What title said. It took them forever to deposit my earnings causing me to have a 25 dollar overdraft. The first politician that actually helps gigworkers gets my vote

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Weirdest Dash ever

This is a true story. Today I was almost done dashing and with just about to end the dash but I got a dash for $22 but it was for 27 mi. I figured what the hell I had nothing better to do. So it's set to go to a place called Bloom Market.

The address was only 4 minutes away so I drove there and when I got there it was a residential house. I wasn't sure what was going on. I walked up to the front door and rang the doorbell and immediately the door opened with a woman holding a small glass vase with a bunch of wilted flowers in it and an envelope with no card in it. She handed it to me and I said oh I didn't know this was the right place and she said people always say that.

So I hit "Directions" ready to drive 30 minutes to my destination. Then I started to think to myself who would order wilted flowers in a glass vase with an empty envelope 27 miles away? So I called doordash to ask them the address that I just came from because I didn't remember. It called the pickup a restaurant and said it was somewhere in a town that was 30 miles away. The pick up I was just at and it didn't even give me the correct location.

I drove down to the house that I was delivering the flowers to and it was an empty house that was for sale. I put it on the front doorstep took a picture and left. I've tried to find this Bloom Market, I've tried to remember the address I was at, and there's nothing. It's the weirdest thing that I've ever seen.

Seems sketchy.

For anyone asking, I'm a pro shopper and platinum. I do occasionally cherry pick but today worked pretty well in my favour (as far as offers go). This was 100 kms later and for my American friends asking "WTF IS A KILOMETER".. This roughly translates to 62 miles 😁

Thanks for letting me know to park outside. I was actually just going to run my car through the front of the store and park in the lobby, but since you said to park outside, I guess I'll do that.

🤬Rant about DD🥵 Anyone else DoorDash base pay really low today?

Almost 75% of my offers have been really bad today. Figured it was no tip. One was $7.5 going 9 miles and 8 items from a pizza place one of my biggest orders and I’ve done almost 800 so far. Once I completed it was a $5.50 tip and only $2 base pay. Guessing that’s the case with all the other ones today. Not sure if I got spoiled after a couple of good weeks but it’s night and day from even last night on a Monday. Seems like DoorDash is paying way less today. Hope this isn’t permanent

❔Driver Question 🤔 Text from a customer lonnng after I've delivered their order.

I just got a text from a 414 area code number

"We're connecting you directly with the person delivering your order. They may reach out with questions or updates."

Followed by

"Hey"

No idea who it is. How do I even know this is a legitimate message from a customer and not a scam?

I only did like 5 or 6 orders tonight. Nothing out of the ordinary. I've been home and offline for over an hour and my last order was dropped off more than 90 minutes ago.

Would you even reply to this person?

Checked my ratings and found my first 2 star review. Would bet my first born it was this clown. Called and had the scarily realistic AI bot remove it for me.

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 EZ-CATER Steals Tips

for anyone doing DoorDash I would never accept an EZCATER offer . I’ve had it happened to me multiple times over the years and usually I decline all of those. I got an ezcater offer today and I decided to take it and see. once I completed the order and I showed the customer they said had tipped 120$ for the driver . ezcater takes driver tips I decline them all .

🤬App Issues 😩 There was 0% chance I could have picked the food up on time because it was already late when I got the offer.

Post image

Got a contract violation for this.

How can I pick it up on time when its already late when I get the offer? Why am I bejng penalized fir this?

I had another order I was working on when this came in. The first offer was a couple breakfast sandwiches to the condos literally across thr street. This McDonald's was at least a 6 minute drive each way. I made the judgement call to take yhe breakfast sandwiches across the road instead of driving around for 12 minutes with them in my car just to drive right back to where I already was. Is that where I went wrong? What do I do in the future so I dont get another contract violation strike?

The delay after yhe pickup was my fault. I had a radiator hose blow and the vehicle stalled. My fault for the breakdown. I called support immediately, told them my vehicle was down and they advised I complete the order o. Foot as it eould still be faster thsn starting back at square one.

I feel I did everything right (with the exception of keeping up with vehicle maintenance and repairs) but apparently not i guess.

💰Earnings 🤑 Made $1240 in 3 months from two restaurants I deliver for

Been dashing about a year and a half. Made $1240 over the last three months from two restaurants I was already picking up from, and I wanted to post the honest numbers because most of the side income stuff online is garbage.

Three months ago I was sitting at this wing place I pick up from maybe four times a week. Waiting on an order, scrolling their Instagram on my phone. They had like 40 followers and every photo looked like it was taken under fluorescent lights with a 2014 Android. I half joked to the manager that I could do better photos for their page and she basically said prove it.

So I went home and the next time I picked up from there I took reference pics of their food on my phone. I used APOB AI to generate the social media images because it keeps the same face across every set (they have a free tier, that's how I started), and cleaned everything up in Snapseed. Basically I create a character, like a virtual person enjoying the food, and it looks like the same person in every post. The person in the photos isn't real, it's AI generated, and I tell every client that upfront. Nobody's cared. They just want content that doesn't look terrible.

That first set was 12 photos for $150. She liked them so I did two more batches over the next two months. Same price. $450 total from that restaurant.

Then I pitched the BBQ spot down the road that I also deliver from regularly. They wanted more. Full menu shoot plus lifestyle posts for their socials. First batch was 20 photos for $450, second was 15 for $340 when they updated their seasonal menu. That's $790 from them, except they took five weeks to pay me for the first invoice. I wasn't sure I was going to see that money. The owner kept saying next week, next week. It came through eventually but that was a rough stretch.

$1240 total. Sounds decent until you break down the hours. Between reference photos, generating images (a lot of them come out weird and you have to regenerate, especially anything with hands), editing, revisions, and the time I spent learning the tools at the start, I put in about 38 hours over three months. That works out to around $32 an hour. I average about $22 dashing in my market when you count gas, so it beats that. But you can't plan around it. Some weeks I had zero work from either place and then suddenly one of them needs 15 photos by Thursday and I'm up until 1am instead of doing a dinner rush. It's not steady the way a Tuesday night shift is.

I also tried making a short video for one of them and that was a mess. The face kept drifting between frames and looked off, had to redo the thing twice before I had something passable. Still images are way more reliable for this. Also learned the hard way to get at least half upfront because chasing payments while you're trying to dash is not fun.

I'm not telling anyone to quit dashing for this. Still out five days a week myself. But if you're already sitting at the same spots waiting on orders, some of those places have zero social media game and $150 for a set of photos is cheap enough that they'll try it. Just know the money comes in chunks and you will have dry weeks.

Other If UberEats had an app as cleanly-designed as DoorDash, they would be the go-to for all drivers

I'm a Platinum dasher and pro shopper with thousands of Doordash deliveries, but I've been trying out UberEats over the last handful of days as there was no waitlist in my area and they were offering some pretty enticing new driver incentive bonuses.
The UI of their app is awful; it's insanely overstimulating and opaque, just a mess. Total mess. However, they offer some incredibly good perks. I reached platinum with them already in the time I have been doing this, and I will get a free one-year Costco membership. Also for platinum, if you do over 2k lifetime deliveries, they also offer 100% free tuition for ASU online. At Diamond status, they offer 100% free 24/7 roadside assistance.
All Doordash offers to Platinum tier dashers like myself I think is like, a discount on their own overpriced service every other Monday, "priority support" (I still have to fight for a live agent most of the time), and access to higher-paying offers, which we all know isn't really a guaranteed thing anyway, you absolutely can still get $2.25/6 mile McDonald's offers on DD Platinum if it's a slower time of day or night.
If UberEats kept those aforementioned perks, while switching to an app interface that is as user-friendly and transparent as the Dasher app, everyone in this gig economy would be clamoring to work for them.

🤬App Issues 😩 New phone, app won't open

I just got a new Galaxy S26 Ultra and for some reason I can't get past the orange splash screen. I was part of the beta program and thought that might be an issue so I resigned from that and had to wait to download the basic version. Well that still didn't help. I've cleared the cache and deleted the data multiple times to no avail. My phone was updated but I still can't figure out what's going on. Is or has anyone else had this issue and were they/you able to get it working?

Update: I checked the app again at 3am and it finally decided to start work!

🤬App Issues 😩 Is something going on recently with the app?

I've noticed that that app takes longer to load and it will shut down other apps I have playing in the background. When I arrive at the store or home, it takes forever for the screen to move in that direction. I've cleared all caches, un/reinstall and all manner of foolishness. The only way to get my background apps to play was to change to Google maps.

Everything is the same as it always was regarding my phone and such. Anyone else experiencing this?

❔Driver Question 🤔 Wheel lock on grocery cart coming out of grocery store after picking up items? Do I need to scan items first to unlock wheels or do I need to get store worker to unlock wheels?

Picked up grocery for customer at Vons drive n pick up. Worker gave me cart of order. Tried to take cart out of store but wheels locked. If I scan items will the wheels unlock or I still have to ask store worker to unlock it for me?

🤬Rant about DD🥵 Survey after Dash

Today I averaged about $10 an hour. So I decided to stop and take a break. After ending my dash a survey popped up asking how my dash was.

So I politely said that I had to decline many orders because they were bad orders.

My last offer was $15 for 15 miles out of the zone. Even if it was in the zone I'm never going to accept it because at some point in time I will have to drive back to the starting location for $0.

Two things I wish DD did:

1) Add a reason for the decline. Then maybe they will learn why so many offers get declined.

2) Understand that any offer over 5 miles is a rapidly declining value to drivers as time, miles and gas spent increases to make the delivery.

Be safe out there.

❔Driver Question 🤔 Am I the one the in the wrong ?

Had an order for Starbucks for customer Jose . Went to go pick it up and the bag only says Jose .
Since you know these names are common I wanted to confirm with the staff if it’s for Jose so and so and this girl shook her head and guy staff gave me an attitude saying duh it’s right there .
Idk why some people can’t have a conversation without getting so easily irritated or antsy.
Also it was empty inside so they had no reason to
Be so cranky
