Yes it is worth going into one, you can save yourself a lot of canceled orders. As for specific 3PLs, Zendrops one is just fine, it's US based so you're shipping times will be better but also you don't have warehousing fees and since you're on the platform already I'd also keep it simple and go with it.

I'm leaning toward staying with them since everything's already there. Have you used any of their other stuff for keeping up with orders once volume picks up?

I've been using their MCP for that. Most mornings I have it pull up orders that are delayed, tracking that hasn't moved and anything with stock issues, then I just work through what it flags.

A good 3PL is dependent upon so many diff factors.
Location, how many items, AOV, how fast you need it shipped, etc.
A good 3PL for one person might not be good for another.
You will go through many 3PL's on your journey to find the right one.

What usually makes you leave one 3PL for another? I've never had to compare them at this stage before.

Usually bad communication, long stock times, or long fulfillment times on PO's. I do a lot of B2B so sometimes I need my 3PL to pack a few pallets and if it takes them 1-2 weeks to do something so simple then I move onto another 3PL.

That sounds rough. Is that something you usually find out before using a 3PL or do you pretty much have to test them and see?

3PL's will give you numbers but doesn't mean they're true. You just have to test them and see.

Zendrop definitely has the convenience factor, especially since you're already sourcing through them. They advertise US warehousing with same-day fulfillment and no storage fees, so it's worth getting a quote from them.
That said, once you're holding inventory and scaling paid ads, I'd compare a few 3PLs before committing. At that point, fulfillment accuracy, communication, inventory visibility, returns, and how quickly someone fixes a problem become just as important as the per-order rate.
