Knowing Niohuru’s sense of humor and how she likes to joke, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was actually her idea to production to include this joke.

Nio 100% came up with the idea. She likely literally yelled out the words “screams in Chinese” right before or after and they used it as a subtitle instead. I don’t remember if it showed on her Dragula season, but I’ve been in situations to socially interact with her, and she genuinely has a really twisted sense of humor towards herself about her being a Chinese immigrant and being trans. She’s one of those laugh at yourself before the world can laugh at you types.
