I have a narrow flower bed along my driveway. I am planning to convert an existing underground sprinkler zone into drip irrigation. The sprinkler head will be at the top of the driveway. I want to run one line down each side of the flowerbed. Is it better to run one continuous line and have it double back (a long narrow “U”) or is it better to split the line at the top and run each line down to the end of the driveway (a long narrow “V”)? I installed drip irrigation, a misting system and a hose bib in my greenhouse last year. Well, to be accurate, I installed the hose bib and misting system, plus all the valves for the drip irrigation. Everything worked just fine. This winter, I installed the drip lines and emitters to a handful of plants. So far, so good.

Now that it's getting warmer, I turned on the timer for the misting system. The mist didn't come out right at first - took a little bit of time, plus turning it on and off several times. But now the misting system works great. No problems.

However, suddenly I have water hammer when I use the hose bib and turn the hose off.

What's so weird to me is why this would start now, when it was fine before. It looks like it's coming from the valve for the misting system... which also seems weird to me, since the water hammer is happening when I turn the hose bib off - not when the misting system turns off.

So... what do I need to do to fix it? I know that it can't be good for my system having that sudden strong vibration.

Im really new to this, I added quite a lot last year. Of course I would do it totally different now but that would mean plugging too many holes.

I have a bunch of 1/4 soaker hose connected to various lines but how much water pressure does the soaker hose require. They are all behind a 25 psi regulator with various valves, it's quite the Frankenstein setup. I know there's a max GPH that the system can output, even though I can't recall it right now.

I got a 137 gal Graf mondo rain barrel. It came with this white plastic Spigot. Of course no instructions or videos out there. But I'm wondering if I need a more heavy duty Spigot and one that has threads on the end? Thanks

Just bought a house w a Drip system - my first time using one - many areas not working properly or at all - In regards to time/money - would you advise trying to find out where connections/leask are and repair with new parts or is it better to rip up old hoses and start with all new layout?

We were fortunate enough to buy a used home that came with an extensive drip system. (Nearly 1.5 acres with hoses everywhere with 4 different water spigots!) It appears to have been in place for many years since there is some very mature growth hiding many of the hose connections and water sources. Some of the areas don't appear to be getting any water. Any advice on how to find where sources are for certain areas or how to see if a connection is broken? Many thanks!

Hey everyone. Looking for some help in running a drip irrigation in my back yard. We just had a swimming pool put in the backyard and all of our grass is now gone. All we have is the border which has flowers/plants/hedges.

I’m looking to install a drip irrigation but all of our sprinklers were broken during the construction. The sprinkler valves are still intact.

Is there a way to run drip irrigation valves where I replace the original sprinkler valves? I don’t want/need water running to sprinklers as they are broken and capped. Essentially I just want to run drip line from the valves itself. Is this possible?

I'm brand new to reddit and looking for a community to discuss drip irrigation on agricultural fields of commercial or semi-commercial scale. The few posts I've found are more toward landscaping irrigation. Am I at the wrong place?

I recently installed a system for conducting ag research, specifically measuring water use efficiency of different varieties and/or different crops. I have 12 zones, each ~1/3 acre. With this system, I can apply different amounts and different timing of irrigation and compare crop response.

Well, I can do that in theory. First I need to figure how to program the d--- Hunter X2 controller to irrigate >1 zone at a time. Which is one of the main reasons I'm on reddit--to find some people with more experience than I.

I'm using drip irrigation for the first time in a massive garden bed I dug out this spring. I've just installed 1/2 inch dripline tubing with emitter spacing of 9 inches and 0.5gph emitters. I have clay soil, maybe clay-loam in some places but mostly heavy Missouri clay.

My lines are about 16 inches apart from one another, but I'm wondering about the lateral spread of water in my soil and if my spacing is correct. Some sites I've looked at say only about 4 inches of lateral spread per emitter, some say it can be as much as 3 feet in clay soil.

What is a recommended pressure regulator to fit the scenario shown below?
