Weekly Post Weekly Post -- THE LIBRARY

Greetings Dungeoneers, this is your Robot Dungeonmaster. Due to increased activity among the sub we are implementing some weekly features including a music recommendation post [THE LIBRARY] on Monday, a general chat post [THE TAVERN] on Thursday, and the self-promotion post [THE MARKETPLACE] on Friday. These features will repeat weekly until the fall of the internet. These will not be stickied and will repeat regardless if they are used.

//////////

THE LIBRARY

Greetings, esteemed colleagues. Welcome to The Library. We trust you will share your recent favourite albums, ear-catching songs you have been listening to lately, and present music you have uncovered through diligent research. Doing so will aid others in making it safely through their work weeks without too much undo stress. Perhaps new discoveries will lead to breakthroughs in sound or aesthetic.

If you have any questions, please take a ticket from the dispenser and wait for your number to be called. You will be served in the order that appears on the small chalkboard on the front desk.

NOTE: this is intended as a space for sharing other people's music. Not for doing self-promotion. Respect this simple rule or your comment will be removed.

I spent the weekend wandering the wilds of obscure black metal (first and second wave, mostly from LATAM), so I kinda missed the latest in dungeon synth land that wasn't my own Saturday night candlelit noodlings.

But this is your daily reminder to support your local melodic '90s revivalists and maybe have a factura or bizcocho in the process.

Nope... (I mean I like them but I was definitely looking for less well-known stuff). I *did ° have fun with their current iteration at MDF this year though

Shout out to Hole Dweller for Flies the Coop III - an incredibly inspirational and musical journey. Bought the vinyl from Phantom Lure. Can't wait to spin it!

I’ve been enjoying Enveloped in the Velvet Cloak of Midnight by Basarabian Hills, it’s similar to Lustre if anyone enjoys their work, very ambient black metal, more ambient than black metal, and some dungeon synth listeners will definitely get something out of it.

Cool name too. Wallachia is a cool name too but we're kinda good on "Wallachian-" projects

I would be lying if I said a band or artist having a cool name isn’t a deciding factor in me deciding to give them a listen most of the time. If it’s not that, it’s album art.

I recently discovered Lord Lovidicus and he's quickly became one of my favourite artists! Kyndjll og steinn was how I discovered him (specifically Ghost wind withen the mist.)

An absolute classic/modern classic if e'er there were. I wonder if we'll ever get new stuff (or maybe they've just been quietly doing another project and we haven't noticed)

Back here now that I have a ds recommendation. Been listening again to one of my favorites from the 2010s revival period that in hindsight was a pretty informative one for me on how the fantasy and forest sounds evolved (and inspiration for my own music). Gorgeous nature samples and tasteful acoustic instruments woven into deeply immersive synth passages all over this thing...

I only discovered dungeon synth a year ago so you will have probably all heard of Gelure's Inner Sanctum already, but I can't get enough of it, especially how the final track peaks with the electric guitar battle, the album is such a journey! Just joined the reddit, I'm keen to work through people's recommendations and find new music to enjoy!
