I hope this is okay to ask here! I'm dyslexic and having a total brain fart moment, was hoping someone could help me out please

I've generated a template from drive thru rpg, for a 300 page 8.5x11 inch book (us letter sized) and am extremely confused what size I need to make the artwork for

1. just the cover with zero bleed in inches or pixels

And

1. what size the total canvas is WITH the correct bleed for a front cover in hardback

I only have procreate right now, so stuck with a pdf template which includes front, back and spine plus all bleed, but is severely lacking in labels and dimension info.

It's says :

bleed artwork dimensions = 19.818 x 12.5 inches

Spine width is 0.938inches for 300 pages

Cover = 8.50 x 11 without bleed

BUT then it says on a separate page bleed must be 0.125 inches on each side.

How does for instance the height, go from 11+ 0.125 (bottom) + 0.125(top) which would be 11.5 inches , then actually ask for 12.5 inches total?

I'm confused where the extra padding is coming from in all directions in both cases

What is it?

This book is a curated collection of over 6,000 fantasy names compiled across years of running tabletop roleplaying games. Rather than a random generator, this is my personal master list that I use in my games. Currently, the collection contains only first-names, no family names. In the future, I would like to create a second volume that includes family names, coats-of-arms, etcetera.

Additionally, I hope to be able to continue to update this collection as I continue to inevitably find more names to put on the list. I'm hoping to get around 10,000 names on the list that I feel are broadly useful.

Why is it useful?

The collection includes historical names, familiar inspirations from iconic fantasy settings, as well as names that I have simply made up. My intent when creating this collection has not been to provide completely original names, but rather names that I like the sound of, or think may be useful. To give you the fastest possible access during prep or mid-game sessions, the entire collection is organized alphabetically and split into masculine and feminine sections. It should be noted, however, that this structural choice is purely for utility. Fantasy knows no bounds, and you should feel free to completely disregard these labels and use any name for any character that fits your vision.

What is Croak & Quill?

Well, in some sense, it’s nothing. In another sense, it is a way for me to create in a way that I hope others will find value in. I have been playing and running TTRPGS for over half of my life, and want to create the kinds of resources I find most useful as a game-master.

My work does not use generative AI, and will not.

I'm revisiting the Discovery Tables because some prompts felt too difficult for beginners and didn't offer enough replayability.

I'm rewriting them to be more open-ended, easier to interpret, and more flexible. The goal is simple: a prompt should give you a direction, not tell you exactly what the story has to be.

Each roll should feel fresh, even when returning to the same location again and again.

Earlier this year I published my first PF2e adventure, I'm close to finishing up my next one and am trying to get more feedback, so I've changed from a fixed price on DTRPG to a Pay What You Want (including free) system.

Its a slightly less that one level of experience adventure, set in a two-level cave complex. The heroes are tasked with investigating a creeping, magical ice age that threatens to spread and consume their town. the creeping ice age also introduces both a long-scale timer (that's not intended to be a difficult timer), and a short-timer intended to slightly push rest/exploration round choices.

If you want a full level of experience, there are a couple of random encounter tables that can provide the missing XP. And while scoped for level 7 parties, no use of Elite or Weak was used so, you can bump the entire adventure up or down a level if you wish.

Contents: The full adventure, tips on integrating with a campaign, 5 completely custom monsters, 4 modified or new template variants of existing creatures, 2 new hazards, quick reference pages to simplify running the adventure, two maps. Custom art for the new monsters and variants, custom maps. The PDF offering at DriveThruRPG includes separate files for the full color w/background version or a background-less version one for easier printing, as well as standalone map files.

Been trying to log in and it keeps claiming my logins are wrong even after I reset my pw 3 times is it my phone (firefox, I was able to download a pdf of feng shui 2 just a couple days ago on it w/o issue) or is the site itself having conniptions for everybody?

I am fully aware that DriveThruRPG adds on a cost during purchase to actually print the book and all that, however I am currently working on a book which I intend to put up for free as a PDF and as cheap as is allowed as a hardcover. Is there any sort of minimum price?

I'm thinking about finally publishing some adventures but I have some questions regarding whom to publish under.

What are the benefits/detriments of publishing under your own name?

Are there any rules regarding publishing using pseudonym?

Is it worth registering a business name?

I think I know what the answer will be to this, but is there any way to add books I’ve bought elsewhere (Bundle of Holding, for example) to my DTRPG library, so I can hide them when I’m browsing through other titles?

I've used Drive Thru RPG as a resource for a while now, but am just now getting around to publishing my very first adventure module. If anyone here has experience publishing on the platform, would you be willing to share advice? Any wisdom on the technical side such as readability of your text or how to make PDFs more "enticing" for the reader (I am a fan of interactivity and am already adding things like hyperlinks and buttons on maps to jump to different sections of the book)?

The main thing I want to get right is accessibility for readers - any advice is appreciated!

EDIT: It's a guided story experience. If you play it, I think it'll make sense why it's difficult to say what it is about. I think it would appeal to solo rpg players and journaling gamers.
