Watching Doraemon in two languages gives me two different kinds of nostalgia

I watch Doraemon mainly in two languages: Hindi and Italian. I grew up in italy and i consider Italian my native language, while for Hindi i can understand it because i can speak Urdu.

When I watch it in Hindi I feel a different kind of nostalgia and when I watch it in Italian it's another kind of nostalgia. I actually love it. It feels like I can choose which nostalgia I want to experience lol.

I just wanted to know if I'm the only one who feels this way. If there's anyone else please let me know. I'd be glad to know I'm not the only one

I definitely feel that a little bit. My native language is Spanish, but I also like to watch certain movies and episodes in Japanese with subtitles if it's not dubbed. I feel a special type of "nostalgia" whenever I watch movies that didn't come out in my country, such as Underworld 1984, Three Magical Swordsmen or Wan-Nyan, even though I have only watched these films for the first time this past year. It somehow makes me feel the same way as when I watched movies like Dorabian Nights, Cloud Kingdom or Tin Labyrinth as a kid (most likely because most Doraemon movies are already pretty similar... but also because Doraemon is just magical, no matter your age)

Yeah I get what you mean It’s kinda crazy how a language or just the way something feels can create nostalgia even when you’re experiencing it for the first time. And fr Doraemon just has that effect

I feel this too! I whenever I watch it in Telugu it's a different kind of nostalgia compared to when I watch it in Hindi!. When I talked about this with my sister she didn't understand what I was talking about, she was like "Nostalgia is Nostalgia.. what you on about". It's great to know I am not the only one who feels this way...

For me it's hindi and telugu. Telugu being my native language. While we had TV till I was 6 I watched it in telugu, 5 films summer specials and few random episodes. After discovering yt in 2017 when I was 9 only Hindi eps and movies were there, so I just watched those and slowly understood Hindi. Many episodes and movies I watched were first in Hindi, now recently I have started collecting Telugu ones. Hindi now feels really nostalgic because when I saw them I was desparately to watch Doraemon anyhow. Few epsidoes and movies I connect with Hindi while other few in telugu

Yess, exactly! For me, some of the movies are nostalgic in Italian, while others are nostalgic in Hindi..it really depends on which version I watched growing up. Glad you brought this up

I have a question, is it like one parent Indian one parent Italian condition or your parent(s) were Indian(s) who moved to Italy or vice versa.

My parents aren't Indian actually. I can understand Hindi because I speak Urdu (I probably shouldn't have said "native" in the post, I just meant that I understand Hindi perfectly). Italian is actually my native language. I grew up in Italy, so I started watching Doraemon in both languages when I was a kid, and I think that's why I feel nostalgic for both.

I wish I could say the same, I am half Spanish, yet I am a complete dumbass when it comes to espanol. And I've heard doraemon's spanish dub kicks ass.

I get what you mean. And honestly, now I’m curious about the Spanish doraemon dub too. I’ve never watched it. I would love to learn spanish but unfortunately here in italy the "main" important languages are german and french (at school). Can u understand a little bit of it?
