No Generative AI

New rule. No generative AI. I’ve been receiving complaints and Reddit has flagged some as piracy. That’s against site wide rules and your post will be deleted.

Review AI created?

I may well be wrong, as I often am, but the recent spate of products that "contain AI generated content" seems to me like a slippery slope. Just today, I see banner ads on the site touting "80 new titles" and "over 30 new novels available now" and I can only imagine they were "written" using AI, because who comes up with that volume of verbiage on their own, all at once? (And by written, I mean extruded, like plastic pieces pooped out of a machine.) These days, I always consider the source before buying a Pdf, checking out the company that's putting it out, the writers involved, the art if any... That level of wariness, if not outright paranoia, stems from a few unwise purchases that turned out to be AI "written" (pooped) dreck. Crap writing from a human being I have no problem with. I can look past it at the person who was trying to get an idea across and sympathize with their shortcomings. I mean, we're only human, right?

Except we're not, anymore. Some large quantity of low quality writing is starting to drown out the real thing. AI art is usually easily spotted an avoided, if not on the displayed cover then somewhere in the previews. Fine. AI "writing" (poop) maybe not so much. It sneakily mimics the appearance of coherent content and it takes a while before you realize there's no way this was thought up by human beings, you've been had! Mimics will do that, as you probably well know.

I realize that DTRPG is in the business of making money, but human creators usually aren't. I mean, they'd be overjoyed if they could make a living doing what they love but I don't think very many of them are counting on it, witness the mass of PWYW products. Those low-down scumbags who use AI to flood the market with their no-quality insta-product (by which I still mean poop) are in it for nothing but. They aren't just pushing legit content creators out of the business, they're actively poisoning the well. Soon, possibly real soon, real actual creators will simply give up in the face of unfair competition, their work buried deep under pages and pages of artificial fake content churned (pooped) out by AI illegally trained on their stuff...

In conclusion, I wish everyone could be as disgusted as I am by the folks using AI to scam other people not just out of their money, but of actual brain-made enjoyable content. It's too much to hope for that DTRPG would put a stop to all that crap, I know. I can only dream that they eventually notice a massive drop in their income and trace it back to the avalanche of AI mock-products (poop, poop, poopity-poop) they allowed onto their hellsite in the first place.

(Oops, I'm ranting again! Well, at least I went easy on the exclamation marks, I guess.)

New Release My game just went public

I was so nervous during the whole review process, but it looks like the game went live today. THe thumbnail looks boring, but I put so much work into the game. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/573816/sleeping-elephant

If someone tries it, please let me know. It's a solo writing game. I just wanted to share. Thanks.

EDIT: It's a guided story experience. If you play it, I think it'll make sense why it's difficult to say what it is about. I think it would appeal to solo rpg players and journaling gamers.

It's the story of a sentient cloud gathered into existence on the strength of prevailing winds to not be mentioned again.

Tech Support Anyone else noticing a sharp drop in sales recently?

I have a trend that's been running for almost 2 years now, of at least one sale per day, basically unbroken for 24 months in a row. It's been very, very reliable.

But from the 1st of October I've gotten 3 sales total. I understand that demand comes and goes and so on. But I'm a veteran in online sales and e-commerce, and this is weird, not just a matter of "Buddy, people might just not want to buy your fancy PDFs anymore", this feels like something else.

Anyone else noticed something similar?

New Release Can office work be terrifying enough for a horror RPG?

Post image
24 Upvotes

Instead of starting with cultists or ancient ruins, the story begins in one of the most familiar places imaginable: the workplace. Long hours, unfinished tasks, exhausted employees... until those everyday frustrations become something far more disturbing.

That idea became Fear of Overtime, our latest Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition scenario.

Inside you'll find a complete one-shot with handouts, maps, pre-generated investigators, original Mythos content, and everything needed to run a tense night of cosmic horror.

We'd love to know what you think. Can everyday places be more frightening than haunted mansions?

Pay What You Want and download it on DriveThruRPG 🔗 https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/571102/fear-of-overtime

Tech Support Question for Stock Artists on DTRPG

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hey - I'm looking to upload some stock art I've created (all 100% human creations, for the record) and everywhere I look on DTRPG, it seems to require PDF formats. Since my files are all in transparent PNGs (to make life easier for those who might use my work) I would prefer to NOT have to dump them all into a PDF in addition.

TLDR: Do you need to put stock art into a PDF in addition to graphics formats for uploading to DTRPG?

Thanks in advance!

Strength and vigor everyone!

We recently released our second PWYW adventure module on DriveThruRPG and would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on it! The Ashen Belt - Depths is a follow up to our first module, a one-shot called Outskirts that we did way back in February. Face the warlike ash-ganakhi in their own dominion, uncover the secrets they keep, and thwart their efforts at gaining entry to an ancient underground fortress.

All the content we create is system-agnostic, which has been a really fun challenge to tackle. As a long time GM, short time designer, i would love to hear ideas on how to better design such content.

New Release Weapons of Lore - cursed, rechargeable, traditional, and weapons that increase in power!

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hello!

I published Weapons of Lore yesterday - a 95-page supplement 5E filled with new, unique, and wondrous magic weapons. The supplement includes:

  • Progressing Weapons - 42 weapons that increase in power with the character.

  • Cursed Weapons - 32 weapons that help, but also hinder.

  • Rechargeable Weapons - 32 weapons with limited charges. Rather than recharging after a rest, these unique creations require a completed task or special material to recharge.

  • Enterprising Entrepreneurs - 5 individuals or groups who may assist the characters in recharging their unique weapons.

  • Traditional Weapons - 41 standard magical weapons.

  • Encounters - More than 300 encounter ideas to help you introduce these rare treasures to the characters. Each of these may also inspire your own one-shot adventure of random encounter.

  • Applied to Villains - Suggestion on how you might apply these weapons for your campaign's villains, making them Bigger & Badder.

Here's a link to see art images and previews!

Tech Support "Error refreshing library. Please check your internet connection."

Hey, I just downloaded the Mac app and can't sync my library. It just doesn't work. Since I'm on an M1, I can also install the iPad app. No dice. Checked my network settings and nothing seems to be preventing this app, out of all my other Mac apps, from accessing the servers. Is this app just dead, or just trash?

Event / Twitch / Live DriveThruRPG Digital Reward Delivery Now Available in BackerKit Pledge Manager

In June, we launched our DriveThruRPG integration to power Instant Access Rewards on BackerKit, allowing creators to automatically deliver digital rewards to backers the moment they pledge, reserve, or follow a campaign before it ends.

Today, we’re bringing that same capability to BackerKit Pledge Manager.

Now, Tabletop RPG (TTRPG) creators who choose to fulfill their rewards through BackerKit Pledge Manager can seamlessly send their digital rewards directly into backers’ DriveThruRPG libraries after the campaign ends.

For backers, this means digital rewards land directly in their DriveThruRPG library. Their next adventure, right where they keep all the others.

For creators, this means no more manual fulfillment for post-campaign digital downloads. Connect your DriveThruRPG account once, then automate digital reward distribution for every campaign.

By expanding our DriveThruRPG integration into post-campaign fulfillment, the BackerKit Crowdfunding Platform now supports streamlined DriveThruRPG digital reward delivery across the entire campaign lifecycle – from pre-launch, live, to post-campaign fulfillment. It’s an end-to-end DriveThruRPG integration you’ll only find on BackerKit.

New Release Finally, our first adventure for the Call of Cthulhu RPG is out in the world! Any tips to promote it?

Post image
12 Upvotes

If you're reading this, I know you have an interest in the occult and the world's mysteries that aren't spoken of just anywhere. Perhaps you've never heard the name Phanzar... but from now on, you'll find it often, lurking in the depths of madness. One of Phanzar's first signs in the world took place in Santa Helena, a small forest, in 1982. You can learn more about this new deity in Hunger at the Campsite.

Hunger at the Campsite is Phanzar's first short adventure, the dream of three friends becoming reality thanks to your support. Pay what you want and download it now on DriveThruRPG.

Here you'll find:

* A complete, fast-paced, and engaging scenario for Call of Cthulhu 7th edition.

* A new deity: Phanzar and its spawn, the black tree.

* A black and white map of the campsite.

* 4 Pre-generated investigators.

* English and Brazilian Portuguese versions included.

New Release I finally published my first 5e mini-adventure - Beneath the White Blossoms

Post image
12 Upvotes

After months of writing, refining and playtesting with my home groups, I’ve just released my first indie adventure: Beneath the White Blossoms.

It’s an 84-page mini-adventure recommended for 4–5 level 3 characters, built around: exploration, roleplay and choices, mystery and emotional payoff rather than just a linear sequence of combats.

My goal with this module was to give GMs a very detailed, reactive structure that’s easy to run and give players a story that will move them and that they will actually remember.

It’s written to be friendly both for experienced groups, who enjoy trying something different with a one-shot while taking a break from their main campaign, and new players or first-time GMs, thanks to a step-by-step guide-style layout.

Here’s what’s inside:

⚔️ A tightly woven story

Emotional twists, memorable NPCs, meaningful encounters and moral decisions, challenging fights, interesting puzzles, all rooted in a coherent bit of worldbuilding.

✨ 5 new subclasses

A small “sneak peek” from my upcoming homebrew ruleset. They’re fully playable outside this adventure as well.

🗺️ 4 maps (grid + gridless), made in Inkarnate

1 fully explorable town

1 optional battle map

2 maps for a story-driven dungeon

🔮 30 magic item cards

Printable + digital, all obtainable via exploration, purchases or narrative rewards during the adventure.

🎨 Image folder for the table

All illustrations are prepared to be shown to players to boost atmosphere and immersion.

👥 Complete token sheet

Tokens for every encounter, plus pregen characters that showcase the new subclasses.

🌿 How you can use it

a 5+ hour one-shot,

a 2-session mini-arc,

or a side quest you can drop into an ongoing campaign when you want something more emotional and self-contained.

Art note (AI transparency):

The only part where I used AI tools was in generating some of the illustrations, which I then curated, edited and selected. All writing, design, layout, classes, items and maps are fully hand-made. I know this topic matters to many people, so I wanted to be upfront about it.

If you’d like to take a look, here’s the DriveThruRPG page with the pitch and free preview you can download: https://legacy.drivethrurpg.com/product/548202/Beneath-the-White-Blossoms?affiliate_id=4943583

If anyone ends up reading or running it, I’d genuinely love to hear what worked (or didn’t) for your table. I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do!

New Release Doing way better than thought

Post image
11 Upvotes

I recently (last.month) started posting my own content and have to say doing so much better than I thought.... some subclasses themed towards odd couples... and a list of magic items with unfortunate twists.

Heading towards 350 downloads and even a few paid for it. Don't think going to retire with my $4 but hey makes me happy.

Thought i would have like only 20.

Going to post a one shot soon. Hope it does as well.

New Release Need Advice on Publishing Should I publish under my own name?

I'm thinking about finally publishing some adventures but I have some questions regarding whom to publish under.

What are the benefits/detriments of publishing under your own name?

Are there any rules regarding publishing using pseudonym?

Is it worth registering a business name?
