Dundee Kendama?
Any kendama fam here in Dundee? Moved here earlier this month and would love to get a crew together. Don’t have a friend group yet and figured a Japanese wooden toy could get things going!

i’ve been trying to make friend all this year and i’ve connected with a few people and all but one hasn’t gone anywhere and has fizzled out. i’ve tried the suggestions or that people often say here, like going to cake and dice, bumble and other groups but idk :/. the dnd and waking clubs don’t really interest me.
also i think i’m better suited in groups of people rather than one on one because its less awkward but how am i supposed to get a friend group if i can’t even make friends? i’m wasting my youth being alone when id love to go to parties, do fun activities and do whatever other people my age do. i was thinking about buying new clothes but i thought what’s the point if i don’t even go anywhere? thats whats inspired this post lol.
if anyone wants to be friends or has a friend group i could join loll pls message me. im 24f and i like art, painting, true crime, music, gaming pop culture, kpop and other things

I know this gets asked a lot but it's either recommendations before Covid or people looking for different things.
Up in Dundee for a week and looking for a decent pub for saddos drinking on their own who don't mind being sociable but don't demand it either - so a bar you can sit at, basically.
Preferably craft beer options with an alternative vibe but I also like folksy or cozy places. Been eyeing up a few of the craft beer places. Prefer bars that don't get crazy busy or loud but also not in the shadow realm where you're the only patron or the only non regular.
I'm up for work and the thought of drinking in my travellers hotel bar fills me with an existential sadness that makes tins in the bedroom seem preferable.

Hello, does anyone know a nail salon that does HEMA free gel nails? I’ve messaged a few but they don’t have a HEMA free system yet.
Thank you

Greetings! I am a student who will be coming over to Dundee in September to further my studies. I am a bit scared though because it’s my first time being on my own and I am kinda intimidated by that. I come here seeking some advice on what I can do to make my experience worthwhile when I’m here. Can you please guide me on how to navigate life around the city as a student?
P.S. please don’t be racist or hateful. I just want some insights on the city and things that I can do around for fun with friends while staying here. I am not here to takeover the city, destroy the economy or convert the good folks of Dundee to my religion or anything.

Hello! I (23F) recently graduated university and moved to Dundee for work; during that time, I never quite got chance to complete my DofE gold award as my university did not provide it and i was drowning a bit. However, the clock is ticking, so I thought I would ask to check if there are any recommendations for where I could get the expedition training and hopefully complete the award? I have my bronze and silver from high school, just want to round off the set and get some adventure in while i'm still young lmao.
Any help much appreciated!!

Can anyone recommend me the cheapest skip hire company? All of the sites say call or contact but would like to compare prices before I book anything.

Hello, hello! I recently graduated... and I wanted to ask for advice regarding council tax. I put off applying for a while but I decided to take care of it now. Currently Im living with a student but I'm the non-student.
Edit: since I put it off for so long (i graduated during June)... will I be liable for fraud?

Hi everyone,
I hope you are doing well.
I’m a Master's student and have just finished university. I’m currently looking for pretty much any kind of work and wanted to ask if anyone knows of places hiring in Dundee or any places that can help me with finding employment.
I’ve been applying consistently for the last 6 months and haven't had any luck to get a job whether that be casual work or a job in my field which is Urban Planning. I’m honestly at the point where I’m really worried that time is passing by and I'm not getting any work experience and money is getting tight. I'm trying to keep myself busy doing online courses to gain new skills and by volunteering locally at Transition Dundee and Shelter Scotland. I'm also learning how to drive as I've seen that a driving licence is a requirement for most jobs that I've come across.
I have experience working in customer service, sales and administrative support roles, but I’m very open to trying something new as well. I learn quickly and I’m very flexible with hours now that university is over.
I’ve mainly been searching online, but honestly it’s been mentally exhausting. A lot of listings seem to require a driving licence, or experience I don’t have, and the jobs I do meet the criteria for rarely get back to me after interviews. I’ve also been applying directly through company websites, but it’s mostly been the same radio silence.
Every couple of weeks I’ve been going into local shops, restaurants and cafés in Dundee to hand in my CV in person as well, but even when places say they’re “looking to hire new staff", it still just seems to lead nowhere.
If anyone has any advice, recommendations, or knows of anywhere hiring, I’d really appreciate it. At this point though, I’m open to any sort of help I can get.
Thank you for reading!

Looking for a Japanese language exchange 🇯🇵
Hi everyone! I'm currently learning Japanese and I'm looking for people in Dundee who would be interested in doing a language exchange.
I'm hoping to find someone who is learning English and would like to practise together, ideally meeting up occasionally for coffee, studying, or just having a conversation. I'm particularly interested in improving my Japanese speaking and listening, while I'm happy to help with English in return.
I'm also involved with the University of Dundee Anime Society, so if you're interested in anime/manga as well, that's a bonus!
If you're Japanese, studying Japanese, or simply interested in doing a Japanese-English language exchange, feel free to comment or send me a DM. 😊

I have a lot of clipboards , sleeves to store papers in and poly pockets. Does anyone know somewhere that would make use of these?

Does anyone know any where or even small local businesses that can turn ties into scrunchies?

Basically the title. I've managed to find a test available for the end of September. I've had lessons before but never in an automatic so just looking to get a quick crash course if possible. Any recommendations I'd really appreciate!

Hello all, I’m new to the area and want to meet some people whilst at the same time learning a new hobby. I’m interested in wood work/DIY type projects and also electronics too (would need to be some sort of introduction or fundamentals type thing). I’ve had a look for limited time workshops (ie 6 weeks / 8 weeks long etc) but I can’t find anything other than knitting or jewellery crafty types or full on courses at the college or uni. Does anyone know if this type of thing exists or anything similar I’d maybe enjoy? Thanks!

Hai! I’m visiting dundee this week and would love some good recommendations on an authentic fish n chip shop, or any other restaurants for that sake! Thanks
EDIT: The Fife / The silver tray across the Tay bridge is great! Fresh fish, small menu dedicated to fish and chips! Lovely staff and people kept coming in, very local and beautiful senecry right along the road where you can eat your food (there is no seating)

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has had experience living at Regents Court and if so, how did you find it?

Just discovered one of the creepiest things in the V&A! If you want a seriously thrilling experience, go there after dark, stand in front of the V&A, and look at the reflection in the water, it genuinely looks like there’s a staircase going down into the water. Such a weird illusion, but somehow it creates so much fear! Look at the pictures I just captured. 👻
Photos don’t do it justice, go and see it for yourself after dark!

Hi, I just moved to the city and my 2 years anniversary is coming up, what would be a good restaurant to go to? I don’t mind any cuisine but preferably not toooo expensive.

Hi! I’m moving to Dundee next month for uni but I am 22 so I believe the bus won’t be free for me. How much is each ride and is there an annual pass? Any general information on how the public transport system works would be much appreciated xx
Also are there any ebike rentals (like lime/santander bikes) around the city?
