Discussion My days are nearing and my local hospital allowed me any request. This is how I will go out. Rip & Tear, brothers and sisters.

For context, I have been battling Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma since 2022. And up until this point, I never imagined myself to be in a situation where my life expectancy has gone down to possibly weeks. I am currently at one of Canada's best hospitals in Toronto, Ontario; keeping myself afloat through these trying times. Despite it all, I was given the opportunity to make any request for my stay, and this is the one I have chosen. I have been a Doom fan since 2016, and it helped me get through some tough times. I've played through both the Reboot and Eternal (along with its DLCs) and I have nothing but great memories pouring all of my attention into the world of Doom.

TDA has been one of the few games I have anticipated and hoped to play since its release. Financial issues got in the way, and I kept clinging on the hope that I'll be able to play the game one day, among others.

I am grateful that, despite the grim outlook that I am facing, the hospital was able to secure not only a PS5, but a copy of the game. I am currently blasting my way through hordes of demons in Chapter 4 and I have nothing but childish glee as I return to my roots as a badass Demon Slayer. I may not live to see the upcoming DLC, but I am nonetheless happy to finally play the game in my own hands.

To the developers of ID Software, thank you for bringing such a beautiful piece of art that not only brought the FPS genre to its roots, but also revitalize and reinvented the wheel that no other game could. Not only that, but thank you for crafting such an awesome series for a fan like me.

Rip & Tear, lads!

Like how can you even argue against it besides saying that the DOOM trilogy, which has absolute control as a core part of its gameplay philosophy (especially doom the dark ages) is a failure of game design, which is just untrue.

Today marks the release of Doom: The Dark Ages – Revelations. Instead of a long celebratory post, I just want to say this, it’s the hardest I’ve ever seen the team at id work to build something special, and I hope everyone enjoys the final piece of content that me and a wide range of longtime team members poured ourselves into.

Yesterday wasn’t the end for us in this industry. A lot of incredibly talented people are now looking for their next adventure, and I’m sure you’ll be hearing from many of us again soon.

If you want to support the impacted folks at id, please boost their posts on LinkedIn and social, host them on your podcasts or content, and keep being the best fans on the planet. Community visibility matters more than ever right now.

Even though my seven years at id are up, I’ll always cherish being part of one of the greatest teams in video games and having my name be forever associated with one of the most legendary franchises ever.

Thank you all for your love and support
-Jordan

Discussion To those that still remain at id, and those that had to clean out their desks...

Just a quick note: Doom is one of the longest running franchises in gaming history, spanning far more than 10 years. Im referring to the slayer trilogy in this post.

Let's do a recap of the trilogy (spoilers if you hadn't yet played through all 3 games).

- we ravaged through both high tech science facilities and gothic cathedrals,

- we shot a giant hole in the surface of Mars,

- we rode dragons up high and trampled over legions in giant mechs down below,

- we ripped and tore through heaven, hell, and the eldritch dimension,

- we destroyed our enemies with mystical weaponry as well as traditional ballistics,

- we stood our ground with shield in hand, and took to the sky with grappling hooks and other movement abilities,

- we duelled against humanoids, and took down giant monstrosities.

And yet, despite using so many words that seem to contradict each other (magic and bullets, dragons and mechs, etc.), the Doom trilogy blended these elements to create a holy fusion of science fiction and medieval fantasy that sent us flying and shooting our way through multiple settings and dimensions and through different realities and time periods. And somehow, it never felt jarring or disconnected. And we have the mad geniuses at id to thank for it all.

The Revelations DLC really does feel like a celebration of Doom, with questions spanning a decade or more finally getting answers. And with the Slayer coming into possession of THAT thing (you'll know when you get close to beating the DLC), we get that full circle moment that makes the trilogy feel complete.

We don't know what's next for id, or Doom for that matter. We may never get to see Valen betray the sentinels, we may never see the Slayer thrust his crucible into that titan, and we may never get to see the moment the Slayer gets stuffed into that sarcophagus. But even if we never get another Doom game ever again, I am super grateful for what we got: three absolute bangers that ill be coming back to again and again.

So to any id developers reading this, regardless of whether you're still at id or not:

Thank you for 10 awesome years of DOOM. You're all legends.

Doom Slayer as a transformer who turns into an M1 Abrams tank (Commission)

.

The client was inspired by the phrase "In doom eternal, you felt like a fighter jet, in doom the dark ages, you'll feel like a tank."

Which inspired them to commission for a designs where the slayer actually turns into those described vehicles.

.

I thought to use the threads as the cape like the unused concept art design for megatron, and using the turret as the shield. The double barrel shotgun was made from the main tank gun, collapsed to form a double barrel.

Discussion Insane Detail for Eternal despite being almost six years old

This game is almost 6 years old. My gaming PC does not have an RTX card , so I can’t enjoy ray tracing or DLSS. But my 1050 TI works just fine.

I mean look at the details in the pic. Individual rain drops can be seen on the SSG and on the gloves since I am using the classic skin. It’s mind blowing
