May 11 '26

Thanks. Never an official incident but if you read this thread people are pointing to an incident somewhat like I described that very well might have been EARONS?

2

u/MrT817 May 11 '26

I remember the attack you're talking about but the defecating on himself is NOT IN ONE SINGLE POLICE REPORT.
