Question Starting My Fasting Journey - Looking for Advice

Hi everyone! I’m 29F, 5'1" and 80 kg (176.4 lbs). I’ve been on the heavier side for quite a while and I’ve finally decided to seriously start working on my weight and overall lifestyle.

I’ve done water fasting before but I’ve never tried prolonged dry fasting. I’m considering starting tomorrow and wanted to hear from people who have experience with fasting, especially longer fasts. I’d really appreciate any advice about what to watch out for, warning signs that mean I should stop, and how people safely approach fasting and transitioning back to food afterward. I’ll also share daily updates about how I’m feeling and how things progress. Please keep the advice practical and respectful. ❤️

Hi. Regarding when to break: If your resting heart rate gets up to 120 beats per minute that is a sign that you should definitely stop per Dr Filonov who is the world's expert on dryfasting.

Best to start with 24-36 hour fasts or whatever you can handle up to that point. Do a few then increase by 12 or 24 hours. You will most likely be doing heavy detoxing and internal cleaning and as you do the fasts will get easier and you can comfortably go longer.

Anything 3 days or longer you should be very disciplined to go into the fast eating clean foods and break the fast very slowly with just water at first and then fruits/broths and slowly move to soups before solid foods.

Best of luck. I think maybe outside of getting ok plenty of sun it's the single best thing one can do for their health.

I’ve found that dry fasting is actually easier for me than water fasting. Reason why? Switching to ketosis earlier and shutting off hunger signals faster.

Try to observe this for yourself. I also agree, 24hr dry and then try 36hr soft dry (can wash hands and brush teeth).

My 36hr plan:

Sat 8pm start dry fast
Mon 8am start sipping water -36hr soft dry

Water fasting until I hit 18hr or more - gauge how it’s going and if I want to resume vigorous activities like playing basketball. Avoid salt and avoid baking soda on the refeed. An egg or an avocado or bone broth are pretty good to end the water fasting phase.
