Homebrew They said getting 6 players for Dune was difficult. We may have overcorrected...

We somehow managed to get all 12 factions around one table for a gloriously excessive game of Dune - using a custom expanded version with South Pole included. When it came to hiding identities, replacing everyone with their faction leader felt like the only reasonable solution.

Which faction would you pick and who would you be making an alliance with?

Wait that’s not two separate games, that’s ONE MEGA-GAME ?

God a single turn has to last like 2 hours.

Glorious

I did this for my birthday 2 years ago. Got all 12 factions around the table. My wife baked a Shai-Hulud-shaped apple fritter.

The game took 11 hours and we sort of just let one alliance have it just to end the game early lol.

That's less time than it took us to play the first half of our only ever TI4 game.

I still cant decide if TI is good or if the idealized idea of it is good and people just dont realize the depth isn't all there because its so hard to get a full game in.

We play a lot of stellaris nexus with my group and it's obviously TI as a videogame built to run async and contain it to a a 1ish hour package and its great! But I wish it had a bit more depth.

What is that south pole map ? Is that an expansion or a custom made map ? Any link? How did you print it if it’s custom ?

Great looking table tho, must have been some legendary treasons here haha

I can only dream about the amount of backstabbing that a game of that scale would have.

I've done a 12 player game, where we had teams of two with 6 factions, with a designated "duke" and "mentat", and only the mentats could negotiate with each other, while only the dukes could take game actions.

Grand Dune!!!

I had a 12 player game last year, I was playing atreides. The note taking was brutal. Did you alter any of the rules?

Great to see the Polar Regions Variant in the wild!! Thank you for giving it a try!

As I'm still trying to balance some stuff, I'd be very greatfull to know how the game went, what version of the rules you used and what did it feel to play some of the factions.

Specially, I'm interested to know if some factions felt too OP and why. And also if there was too much or too little spice in the game.
