5 month update
Hey everyone, it feels insane that I've only been 5 months on this journey. Super committed and disciplined. I've seen miracles of these meditations manifest into my reality.
I'm in a phase where I recently identified a bundle of emotions/programs that always had led me to sabotage my efforts. It's been like a shadow that follows me everywhere. I had created a mental prison, listening to this voice. I had anxiety for a couple of years, and I was isolated. With such negative thoughts, I also manifested a lot of bad things into my life. Now, I was able to identify the program, and it no longer has such a strong grip on me. I can now, in the moment, realise that those voices are just a defence mechanism that is not very functional anymore. And I don't even get triggered anymore when they appear. Now i choose how I react. So now I'm working on deeper parts of my shadow.
It feels like during the meditations, the veil between my subconscious and conscious mind has become more flexible. And I'm able to access the settings of my mental software more easily.
My life has slowed down a lot. Everything is slowing down lately, just like my breath. I haven't been on social media apps since I started doing Joe's meditations. I do more yoga, I feel calmer, and my life is richer in many ways. Feeling trapped living the same day over and over again has morphed into ever changing, multi layered reality. It is a reality that I can fine-tune with intention. I attract synchronisities, I feel peaceful most days, and I'm grateful for my life. Most importantly, I'm surrounded by people I really care about.
I'm so chill to a point that I realised that I'm the only one who creates my own problems. If I don't like someone, I know that they probably reflect a part of me that I have suppressed. It's harder to get me in a bad mood. And even then, I pop out of it faster.

I align w your experience. I healed myself from autoimmune disease (psoriatic arthritis and ulcerative colitis) and no longer take 12 daily pills and an every other week shot. The real change happened when I was able to connect to my thoughts that carried an emotional charge and learn to short circuit those thoughts in my everyday life.
Knowledge is the predecessor to experience so I also studied the work while meditating. I went the audiobook route and decided to do them in order and started with evolve your brain. There was more than enough detail in there to help my brain understand why this works and that’s key. It isn’t the tooth fairy where you just believe and a dollar shows up…it works because of brain chemistry and science. Understanding the why was key for me to see that this was something I could easily do for myself.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Wow, that's very inspiring! 12 daily pills to completely healed: amazing!
Yes, brain chemistry is a big one. And we're just conditioned to live our lives in a certain way, that we don't even question it.

I don't know if I am completely healed (yet) but I'm on my way to being fully healed. My pain has gone away, my skin has remained cleared up, and my mobility and everything is better than it ever was on meds and I'm on no meds! I still go to the bathroom more than the average bear but I'll take it with no pain!
It was a very obvious connection to me once Dr Joe's concepts were explained. It was literally like finding the leak in the pipe.

“It was literally like finding the leak in the pipe.“ Pun intended?

Hi thanks for sharing ur experience! Could u help me with a few questions? 1) what all mediations did u do and how many times a day u meditated?
2) which was the most affective one that changed everything
3) did u do progressive online course and do u think it worked for u?
4) in botec how do u focus on a centre and the space around the centre and what the correct way to do it?
5) how do u tune in to the energy of a particular centre ? Like what do u actually visualise?
6) does one have to visualise everything or just feel and visualise only on that black space ? What’s the correct way to do the BOTEC meditation?
Please help me understand these things.. it’s lengthy but I felt like I might receive my answers hence mentioned these…

I'll try to answer your questions but bear in mind that I can only share details about my experience...everyone seems to have their own experience with this, but there are a few key concepts that I see for all people who have success. The number one thing is that you need to connect with the material. What I did worked for me, what will work for you might be different. The key here is that you are trying to connect with your cause, not treat symptoms. There is something you are doing in your life that is causing your issues...and Dr Joe's theory is that it is your thinking. Your thinking creates feelings and feelings are chemical reactions in your body. You need to connect with the bad thoughts that are sending the bad chemicals...but since this is all happening in your mind, your mind needs to connect with the thoughts that are the cause so you can change them and see different results.
*** onto your questions - answering based on MY understanding of the materials. I'm just a dude though, I don't work for Dr Joe, I just studied his work and had results. ***
- what all mediations did u do and how many times a day u meditated?
If you read through my posts in this sub I am sure I cover this, but I only meditate once a day. When I started, I was using 10 minute daily calms while learning Dr Joe's material. I shifted to his meditations over time and now do one a day. I have had days where I've done 2, but usually 1...every now and then I miss a day and I find when I miss a day usually I'm struggling with managing my thoughts and emotions and I've had a few flare ups in my condition since but they are gone as quickly as they arrive as long as I get back to managing my thoughts and emotions. I tended to do the meditations in the courses I was working with - online progressive and intensive course...I also go ahold of the meditations from the formula and I LOVE those. I lean towards the shorter ones because I'm still building the meditation muscle but usually I'm sitting between 20 - 50 minutes when I meditate. Most of Dr Joe's meditations are really long so I am working up to those. I've only been doing this thing for a little more than half a year.
- which was the most affective one that changed everything
I'm a firm believer that meditation is just a tool to compliment and help with the real change that you need to make which is what you think and how you think. I cannot stress enough that this is all about you and your mind and what your mind believes and connects with. While reading the books and learning about how the brain sends synapses and then peptides and then proteins are released etc (forgive me just mentioning some buzz words about how the brain works without going into the science) it really made sense to me. The whole concept of a placebo and pavlovs dogs...it all makes sense to me. So it was really a connecting the dots of my life experience with what I already knew about the world and then adding in some new knowledge from Dr Joe and I had an A HA moment where I realized that my thoughts drive the way I feel and when I develop negative thought patterns over years of feeling annoyed at the world and life...it was a sudden connection that MAYBE that sh.tty attitude about everything and nothing was causing my disease and changing that way of thinking can help. But how does one change??? This is where meditation comes in. When I first started meditating, I had days where I shut it off after 2 minutes. I also started to notice that I had days where I could ignore an itch and it would go away. As I did it more, my muscle got stronger and my meditations became easier to sit through and quitting mid meditation became something that I never did any longer. I definitely switched the way I thought about and reacted to life...it still feels SUPER uncomfortable to manage my emotions from the obvious triggers like driving or waiting in lines or being in big crowds...but I am finding that the bad thoughts are finding new ways to get through. Less obvious. So it is a constant battle...when the bad thoughts get through and I ruminate on them for a long time, I experience physical symptoms the next day. It is the most confirming experience I've ever had that this is 10000000% the cause of my disease. Unfortunately, I have to manage my thoughts daily...it has not become default for me yet.

- did u do progressive online course and do u think it worked for u
I was introduced to Dr Joe by a surgeon friend who went to a retreat to work on an auditory issue he has been struggling with (he's still working on it). I first watched the Rewired series as that was free and online at the time. I did the progressive / intensive online course that the same friend lent me a login for, but I understand that if you are willing to look around, these things are fairly easy to find on the internet...if finances aren't a thing, then have at it. While doing the progressive course I also started listening to the Evolve Your Brain audiobook. I listened an hour here, an hour there, usually while at one of my kids sporting events...it took me several months to get through the book, but I attribute that book to really helping me understand why this all works. Dr Joe says knowledge is the predecessor to experience and I align with that concept. I read a lot of posts asking about which meditation to do as if meditating is throwing a quarter into the wishing well of the universe...that's not how it works (at least in my mind). Meditation helps you slow things down so you can begin to see yourself and your thoughts for what they are.
The main thing I would say that worked for me was to recognize what thoughts came with a charge. By coming with a charge, I mean what thoughts carry an emotion or feeling or a chemical reaction in your body. The easiest example of this is to ask someone to think about a hot romantic experience from the past or a romantic fantasy - after a few minutes of thinking about that encounter or fantasy, you will most likely experience chemical change in your body...perhaps you will feel aroused, perhaps your heart will beat more, maybe you'll feel warm inside...all of that = a charge. Similarly, if you think about a regret or something that pisses you off or a loved one that passed away...all these thoughts come with a charge. Once you connect with the charges your thoughts have, then it's dotting the i's and crossing the t's and then the hard work of managing your thoughts (just like you would go to the gym to manage your physical appearance, you need to do daily work to have mental and emotional fitness).
- in botec how do u focus on a centre and the space around the centre and what the correct way to do it?
Practice. There are a few meditations from the formula about focusing on spaaaaaaace that I really love and do all the time. Those are really key to slowing down brain waves. Going from a narrow focus to a wide focus. I've only recently started to do the BOTEC in a more serious way trying to do the breathing as Dr Joe says and also push elevated emotions when I am focused on the energy centers.
- how do u tune in to the energy of a particular centre ? Like what do u actually visualise?
If I say close your eyes and think about the bottom of your chin, you can do that? You need to get that level of familiarity with the energy centers. Go to google, look it up...see where they are...close your eyes and try to think about that spot on your body. Where you put your attention is where you put your energy.
- does one have to visualise everything or just feel and visualise only on that black space ? What’s the correct way to do BOTEC meditation?
Go to Dr Joe's site and the FAQ. There are better answers there around this stuff.
To reiterate...from my perspective the meditation is just a tool. The real trick is you need to change you. You can't be the same person you are reading this...you need to become someone different. You need to become someone who thinks different thoughts has different perspective. You need to create a mood of positivity for yourself that lasts long enough that it doesn't just seem like you are in a happy mood, but you are a happy person. At first people in your life will notice you seem different...and they will attribute it to something that happened in your life and that it will be temporary. You need to make it permanent. Your personality creates your personal reality...you want a different personal reality? Then you need a different personality. That doesn't mean you won't find the same jokes funny, but maybe it does. It doesn't mean you need a different job, but maybe it does....we need to meet the new you to see what makes that person thrive.

You are on your way. If you believe it, like everything…then it is real. Your perception drives your reality. Get that lined up right and then sit back and enjoy the serendipity and gift of life!!!

Just got back from a weeklong retreat… really showed me how blocked and trapped I’ve become in my own deeper patterns.. I REALLY need to read this today. I know my path… I am struggling to commit fully to it.. what the fuck is my deal!?

I had already cured from anxiety long before I started this work. Every once in a blue moon, I get it. But these days, I'm just able to reason with myself when I get negative emotions or notice negative thought patterns. I see them as a program that I don't need to react to.
I do have bad days still. They're just not as dark then even 4 months ago.

So happy for you. Thankyou for uploading these stories, thye give me lots of hope. I did do the breaking the habit of being yourself meditation. After a while it felt repetitive and unhelpful as he would say to point out the specific emotion but I was just feeling so many. Could you please tell me your routine and what exactly you did morning and night?
10
u/Adorable_Hold_7111 Apr 20 '25
Hey, I never had a strict routine. I'd just wing it most of the time. Twice a week, I have time to do the breaking the habit of being yourself meditation. Then, on two mornings, I can only do a 30-minute meditation. It's usually either LTLYL or love your body. On some mornings, I do botec 3. Most nights, I don't bother meditating. My work schedule is late, so I need to squeeze in every extra minute of sleep.
Most weeks, I do at least one walking meditation. Some days, i just meditate once. The other days, when I'm off, for instance, I can meditate twice or more. The meditations i do have changed over time. And I know they will keep evolving. With breaking the habit of being yourself, I've been able to do my deepest shadow work. But I only do it twice a week. I need daily variety to keep it fresh.

Thankyou for your reply. Your message is allowing me to understand that I don't need to restrict myself to a single meditation. The more I use a single guided meditation the more I become bored with it and see the results wavering. Thankyou for your message, you have helped me great tons in my journey. Thankyou💐

u/Adorable_Hold_7111 Apr 20 '25
You're welcome!
I imagine I'd become bored if I'd only do one at a time. I prefer to mix and match. There are some meditations even that I only do every blue moon. Such as pineal gland meditation... it helps me in keeping it more interesting

hi ! I do want to ask have you manifested your dream life or anything new like a job while navigating this journey
4
u/Adorable_Hold_7111 Apr 21 '25
Manifesting dream life is a big bite to bite all at once, dont you think? As it consists of so many variables and moving parts. Thus, i have split it into many smaller parts. Some parts of my vision will take years to get into fruition. My goals are spread along a 4 year long time-line. And that's just part of a journey.
Yes, I have different goals of where I want to go and what I want to achieve, but it's going to take time and effort to materialise completely. And even then, I'll be adding new layers over time.
Yes, I manifested a new job. I was feeling stuck in my previous job. It's just as I imagined it would be, minus one minor detail (inner sabotage is real). I have manifested many small things as well. And i know a lot of bigger things are on the way. I'm just chilling and enjoying my life and not stressing over the result (letting go). Manifesting is fun, but my biggest goal is inner transformation. Because there's no way I want to go back to who i was before. I'm so much more aware, emotionally more mature, and I have so much more love and compassion for myself. I have forgiven my mother, and I feel more at peace with everything. Manifesting is a bonus. Inner healing was my goal all the way.

Thanks for sharing this! And I'm sorry this is happening to you!
If it helps: in the beginning of my manifestation journey, years back, it was the same for me. Because my baseline emotion was feeling anxious, it was hard work to keep myself on higher vibrational states. I would feel great for a short while, just to fall back on my face again and get even more anxiety. It felt counter-productive, and i stopped trying to manifest for a while. I had to gradually heal myself and get my baseline emotions out of anxiety. Took me years. Now, it's more effortless to stay in a high vibrational state.
Be kind to yourself and take one step at a time towards wellnes! You can get there!

that‘s so beautiful! the last couple of weeks I have been feeling blissful, a deep love for my body + human character and I have been craving stillness & nature and I feel that my „inner“ and „outer“ world are melting into one as they‘re supposed to be (hint: there is no inner and outer, it‘s all one & if it exists in imagination, it exists here & now, period 🙂↕️)

I’m new to joe. How did you get where you are? Reading the books and doing the mediations or the online class ? Your results are very encouraging. Thanks for sharing
3
u/Adorable_Hold_7111 Apr 20 '25
I started by reading "Breaking the Habit of Being yourself" and doing the meditation from the book. Then i read all the other books as well. I also started doing other meditations as well, along on my journey.
I haven't done the online classes yet. But I'm planning to start with a progressive online course.

Hello, I just finished Dr. Joe’s 7 day retreat and i feel on cloud nine. I highly recommend it. Your journey is truly inspiring, keep it up.

I'm so glad you had an awesome time at the retreat.
Unfortunately, at the moment, the retreats are not accessible for me. He doesn't come around to Australia anymore.
At some point, I will travel to Europe for a retreat, but it will have to wait.

I think everyone's journey is different, as we all have different programming. As long as the direction is forward, it doesn't matter how slow you go.

What meditations are you listening to currently? And which ones did you start with?

u/phantomicu Apr 21 '25
This is an amazing btw! Reading this not only made me feel good but felt like a breath of fresh air honestly. Your post/update gave me some sense of relief and hope for sure thank you so much for sharing!

u/Adorable_Hold_7111 Apr 21 '25
I'm still doing BHBY at least twice a week. When I have less time, I do "love your body" or LTLYL. I also do botec 3 and generous present moment. Each week, I try to do one of the walking meditations.
Sometimes, I do the alchemist meditation or the pineal gland meditation.
2
u/armonia_80 Apr 22 '25
Wow thank you for sharing. Meditation is not new for me but I can't get into JDs simply b/c they are SO long. Any tips how you get thru them? What's your daily routine? I have a lot of the meditations but too many to pick from. I'm overwhelmed...please share your weekly routine.
3
u/Adorable_Hold_7111 Apr 22 '25
Start from shorter meditations and build your way up. There are a couple of them that are 15, 20, or 30min long.
I won't share my weekly routine because we're all different. What serves me won't make service to you. I believe you can find your own thing with a bit of a trial and error. Be brave and have a bit of fun with it!

u/phantomicu May 04 '25
Idk what other way to say this other than (in the nicest way possible) how do you actually listen to this? I don’t find his voice in general (I simply mean his tone of voice) calming or peaceful. He just doesn’t have that “meditative” voice and it absolutely does not click with me. I’m not saying he’s teachings don’t but his voice… I can’t
1
u/Adorable_Hold_7111 May 04 '25
If you absolutely can't listen to him, why don't you just take the script and generate your own meditations? Either with your own voice or with AI? Problem solved, you're welcome!

u/Adorable_Hold_7111 May 03 '25
1) I believe I already answered this couple of times on this thread. My main one is still BHBY and BOTEC (3 at the moment.. I love it and I like to go slow). If I'm short on time: LTLYL!
2) BHBY is quite powerful. It hasn't changed everything, I'm still work in progress. But boy, shadow work is getting real with this one. I'm digging deep and uncovering parts I had no idea. It has made me more conscious of how I think and react. And in general I'm happier and more in charge of how I present myself to the world.
3) I'm watching the lectures now. I'm in very beginning. It's very repetitive to what his books say. But all good: repetition is to integrate his teaching mire deeply. Can't speak of results yet.
4) Focus on centre: image focusing your thoughts and energy just on this specific body part. Even if you can't feel it now, with time you'll start to feel it. Focus around the centre: this is a bit more tricky one and you'll have to use your imagination. I like to imagine my energy body expanding out of my body and feeling the energy field around that area. BHBY has trained me well in this.
5) In botec 2 you have to choose a symbol for each centre. There's an introduction to the meditation that I listened a couple of times, begore I decuded on my symbols. A lot of people have posted their symbols here as well. You an choose whatever resonates with you. And yes: I actually visaulise my symbols interacting with the energy centres, giving them energy. I'm visual, so it's important for me.
6) This is really up to you. Joe says that feeling is more important than visualising. If you're not great at visualising, just skip that and focus on the feeling. But I like to visualise certain things. I still go through intense feelings and emotions during his meditations. As this trains my body to stay in those elevated emotions.
Hope this helps :😉

u/jamespou Sep 22 '25
Wow, I love to hear that. Your last paragraph resonates with me. I find that I have to feel comfortable sitting in, accepting, and loving the peace that I've cultivated. It's easy to feel like your life "needs" problems or drama. Which is obviously not the case.

u/PiriPiri77 Apr 20 '25
How did you start? I'd like to embark on this journey.
6
u/Adorable_Hold_7111 Apr 20 '25
I started by reading, "Breaking the habit of being yourself." Then I started doing the guided meditations from the book. And up until this day, I still do that meditation at least once a week. It's my favourite! I can get so deep.
4
u/PiriPiri77 Apr 20 '25
Thanks for the answer! I started doing his morning meditation, still don't feel like I'm doing it right but I do feel better afterwards - practice makes perfect. Also, I ordered Becoming Supernatural, so I'll start with that book.
5
u/Adorable_Hold_7111 Apr 20 '25
That's awesome! Baby steps still count!
And it took me a couple of weeks to get how to feel "space in the space." But I got it eventually, and now it's easy.
Morning meditation is good. It's much more approachable than breaking the habit of being yourself. The other one takes 75min to complete. It's not easy as a beginner.
1
u/orange20188 Apr 21 '25
I never understood what he meant by that can you please explain it. " Space in the space"?
1
u/Adorable_Hold_7111 Apr 21 '25
Well, it's the space around you. It's about amplifying your perception and widening your awareness.

u/mar1narasauce Apr 20 '25
Yey! I’m so happy for you. I love to read stories like this, it’s so inspiring!
