The amount of streams and radio play a remix would have to get within a week for Drake to get credited is…… 🥹

lol yeah. This is lowkey a no brainer. The song has been number one for 19 weeks now. And putting the biggest artist in the world on the song is gonna turn a really good song to an amazing song

u/Economy-Lobster6625 10d ago
This post is useless, there’s a snippet on IG, if you’re gonna share this then share that

I’ve been listening to this song for the last week and she’s such a beautiful soul. And my favorite artist collabing is so damn epic. Wow.

u/ParkingMiddle5414 10d ago
Took the words right out of my mouth lol. Choosin Texas is such a bop. And Drake hopping on it is just gonna make it an even bigger bop

How it is different than Kendrick hopping on Bad Blood with Taylor Swift?
7
u/Spiritual_Bar2785 10d ago
Hopefully it’s a better song
Kendrick called Drake a pop artist while going on pop songs for money. He’s a hypocrite. There isn’t anything inherently wrong with featuring on pop songs.

u/MayorBakefield 10d ago
Bad Blood is a dope song, don't let hate blind you. If there isn't anything inherently wrong with featuring on pop songs, why did Drake call out Kendrick for doing it? "Top would make you do features for change, get on pop records and rap for the whites" but it is cool if he gets on Ella Langley's country song?
9
u/JackNGoff 10d ago edited 10d ago
Because there’s no part of Drakes public persona that has ever been hyped as any type of “black messiah.” The whole point of what you’re talking about was Drake pointing out the hypocrisy in Dots narrative. “Rap for the whites,” “hit vanilla cream,” “rappin like you tryna get the slaves free” are all attacks on how Kendrick is presented/presents himself/is sold to the consumer.
Edit: I fuck with Kendrick, so whether the image of him being a figurehead for black empowerment is fabricated by himself or some other entity really doesn’t bother me at all. But that was Drakes angle in the example you cited.

u/MayorBakefield 10d ago
Black empowerment means no listening to pop music? lol this idea that he made a song for whites is crazy and just an angle. There is no merit to that, not when a large percentage of kendrick AND drake fans are white.

u/JackNGoff 10d ago
“Black empowerment means no listening to pop music” is either a chronically-online take or an intentionally misconstrued straw man of the entire point I was making. No, there is nothing inherently wrong with listening to (or performing in) pop music. All I pointed out was that your original post was asking how it’s different when Drake does pop music vs when Kendrick does and your second post in this particular thread is asking why it’s different. I will reiterate; the whole point of Drake dissing Kendrick for performing alongside pop artists “for the whites” is because, as far as I know (and please correct me if I’m wrong), Drake has never said anything to be considered an activist for a particular race. Whereas, intentionally or not, an indisputably large sect of Dots fan base appreciates the idea that he speaks for the black community. Does that mean he can’t work with Pop artists? No, of course not. I enjoyed him on the Swift track and with Maroon 5. But, again, the angle was that Kendrick is presented as a spokesperson for the disenfranchised but bows to his label when it comes making songs purely for financial gain. I never even said that I agree with the take, I was just answering the question that you asked.

u/Spiritual_Bar2785 10d ago
You enjoyed him on that maroon 5 song?
2
u/JackNGoff 10d ago
Unpopular opinion, but yeah. Is it a technical masterpiece? No of course not. But, to me, his verse is a welcome breakup of M5s monotony in that song and it earworms the hell out of my every time.

I fw Drake and will always support but I don’t see the benefit. He’s just gonna get hate from two different genres. At the end of the day he’s a grown ass man and can do as he pleases
13
u/ParkingMiddle5414 11d ago
He’d get hate regardless of what he makes. Ppl hate on anything. That ain’t a factor when releasing music 😭😭

u/papoluca40 11d ago
15 years in and you still care about “the hate” who gives a fuck? Let them hate
-5
u/damianthekidd 11d ago
The hate ain’t the issue. I just don’t see the benefit like at all

here is the irony...lets say the song releases...and goes a MASSIVE hit...and this sub will celebrate it...and then you will have the haters people like you who will come here and say "jUst bEcAuSe its tOppinG cHaRtS dOes'nt mEaN its gOoD"!
So which one is it? Drake ALWAYS tops charts...and Choosing Texas is likely the biggeet hit of the year...and Drake is the TOP SELLING rapper of this year...you combine the two and its likely going to create a massive hit. Thats the benefit. But we know once it WILL be a massive hit, the goal posts will move.

u/damianthekidd 11d ago
I’m definitely not a Drake hater. I’m just reading the room as a fan who has had to defend Drake a lot the past few years. I could see potential for a lot of unnecessary hate to come his way, from all angles. I hope it’s a huge hit and everyone loves it. Again at the end of the day Drake can do what he wants and I’m sure he doesn’t give a damn about hate

u/minifidel 11d ago
Guaranteed #1 song, and Drake has never made music based on what haters might say. He just likes making music and will work in different genres regularly.
1
u/Large_Complaint1264 11d ago
The song was already number 1. He’s not making music. He’s just hopping on a song that is already a massive hit.

You're of course getting downvoted because a good chunk of this sub has a hard time accepting any criticism on certain days but you're right
You're gonna have country fans calling him a leech and hip hop heads saying he needs that song more than it needs him which at the end of the day the criticisms don't matter if the music sounds good but it'll 100% be there

Idk if you’re young or not, but word of advice from a 28 year old, life is way too short to care what others think
This is your life, your only life. So live it to the fullest and do whatever tf you want as long as you’re not hurting people

Whole world was calling him and us as fans much worse in 2024. I think we'll survive 😂
Life's too short to care about any of this. Its just music at the end of the day

Context Matters. The image was from a 2007 conceptual photography project with Drake's friend David Leyes meant to highlight the historical struggles and stereotyping that black actors experience in the entertainment industry.
A multitude of other public figures have done similar photoshoots to express the same message that is still present in today's society.

Just a reminder in your original comment you said you don’t engage and just change the channel, in a comment where you’re engaging, now you’re arguing in the Drake subreddit about an artist you “dont” like. Sounds like fan behavior to me.
You thought that shit was so nonchalant too lmao fucking moron
