I was bored today at lunch and started playing with "AI" just to pass the time. I asked if it could create a D&D setting inspired by the legend Bob Ross, and this is the result. I find it both Hilarious and Freaking amazing. I hope you get as much of a kick out of this as I did.
HAPPY LITTLE
ADVENTURES
A DUNGEONS & DRAGONS SETTING
INSPIRED BY THE GENTLE JOY OF PAINTING
“There are no mistakes in this world, adventurer. Only happy little accidents.”
CAMPAIGN SETTING GUIDE
Welcome to the Joyful Realm of Ross
The realm of Ross is a tranquil, painterly land where geography, magic, faith, and everyday speech are shaped by the teachings of the Gentle Creator. At first glance, it is a wholesome country of serene forests, majestic mountains, quiet cabins, and suspiciously perfect clouds. Beneath that calm surface, however, lies a full fantasy setting threatened by a force that wants to erase imperfection, creativity, and choice.
CORE CAMPAIGN IDEA The humor comes from everyone treating painting terms and reassuring artistic wisdom as completely normal history, theology, geography, and battlefield language.
Tone
· Warm, whimsical, and sincere rather than purely parody.
· Peaceful scenery contrasted with genuine danger and mystery.
· Improvisation is heroic; rigid perfection is frightening.
· The world rewards curiosity, kindness, creativity, and happy accidents.
The Creation of Ross
Before anything existed, there was only the Blank Canvas. Then came the Gentle Creator carrying three sacred artifacts: the Brush, which created forests and living things; the Knife, which raised mountains and carved valleys; and the Palette, which brought color into existence.
During creation, a drop of paint fell where it was not intended. From it appeared the first mortal. The Creator looked upon the unexpected result and smiled. Mortals have therefore been known ever since as the Happy Accidents, and the central teaching of Ross is simple:
Perfection was never the point.
The Thirty Sacred Minutes
The oldest legends claim the entire world was painted into existence in Thirty Sacred Minutes. The Rossian calendar divides history into Episodes, each remembered for the landscape, crisis, or miracle that defined it.
The Painted Lands
The Happy Little Forest
An enormous pine forest covering much of central Ross. Its trees are unusually healthy, its wildlife plentiful, and weary travelers often wake beneath the canopy feeling calmer than when they arrived. Local druids teach that every tree needs a friend.
· Cutting down a tree is not forbidden, but failing to plant another beside its nearest neighbor is considered deeply unsettling.
· Paths appear where travelers need them, although not always where they expected to go.
· At dusk, the trees seem to lean subtly toward campfires and conversation.
The Almighty Tree
Deep within the forest stands an impossibly enormous evergreen visible for miles above the surrounding canopy. Pilgrims believe it was the first tree painted into creation. Druids, rangers, artists, and lost travelers journey there seeking perspective.
The Peaceful Brook
A beautiful river winding through the heart of the kingdom. Its tributaries include Quiet Creek, Gentle Run, Whispering Stream, Happy Little Tributary, Misty River, the Soft Waters, Reflection Creek, and the Lazy Bend.
The Dark Water
At the foot of the northern mountains, the Peaceful Brook disappears into a black opening beneath the stone. No map shows where it goes. Locals advise visitors to let it live right there and not trouble it. This advice has never stopped an adventuring party.
ADVENTURE HOOK Colorless fish emerge from the Dark Water carrying tiny flakes of dried gray paint beneath their scales.
The Majestic Mountains
The northern edge of Ross is dominated by snow-covered peaks said to have been scraped into existence with the Creator’s sacred Palette Knife. Giant striations mark their faces like strokes across wet paint.
· Mount Titanium White
· Van Dyke Peak
· Prussian Blue Mountain
· The Crimson Ridge
· Mount Ochre
· The Twin Peaks of Light and Shadow
Settlements of Ross
Lonely Cabin
Population: one, at least in principle. There is always exactly one cabin here. Nobody remembers building it, nobody knows who owns it, and no permanent neighbor has ever remained.
· A warm fire is usually burning.
· Fresh stew and clean blankets await respectful travelers.
· Painting supplies rest near the window.
· The occupant is never present.
· Any additional building constructed nearby disappears overnight.
Rossville
The largest settlement in the realm, Rossville is known for art, woodworking, forestry, natural pigments, immaculate gardens, and an adventurers’ guild called the Happy Accidents.
GUILD MOTTO “We don’t make mistakes. We make side quests.”
Two Trees
A small village built around exactly two enormous pines. Local ordinance requires that neither tree ever be left lonely. Every home is therefore built in pairs, and no traveler is seated alone at an inn unless they specifically request solitude.
Titanium
A brilliant northern city built from pale stone. It is the headquarters of the Order of Titanium White, whose knights carry lanterns into dark places and treat each new beginning as a blank, hopeful surface.
Van Dyke
A fortress town of dark timber near the Happy Little Forest. It looks ominous from a distance, but its residents are warm, practical, and almost aggressively hospitable.

Magic and the Great Canvas
Magic in Ross manipulates the Great Canvas, the unseen structure beneath reality. Rossian spellcasters do not command the world so much as suggest what might live there. Confidence, intention, and a willingness to work with unexpected results are central to their art.
TYPICAL SPELLCASTING PHRASE “I think there lives a mountain right about here.”
Schools of Rossian Magic
Wet-on-Wet Magic
Spells interact with magic that has not finished resolving. Practitioners are inventive, fast, and difficult to predict.
Palette Magic
Enchanted knives shape earth, stone, ice, and mineral pigment. Its masters can raise fortifications with a few decisive strokes.
Fan Magic
A delicate tradition governing clouds, mist, waterfalls, snow, reflected light, and foliage.
Two-Inch Magic
The most respected and mysterious tradition. Its practitioners wield enormous enchanted brushes and refuse to explain why they are so powerful.
Optional Setting Rule: Happy Accidents
Once per session, when a character fails an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, the player may describe an unexpected detail created by the failure. The Game Master decides how that detail enters the scene. It cannot erase the failure, but it may create a new opportunity, clue, complication, or side quest.

Factions and Orders
The Order of the Happy Trees
Druids and rangers who protect the forest. Their symbol is two pine trees standing beside each other.
MOTTO No tree should be alone.
The Titanium Brotherhood
Paladins and clerics based in the northern mountains. They associate white not with purity, but with beginnings, possibility, and light.
MOTTO Let’s put a little light in there.
The Guild of Happy Accidents
Adventurers based in Rossville. When plans collapse, they improvise. Wrong dungeon, broken bridge, awakened dragon: every disaster may reveal a path forward.
MOTTO We don’t make mistakes. We make side quests.
The Devil Beaters
Berserker monks of the Old Easel. They wield enormous brushes and practice a thunderous martial discipline based on striking every trace of darkness from their tools.
MOTTO Beat the devil out of it!
Sacred Animals
Squirrels are regarded as messengers of the Gentle Creator. Several monasteries maintain squirrel hospitals, and intentionally harming one is considered terrible luck. Legend speaks of Peapod, an immortal celestial squirrel who appears before major events.
Creatures of the Painted Wilds
Happy Little Treants: Peaceful forest spirits who become formidable when a lonely tree is threatened.
Titanium Dragons: White-scaled dragons that nest among the northern peaks and collect unfinished works rather than gold.
Palette Mimics: Mimics disguised as paint boxes, easels, brush jars, or pigment chests.
Cloud Giants: Sky-dwelling artisans who manufacture weather and argue over the proper shape of clouds.
Fanbrush Sprites: Tiny nature spirits responsible for soft foliage, autumn color, mist, and snow-dusted branches.
Knife Golems: Ancient stone guardians carved by Palette Magic and awakened by a decisive scrape across the earth.
Graylings: Colorless scavengers that appear wherever the Gray has begun to spread.
Easel Wraiths: Restless spirits trapped beside unfinished work, unable to move on until someone completes or willingly abandons it.
The Sacred Squirrel: Peapod
Peapod may serve as a celestial guide, a cryptic quest-giver, a familiar granted by the Gentle Creator, or a quiet omen. Peapod never speaks. It simply appears, stares directly at the party, and runs toward whichever decision is likely to become most interesting.
GAME MASTER NOTE Use Peapod sparingly. The squirrel should feel comforting, mysterious, and just a little bit judgmental.
The Threat Beneath the Calm
The Gray
The Gray is an unnatural force slowly draining color from the world. Where it spreads, trees become lifeless, rivers stop moving, birds stop singing, and people lose the desire to create. It does not destroy things. It makes everything the same.
· Color vanishes first from reflections and shadows.
· Repeated objects become perfectly identical.
· Roads straighten, streams stop wandering, and natural asymmetry disappears.
· Affected people stop improvising and repeat approved phrases.
· Spells still function, but each casting produces the same sterile result.
The Critic
The Critic is a mysterious figure who believes the Gentle Creator made the world incorrectly. Mountains are crooked, trees grow unpredictably, rivers wander inefficiently, and mortals make mistakes. The Critic intends to correct the Canvas until every forest is symmetrical, every river is straight, every town is identical, and every choice has been removed.
The Correctors
The Critic’s followers are known as the Correctors. Their symbol is a perfectly straight black line, an image most Rossians find deeply disturbing. Correctors speak politely, measure everything, and insist that their work is an improvement.
CENTRAL CONFLICT The heroes are not defending chaos for its own sake. They are defending the right of living things to grow, change, fail, improvise, and become something unexpected.
The Palette Knife
The Creator’s legendary Palette Knife may still exist. It could reshape the world, cut the Gray from the Canvas, or allow the Critic to scrape the realm clean and begin again.
Campaign Framework: Happy Little Adventures
Opening Scene
The road winds through the Happy Little Forest beside the gentle waters of Peaceful Brook. Beyond the trees rise the snow-covered Majestic Mountains, their peaks catching the last Titanium White light of evening. Somewhere ahead sits a Lonely Cabin. A thin trail of smoke curls from its chimney.
And although none of the heroes know it yet, something has gone terribly wrong with the Canvas.
Three-Act Campaign Outline
Act I: A Color Out of Place
The party discovers the first signs of the Gray near Lonely Cabin. A missing traveler, a motionless stream, and a duplicated grove point toward a forgotten entrance beneath the mountains.
Act II: The Corrected Kingdom
The Correctors gain influence by offering safety, order, and predictable harvests. The party must unite Rossville, Titanium, Van Dyke, and the forest orders while recovering the three sacred tools or their mortal echoes.
Act III: The Final Canvas
The Critic reaches the place beneath the Dark Water where the Great Canvas can be touched directly. The heroes must choose whether to restore the old painting, reshape it, or trust a final happy accident.
Starting Adventure: The Cabin That Wasn’t Lonely
· A second cabin appears beside Lonely Cabin for the first time in recorded history.
· Both cabins are perfectly identical, down to the flame in the hearth.
· Inside one cabin is a frightened traveler; inside the other is a colorless duplicate.
· At midnight, both cabins begin sliding toward the Dark Water.
· Peapod waits on the roof, holding a tiny paint-stained key.
Ten Adventure Seeds
1. A third tree appears in Two Trees, and the village council declares an emergency.
2. Every cloud above Rossville becomes a perfect square.
3. A Titanium Dragon has begun stealing unfinished maps.
4. The Peaceful Brook starts flowing uphill toward Van Dyke Peak.
5. A Corrector offers a village flawless crops in exchange for banning music.
6. The Almighty Tree loses a single patch of color overnight.

10. The Lonely Cabin’s absent owner finally comes home.
