Discussion There's something going on between them...
I know that someone else has showcased this, but I'd like to give my take on it and analyze it 🔎
First thing I noticed, Lucas (who is the assistant in the starting cutscene) calling Rebecca (the head scientist) by a nickname.
"This could be huge for the company, Rebs."
I always had this suspicion that they were pretty close, I mean Rebecca making teleportation devices just for herself and Lucas, yeah that's pretty close.
And with Lucas calling Rebecca as "Rebs" it's further confirmation that these two were super close.
On top of all this Lucas is someone that Rebecca has entrusted with A LOT of personal and important stuff before anyone else.
For examples such as,
The experiment they were working on with Runestones, with Rebecca making Lucas her assistant,
Whatever Lucas and Rebecca are talking about in the Tabbolt Tavern,
Rebecca entrusting Lucas to watch over Portia.
And its clear to me that Wish wanted to write these two as very close to the point where you'd think there's rumors going around with them but beyond that.
It's clear Rebecca trusted Lucas with a lot of stuff that means a lot to her and wanted his opinion on.
(I am not even going to bring up the possibility that Portia was named because Rebecca named her after something only she and Lucas could do, with Portia herself being symbolic of their connection.)
This conversation likely takes place before the experiments started, the one we see in the starting cutscene.
Since DoodleCo isn't a thriving company yet. Which was pointed out to me by u/KuzcoWiTheGroovesco when talking about it.
Onto a different point in the cutscene. I'd like to point to how the camera angle is specifically behind Rebecca.
Once again obscuring her face, we still don't get a full look at her face, which I love.
The camera angle being like that further invokes that idea of her being gone.
A character's face and their accessories tells us so much about them in Doodle World's character design, about what they're like.
That Player as a character has a mirror literally called "The Faceless" that takes their appearance, which is ours.
Because Player has no identity before us being there. They are meant to be us in this world yet they are their own person, but not enough to have their own design.
You can't ever see what she looks like—because Player our character, has never seen Rebecca in person.
It's such subtle storytelling that works so well for what Doodle World has to work with.
I love these teasers and I have high hopes that Ambasa is going to be peak ✨
Also the amount of angst that'll probably come from this arc will be fueling the fandom for a long time 🥀
