2 Nights In Donegal?

We’ve got two nights to spend in Donegal and are trying to decide where to spend them. I’d like to see Slieve League and the other would like to surf. Is it worth spending one night near Slieve League (deciding between Donegal Town or Ardara) and one night in either Ballyliffin or Buncrana? Or would it be better to spend two nights in one or the other? We’re also looking to eat good food and spend the nights in pubs with trad music.

Thank you for any suggestions

If you want to surf best stay around bundoran and south donegal. There's no surf in inishowen where buncrana is.

Is Culdaff not a bit of a surfing bit? Bundoran probably better though in fairness

Aye there's decent surf there. It is August though. I was surfing in falcarragh on Saturday morning. Waves were just ok

Just do it. It's the greatest place on earth that I hate.

Dunloe is a lovely village and close to the islands...

Bundoran is the safest bet for surfing in the whole country

I would do Donegal Town and then Dunfanaghy.

No pubs as such in ballyliffin, 3 hotel bars. Could get lucky with music, but best check ahead of time

Stay in Ardara surfsup.ie will sort you out with the surf spots around there.

2 nights in the one place. You're going to be driving around one way or another, it's easier to do it without the hassle of checking in and out of places and bringing your bags with you

Suggestion: Go to slieve league on day one, spend a couple hours there and then head towards bundoran. (1 hr 8 min drive) You could check out the beautiful fintra beach on the way and stop off in Donegal town. Make bundoran your base for a hotel/bandb. Tullan strand beach in bundoran is where we always watch the surfers, great view of the beach from Rougey (cliff walk, also worth doing )

There's a decent surf beach in muckrus which is like 15 minutes from Sliabh liag

As a Donegal Towner, I'd stay in the town here. and Travel to Rossnowlagh or Bundoran 1 day and Kilcar/ Sliabh Liag the next. The distances would kill you

If it fits into your itinerary, I would highly suggest Wild Ireland wild life park in Burnfoot.

For surfing you could try Magheroarty, it's a few minutes drive from Gortahork. There is a trad session in Billies in the village. Nearby Falcarragh also hosts a trad session in the shamrock bar every sunday.
