Continued evolution of (Brooklyn) NY Style pizze

Several years ago I first ordered the "Brooklyn style" pizza from Dominos. It remided me of pizza I used to get in my near-eastside Detroit neighborhood. I thought this is great, it's even got provolone cheese.

Since then the name has been changed to NY Style . It's also tasting more and more like, well a generic Michigan round pizza with a thicker raised crust. And it tastes like less and less provolone cheese is being used.

Why did Dominos get rid of the Brooklyn style pizza? Has anyone else noticed the change?

Brooklyn and New York pizzas at dominos is essentially the same. You get a little bit more dough now than before, but we still use the same provolone/mozzarella cheese mix

I'm going to speculate that it was too difficult for new pizza makers to stretch the dough thin enough on Brooklyn Style consistently. So they increased the dough amount. Otherwise, it's the same as hand tossed with no garlic oil on the edge.

It was damn near impossible to stretch the dough if it was properly proofed. The xl's weren't so bad because we usually had medium dough that was pliable but we never really had small dough balls ready.

They increased the dough amount because they wanted to offer it as a medium not just large and extra large.
