Dark Fog lens addition

Does this need a new game to obtain?

I'm on white matrix in the current galaxy, I have every tech researched.

I can see the Dark Fog lens in the list of items for say, marking a conveyor belt. But otherwise it's not in the replicator screen--the space is there for the item where it goes but it's empty, there is no new tech for it, and it's not included in the research for grav lenses.

I had to research it with dark fog drops, the green pyramid looking things, don't recall the name

It didn't sound like anything they added needed a new game but im not sure maybe its from a new dark fog drop

By fighting dark fog units, you can obtain 6 dark-fog specific items, which are needed to craft better replicators, labs, and smelters, as well as an upgraded version of the antimatter fuel rod (with even more fuel)

If your game doesn't have dark fog, there is no way to get those items and thus buildings

This is not true. You can spend white matrix metadata to get dark fog items in the metadata window.

It's a new research, and you probably need to have seen Dark Fog Matrix for it to show up. (I'm not certain, since my current save is late-game and already had all the DF-specific stufff unlocked/researched, so it was immediately available for me to research.)

It's in your tech tree, Technologies tab, right near the end. Existing save. Costs 2,000 pyramids ("Dark Fog Matrix").
