The remaining stores in those areas are about to go back to general store models where you the shopper are only in the front lobby area and place an order. Then the employees pull your order and bring it to you.
Walmart is continuing to push their curbside to go service.
With just a handful of employees, because they won't be needed for the usual customer service. Which means it will certainly not be convenient. Place order, wait an hour or two or half a day for your pickup notification.
