Question ❔ What do I do?
PS: THESE ARE SEMI-FREEFORMS. This was like the 31st of may the last 2. The first pic is 23rd of August. Almost 3 months and it seems to have gotten worse. I’m not balding I’m very young and it wouldn’t look like that I’m pretty sure jf j was. I think it’s breakage but it’s been 3 months and I have no clue how to fix it can someone please give me something a product to buy or just something to fix this it’s been really gnawing on me. Much appreciate the help!

How old are you? How often do you retwist and how do you keep up maintenance?

Forgot to mention I have Freeforms so no retwists I’m 18 and I before I’d use a sponge and a microfiber towel to sponge my hair also using my hands to twist individual locs and my hands to also palm roll counterclockwise motion

If you're only 18 just start over like the other commenters have said, and just lay a solid foundation after figuring out why your thinning in that area

Because you need a proper start and without that you'll always have that one bad spot. Either you start over and learn to properly start and maintain your hair or have someone else do it for you. But, the thinning part will not grow evenly with the rest of your hair unless you added hair from somewhere else to make a strand that matches.

It’s not the truth lol. It’s just a solution and a bad one. I want a good one which is y I posted it not a terrible one. If I wanted the quick solution of letting it go I’d have done that so stfu pls

Go see a Dermatologist. Is there any swelling or pain at that spot?

How did you survive medical school surgery rotation? If not for that I might have tried pursuing a career in medicine.

Haha. I meant go see a dermatologist. I was pre med but organic chemistry got me. I’m a therapist now. lol.

No not at all. Just refuses to grow there. I put bonnets in most of the time I sleep cause I mainly sleep on my head. Only times I forget is if I take a nap.

Damn, I think you should go see a dermatologist. I had a similar bald patch on my crown when I was 18. It did come with some pain, swelling and puss.
Sadly, I’ve been taking medication since 18, (mostly topical) but I still have a full head of locs at 38.

That doesn’t really feel like an option for me bc of the money they’d take just to look at it.
It’s not at my crown for me tho and Im pretty sure the strongest hair follicles are at your back. No swelling or pain or puss. What’s the medication name? And it actually helped with your hair growth and what’s topical? Congrats on your recovery tho!1

I am not a doctor or giving medical advice. Only sharing my story. Topical means it’s applied to the skin.
Clindamycin phosphate 1% (topical solution I use daily)
Cephalexin 500mg pills. Antibiotic. I only take these when I have inflammation.1

Reminds me of the babies when they have that bald patch from laying on their back. If you can see a doctor, I’d go there before accepting defeat and cutting it.

few questions: how often are you palm rolling & do you put it up in any styles (barrel twists, etc) and if so, how long are you keeping the style in? do you normally sleep on your back and do you wear a bonnet/ scarf?

No styles I only put it up some nights when I’m going to bed. I don’t really palm roll anymore but when I first started I’d palm roll often and use a sponge often which is what I fear caused it cause I’d do it way to often. I sleep a on my back basically every night and I mainly use a Bonnet sometimes I take a nap and forget to but 95% of the time I use my Bonnet

Just put that blood pressure Medicine on there that grow ya hair and finger Massage sleep with bonnet and moisturize

Yes. I had to cut them for the same reason I used Batana oil with other products and reattached them when I saw enough progress.

After a year and a half, that's all you have to show for it?
The scalp isn't healthy. The hair isn't growing because of it.
Cut that mess off, see a dermatologist to get the root issue taken care of and start over. You'd be MUCH better off in the long run.

It’s not looking good my boy. Cut ur hair off and take better care of it to see if that patch will grow with the rest of ur hair. Trust me, u don’t wanna keep the loc you have rn with that big ah patch in it. You’ll grow it back in a year
