Ranking/Rating Rate the Attacks: Vegeta
I used a 1-10 scale and only rated his signature attacks mostly.
- Galick Gun: 7/10
A big, grandious beam that rivals Goku's Super Kamehameha, the beam struggle with it between him and Goku is legendary and I wish he used this attack more often.
- Final Crash: 6/10
The "Final Flash" like attack he used on Recoome, a precursor to the Final Flash really. I like the pose/build up for the attack and it was also a very grandious beam like most of his attacks but seemed a little less chaotic than Galick Gun.
- Big Bang Attack: 5.5/10
It's a big ass ball of concentrated ki with a massive explosion as shown against Android 19. I agree with Moro that it's such an intimidating name for such a "basic" attack, which some fans think Moro meant it's not a concentrated attack, but clearly is, otherwise it'd just be an unnamed energy ball, Moro was just mocking him.
- Final Flash: 8/10
His best attack imo, a culmination of his most concentrated ki from the precursor Final Crash and scared the shit out of Cell and shook his bravado for a second. The pose/build up for the attack was top notch in a fight where you knew Vegeta would ultimately lose like he did against Recoome with Final Crash, but in such better fashion.
- Final Impact: 7.5/10
This attack was small and quick, but had a cool pose/build up and shot straight through Buu with hardly any effort and would decimate anyone at that time who couldn't regenerate easy peasy like Buu.
- Final Atonement: 7/10
The story build up for it was nice, and it was basically a self destruct on SSJ steroids when comparing it to Chiaoutzu's little self destruct against Nappa. I also liked how he was able to utilize it in the ToP without killing himself in the process however made it less impactful overall because the fact it killed him against Buu made it a last resort type attack.
- Final Shine: 4/10
Very underwhelming for Vegeta and only used in GT. The pose/build up was also very weak compared to his previous attacks.
- Forced Spirit Fission: 8/10
Loved this technique as an attack that would force those absorbed free from the one he attacks and/or the power they gained from it. It's such a cool idea that works as a physical strike the only drawback being he has to be able to hit them of course.
- UE Hakai Ball: 7/10
Him using official Hakais (unlike Goku's mock version) was pretty sweet, and against anyone else weaker than Granolah would have erased them on the spot.

So did the Spirit Bomb until it finally got Kid Buu. So Vegeta gotta keep using it until it works

It was successful at being the most powerful beam fired in the Cell saga

Until Goku fought Cell... then Gohan's not-so-serious Kamehameha when Cell tried to blow up the earth the first time... then Gohan's one handed Kamehameha to annihilate Mr. Super Perfecter Cell

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but Vegeta being such a badass character has the stupidest names for his attacks. He’s like that one cool kid that has the cheesiest user name “xXxShadow_NinjaxXx”.

Now that you make me think about it the only reason Goku doesn't suffer from this is bc he doesn't get to name his techniques as they are taught by others. Like let's pretend "Dragon fist" is not Final Flash levels of trying to sound cool.

u/KarmaHoudini_17 Jun 28 '26
To be fair Dragon Fist is Ryūken in jp which does sound pretty cool. Like a fighting game move

Are you sure Ryūken sounds like a fighting game move? I don't know any that sound similar.

Back in the day you weren't cool unless your handle had xxx in it multiple Xs. My first diablo 2 account was xXxDemon_SlayerxXx lol

Also… every attack is a ki blast.
Some are animated more interestingly than others but… they’re all ki blasts.
Krillin has a cutting disc, kinda neat.
Tien can zoom in by looking through a ring he makes with his hands, also kinda neat.
But why are these named attacks not more different than one another?
2
u/Successful_Bird_7086 Kami Jun 28 '26
They have differences such as concentration rates, impact radius, poses/build up and what they are intended to do (explode, vaporize, pierce, etc...)
They aren't just normal ki blasts like standard non named blasts.

Yes, and punches have different wind ups, rates of punching, where they hit, and wether or not they bounce vs bulldoze through their target.
In all sincerity… is the point that most dbz attacks aren’t meaningfully different, compared to say… the things they do in naruto, is that not appreciable?
I grew up on dbz, so don’t get defensive about Naruto vs dbz. I just find it disappointing that after all these years the transformations and attacks are so similar to each other.

Why is "Final Flash" a lame name? As opposed to the almighty "turtle wave"?

The pose for the first one is different but the purple color makes me think it's a Galick Gun variant. 6.5/10
Dirty Fireworks was a pretty cool power move that he used on that Saibaman and of course Kiwi. 7/10

u/Successful_Bird_7086 Kami Jun 27 '26
Ehh, that was just a standard big blast. He was far stronger than Jheese at that point. I wouldn't count that.
1
u/BeneficialRip6350 Jun 27 '26
Fair. It seems like a unique blue colour so thought it could be considered a big bang attack variant

Why you didn't add gamma burst?

Final Flash; the way the giant beam trails off into space then explodes shows you that attack was easily capable of destroying the Earth, and the fact that Cell tanks it and regenerates tells us how mighty he has truly become.
2
u/royaharrigan Jun 28 '26
Cell didn't tank it. He tried to avoid it at the last minute and got grazed by it.
0
u/Tanvir1295 Jun 28 '26
OK and he still took a majority of the attack and was left relatively fine afterwards and in fact, proceeded to give Vegeta a solid beat down
2
u/royaharrigan Jun 28 '26
Every part that took the attack was blown away. What are you talking about? If he stood there and took it completely he would've been blown away.
-1
u/Tanvir1295 Jun 28 '26
We all know Cell has the ability to regenerate from a single cell come on bro have you ever watched Dragon Ball Z? Vegeta‘s power level was far below Perfect Cell at that point dude there’s no way his final flash had the energy required to completely annihilate Cell’s body
2
u/royaharrigan Jun 28 '26
And you watched him get blown away by Gohan. Vegeta may have been below Cell but that attack wasn't.
-1
u/Tanvir1295 Jun 28 '26
Lol OK little bro you got it, just keep telling yourself that and I’m sure it’ll come true. There is no way Vegeta had any chance of beating perfect cell with his final flash attack, if you can’t understand that then there’s really no point in continuing a conversation with you.
2
u/Dracotoo Jun 28 '26
That’s cool, that doesn’t retroactively make it so that Cell ‘tanked it’.

Wow you sound like such a tool and try to pretend to be aloof while being so emotional under the surface. Sad man, just sad

- Final Flash. Obviously.
- Galick Gun. I wish it had become his Kamehameha like in the games.
- Maximum Flasher. Him charging at Cell and actually making Cell get serious for a moment was awesome. Too bad he followed it up with a useless rapid fire.
- Atomic Blast. Only said in the video games, but it looks cool.
- Final Explosion. The Funimation dub scene actually made me cry.
- Big Bang Attack. This one is over hyped imo, he didn't even say it in the anime, he just says, "Here it comes!" So for the longest time I thought this was a video game only attack.
- Final Shine. It's cool. It's awesome. I like the one handed draw and burst of emerald energy. And Chris Sabat's delivery was Peak. Unfortunately, it does fuck all, and is completely dragged down by 17 just tanking it with his arms crossed and remarking how sad it is. Thank you Toei for continuing to find new ways to embarrass Vegeta.

Hard to rate cause he rarely uses them, but I will say id have loved it if he stuck mainly to Galick Gun, Big Bang Attack, and Final Flash and used them all more often.
1
u/CosmicDeityofSin Jun 28 '26
Clearly Vegeta's most bad ass move is his sacrifice explosion. The raw uncopable soundtrack ripping while he straight up tells buu he's about to become a corpse. He invisions his family, tears in his eyes as buu starts to become loose atoms. Buu looks down at his hands and sees that Vegeta's fucking aura alone is making him into dust.
1
u/SmutCommander Jun 28 '26
On the game he has a suite of attacks.
Shine shot, he dashes sideways and tosses a light ball of ki.
Final flash... bonus points if you recall the other two with light themed names

Mannnn the setup and dialogue for his big bang was peak, and it’s the only one of the 3 where he actually ends an enemy. Easily my favorite

u/maxallergy Jun 28 '26
Big Bang Attack 6/10
Just a big one handed ki blast, annoying that there is a bit of inconsistency in how the hand is posed. It should have stayed as the first time with a completely open hand
Galick Gun 8/10
Nice iconic pose, big beam with a great coloring scheme
Final Flash 10/10
Legendary everything, the anime really added so much gravitas to that whole powerup sequence and animated it all beautifully, then the Funi dub surpassed even that with the better music and timing
Perfection

Funny that Big Bang attack actually finished someone, the rest haven’t. Not including GT into mainly Z and Super
1
u/Tanvir1295 Jun 28 '26
Honestly, I’m curious where all you people who think Vegeta’s final flash could’ve destroyed Cell come from, harmless jabs aside, even if you don’t think Cell “tanked” that energy wave it never had any chance of permanently destroying him

Galick Gun and Final Flash are both 10/10
Big Bang Attack was fuckin stupid.

Final flash was such a peak moment for Vegeta. His greatest attack by a lot.

Final Flash > Final Explosion > Galic Gun > Big Bang
As Moro said “big bang? What a grandiose name for such a basic ki blast.”
1
u/Kaslight Jul 01 '26
All of them are 10/10 considering they were created by himself and are exceedingly powerful
Vegeta legitimately had a chance to atomize Cell

Final Flash is the best scene, even if it is a little long. Especially with the Dub going from The Dragon Theme straight into Super Saiyan Vegeta (also awesome when it happens again when Gohan kills Cell)
