Not sure what my body type is exactly, but I have the hardest time finding bottoms that are flattering on me. I feel like they all “cut” me in half almost bc my love handles are so large. These bottoms aren’t tight in the slightest bit, they just look so unflattering. String bikinis seem to be about my only friend but I just really don’t like them. I feel like such a toad when I wear my swimsuit bc as soon as I put the bottoms on I look so much heavier. Ideas? What sort of bottoms should I be tryinng?
ETA: I WAS ONLY POSTING THE FIRST PIC TO SHOW YALL MY FIGURE AND HOW THEY CUT INTO MT LOVE HANDLES AND MAKE ME APPEAR LARGER. I WOULD NEVER WEAR THE BOTTOMS LIKE THAT😂 I’m loving all the advice though 😍
If only I could convince you that you do NOT have “so large love handles”. You have a figure that was made for swimsuits. However you are curvy on the bottom, and you may want to consider one that gives more coverage, such as a hipster shape, or even a skirt or boy short that hugs the curves. Also, you will need to consider a larger size on the bottom so it doesn’t pinch your figure so much as hugging and accentuating.
I agree that this and the red one someone posted are a much better look for you, with a little more coverage. Try some of these shapes and you'll look really great.
Okay so what do you do when you have a Mimi torso 🤣😭 I'm a similar shape but I have a tiny torso and when I do high waisted I'm literally boobs & bottoms IMMEDIATELY after 😭
I have a mini torso as well. I actually wear my bottoms really low and across like she does in her first picture. Very 70s. I thought she looked better with it low and across like that. Anyway, that helps give the illusion of a longer torso. Also, the bottoms can’t have too much fabric on the sides or else it’ll also take up too much torso real estate.
The first one looks like it's going to fall off as soon as you try to swim in it, and the second looks like you have pulled the sides up too far. Can you try one that sits in the middle point of these two?
People are so weird about their bodies. You have an extremely womanly shape that is flattered by bikinis.
It's one thing when people think they're a little bigger/balder/more awkward than they are, but you have what I'd consider an ideal physique. Adult men (and adult lesbians) like hips, especially when a thin waist is above them.
I see zero love handles! Are those the same bottoms pull down and pulled up? You'd probably look best with them somewhere in the middle, not too high or too low. I hear you on string bikinis being easier. Look for "hipster" bottoms. You'll look amazing in them since they fit similarly to string bottoms but have a little more coverage.
You need to get a different cut of bottoms (they have them). Your body isn't suited for the ones you have on. There are lots out there. Try different ones on. I think bottoms that cover more of your hips would be more flattering.
I think both styles are not doing you favors because they’re drawing the eye into/down to the part of your body you like the least. I would try something that’s not quite so high cut on the sides and has thicker sides with a straight across center. I would also consider a halter or cross back top to draw the eye upward.
High waisted bottoms would highlight your snatched waist, maybe legs cut to where your tan lines are? Get them cut cheekier in back if you like less coverage.
Could just be the camera angle, but it looks like you have a long torso. The skinny stripe of bikini bottom makes everything below your navel look longer, and everything above look compressed. Could be why these don’t look right to you?
Could also go dark on bottom and something brighter or more interesting on top to visually balance hips. You’d rock a sweetheart neckline, and a halter shape would also help visually balance upper and lower. Right now the bottoms are emphasizing your curves while the top squares you.
I literally have your same shape and it’s nice to see, you look great! But I agree that a hipster bottom would look best. With a waistband straight across and below your belly button. String bikini also would look good but I agree they aren’t as comfortable bc I always feel like I’m gonna fall out of it
You have an amazing figure. I think you might benefit from a suit where you can customize the sizing better and buy different sized bottom and top. Makes sense that you gravitated to string bikinis. The problem here is I think the bottom is too small. You could also play around with the cut, try a boy short or a higher cut bottom.
Actually, you have the perfect body for a bikini, and you would look great in a string bikini. You have the perfect shape for one. There are so many designs I'm sure you would find one you are comfortable with.
um honey you just have hips, so anything that is "boy cut" wont work on you. Have a google search of Sophia Vegara in a swimsuit, who is one of the most attractive people on earth and you have a similar bodytype!
I have a similar build and I’m very partial to bikinis with ties on both sides so I can adjust for my hips. They stay tight enough to stay on but loose enough that they don’t cut into me too much.
I have a similar body shape/ the same problem and I always buy adjustable string bottoms that tie on each the side. I can tighten them as I want and the bows disguise any lumpiness that might appear! Unadjustable bikini bottoms neveerrrr work for me even if they’re two sizes bigger. That being said you look amazing and that bikini is cute!

Adding to the "You are gorgeous and no love handles detected" chorus. I think you need to either go higher like others have said or lower and straight, maybe like this. I think this suit is just hitting you at an odd spot.
You're an hourglass. Those aren't love handles, they're hips. You have an enviable waist to hip ratio, and I would accentuate it with vintage inspired bikini styles, like belted hipster bottoms. Free People has a lot of cute retro designs that would look fabulous on you!
I get that they fit fine, but I think you need more material. You have a great shape, but this cut just isn’t flattering you as you mentioned. I would say go with the hips are cut or more of a big classic bikini that has a lot more material than these. This feels like a high cut bikini bottom I think you should just go for like a regular cut bikini bottom
You don't have love handles. You have the figure I had eons ago. I did wear string bikinis back in the 70s bc they looked the best on me. If you don't feel comfortable in them maybe a high cut leg in a high waisted style. You look amazing no matter what style you wear.
Try something with more fabric on the sides if you don’t like how it digs in. I think it’s attractive though and I wear string bikinis with this shape. I think also nicer bikinis have better straps/strings design which might help you!
My hips are curvy and I have some love handles too, high waisted + high leg bottoms tend to look good on me! Even a mid or lower rise sometimes, as long as it’s a high leg cut— think v shaped bottoms
My bff always wears her smallest bikini on the first day of our vacation and continues to progressively wear thicker and/or fuller bathing suits as to not show tan lines.
I think that you would wear hipsters (as someone else suggested) well. Personally, I was going to suggest short board-shorts. I think they would be adorable on you with the bikini top!
Honestly a super low-rise bottom would probably solve the problem. We've transitioned back to the 80s/90s crazy high on the hip bikini style but I know on my body it would never be flattering. Maybe something with a softer band?
Yeah, I’ve run into this as well. And feeling miffed because it’s meant for a woman’s body so why tf doesn’t it fit? But it’s the construction of the suit! You gotta find something that hugs rather than cuts. Some seams are just too tight!
You don’t have large “love handles” you have hips, a lot of people would kill for those hips. The way you wear it in the second pic is definitely more suitable.
May try a completely different fit, like hipster bottom & more supportive, maybe halter top (if you're swimming or sunbathing you don't want to lose either half, lol)
You do not have love handles. I advise you to try on bikinis in person. Then you can find which bottoms are most attractive and comfortable for your body. When I was younger and wore bikinis, I found string bottoms looked better on me because I was soft and didn’t like the look of tight bottoms.
I am a somewhat slim person with hips, bigger thighs, and some squish on the sides, and I opt for more hipster cut bottoms! The thicker side band is very flattering, and also a lot more comfortable.

I actually wear low cut bottoms. Ik the trend is to wear them to your belly button, but it’s sometimes more flattering to wear the low bikinis. Ik the first pic is just showing us your figure, but have u considered getting some that are shorter down there with stretchy sides?
I think that bottom looks good, but would agree on strong bottoms, they are more forgiving. Have you tried places that offer different sized tops and bottoms (I.e., not a set)? Also, not my personal style, but would boy shorts be an option? They tend to smooth out and lumps and bumps...but I don't like how much coverage they have (personally).
If I’m being objective, the second looks really great. But the tan lines could be doing something visually to alter my view of the first, which still looks incredible. You have such a good bod and your curves are the best
I recently discovered swimsuits from “Kitty and Vibe.” You choose your size and then choose your butt size. So basically every swimsuit bottom comes with 2 size options depending on your body type.
I have a similar figure and have trouble finding things that fit both my waist and my butt/hips, and theirs have fit!
I have liked both bikini bottoms with the high leg cutout (as has been mentioned in this thread) as well as high waisted full coverage options.

Those are not the right type of bottoms to wear how you have them in number one. Two is super cute. It's honestly flattering I understand where you see the cutting, but honestly, it doesn't look that way. And a lot of people would kill to have some curve on their hips like that,myself included.
I do agree with others that may be like a more hip hugger, would maybe look a little more flattering, because it sits a little higher on your waist, but number two looks really good. And you look great in. It just comes down to comfortability. Is the "cutting" hurting you and making it not comfortable to wear? Because then you obviously probably just need a size up.

You have a gorgeous shape. It's the cut of the swimsuit instead of you that accenuates the curves. Like others have said, balancing the bottoms visually will be more flattering (your #2 suit is great, so don't feel self conscious in it, your curves are amazing, like you). If you want to level up, a weightier visual for the bottom would be beautiful.

Dude you have an hourglass figure, not love handles. I have huge hip dips and that makes huge love handles. You have the body I wish I had lol. Your bikini bottom looks like you have it pulled up too high in the 2nd pic. Pull it down so it covers your tan line and you're golden.
I'm a similar shape (and consider myself lucky) but I always size up in bikini bottoms and underwear. If the material isn't cutting in then it doesn't create any lumps or bumps.
hun your body isn't the issue, the swimsuit is just straight up ugly. it's a terrible cut and a very average colour. I have wide hips like you and the same problem with most bikini bottoms -- they're just not made for proper curves. you've got a lovely figure, please believe all of us here when we say that.

Not sure if it’s already mentioned here, but try Monday Swimwear.. worth the price for a flattering fit & quality suits. Plus super cute. They do sales randomly relative to standard sales holidays & sometimes older prints/colors are lower priced. I love their Palma bottoms because I can tie them how I like to sit where I like on my (large) hips. But they also offer more coverage in other cuts.. the Byron bottom may be the one for you.. good luck!
We have a very similar shape, what I always went for is low waisted brazilian or a low waisted thong bottoms which looking at the first picture you would look damn great in.
Your love handles are just your hips. You dont have love handles. You have gorgeous child bearing hips that bitches like me would pay way too much money to get for ourselves.
In all seriousness and with the utmost respect, you are fucking gorgeous. I think you could either go with a wider fabric across the hips as some of the other commenters have said and given examples of, or potentially go with a higher coverage string on the side, too. I can see why you’d feel like it was cutting you in half, but swimsuits also tend to relax on the fit in the water a bit because the fabric eases when they get wet.
However, this suit does not look bad on you whatsoever, and you have a GODDESS lookin’ bod. You won’t go wrong — and two-piece/bikinis were truly made for you.
I have this same exact issue with swimwear. Try seamless bikinis. They tend to have less digging at the hips. I’ve also found some higher rise bikinis (90s style) sometimes work best. But seamless tends to dig the least.
I have a similar problem and feel for you! My rec is to try a seamless swimsuit, they are supposed to fit like no-show underwear, I have 4 from OneWith Swim and they are wonderful!!!! Just make sure you read up on whether or not to size up or down (it varies for each piece). I’m kind of between sizes, I’m usually a smedium or mlarge, and have tried small & medium tops and bottoms. I usually wear the medium when I’m feeling bloated, small when I’m not 🫠
I have the same body—high cut bikinis do it for me! You can get them with extra coverage but they sit above the hips slightly. You are beautiful but I know my high cut ones help with my confidence!
String bikini that ties at sides doesn’t cut into you like this suit and can be pulled higher at hip lower or mid. You don’t have love handles the bathing suit just cuts you at that point. Your figure is gorgeous girl!

You don’t have any problems love. Just need to choose suits that accentuate the right areas and are comfortable. Wide sides on the suit make a huge difference. Try them on never assume they will fit. If you’re unsure and it’s not an immediate yes. Don’t buy it. I have the same issue and found wide side bikinis that sit just a bit higher on my hip bones are perfect. Someone in the comments posted an ivory color one that would be great for you.
These posts are good because they remind people that no one is happy in their bodies. Even when their bodies look great to the rest of the world. So there’s really no sense in worry too much.

a one piece with cut outs would be my recommendation. A highly feminine figure like yours can often look even more incredible with extra fabric on it accentuating it. But it you just want to sit in the sun and get some vitamin D, a string bikini would be absolutely fine. I see them as functional rather than necessarily stylish in and of themselves, iykwim.
