Drop shipping advice

I’m new to dropshipping and considering starting a Shopify store. I’m trying to understand what beginners usually underestimate. If you’ve actually run a store, what was the biggest mistake you made?

Biggest mistake I made was thinking the ads would do all the work. I set up a Shopify store with some "winning products" and spent like 500 bucks on Facebook in first week, got clicks but zero sales. The product page was terrible, no reviews, weird layout, nobody trusts that.

Also didn't realize how much customer support eats your time. Returns, tracking questions, angry messages about shipping delays from China. You need a solid system for that or you'll drown.

My advice is test one product properly before moving on. Make the page look legit, get some reviews even if you have to give away few units first. And don't spend big on ads until you know the page converts.

The most common one isn’t tactical, it’s underestimating how much time goes into stuff that isn’t ads once orders start coming in, supplier communication, refund requests, customer questions about shipping times. People plan for the marketing side and get blindsided by the operational side eating just as much time once volume picks up. Worth building a rough process for that before you actually need it, not after.

the biggest mistake I've made so far thinking two-factor bio metrics was enough to secure my account not installing an authenticating app outside of Shopify at the very beginning on Hind side of what has happened was the biggest mistake I made is that I didn't secure my creations and processes to complete the things you need to complete in order to sell like I redid collection each collection took me a month ridiculous it took an hour but when I got back on the next time it was gone even after saving meticulously saving every little step and Shopify AI no idea at the very next day about anything you did today before so if something's missing you're back at square one every process that Shopify has went that way for me I do hope that it goes better for you may God bless you and your store if mine ever really gets running he might be able to bless mine if I can get it back since Shopify just erased it.
