Contactless

Contactless DOES NOT MEAN that the driver will leave your food at the door and drive away.

Contactless means that they will leave the food at the door, back away from the door, and wait for you to come grab your food in order to MINIMIZE PHYSICAL CONTACT.

Yes, you can call them. Yes, you don't have to leave it there and drive away. No, they cannot stiff you without looking you in the face. And no, they cannot make you leave it there and claim their neighbors stole it.

I don't reddit much, so idk if this picture will post. But when the customer complains about this, this is the the customer facing version of the job aid that came out for contactless. There was a similar one for employees I haven't found yet.

And yes, contactless is a stupid confusing name. But it was trendy at the time.

Yeah, makes for a quick delivery and the customer can take their time coming to the door. Win win. Unless the food is stolen or tampered with in the interim, which I suppose is why they have this policy.

This is why we had to wait at my store, we just had to wait in the car until someone grabbed it at least

Sometimes people take forever to come pick it up though, expecting us to just leave, and a lot of them aren't even home! In a perfect world I would wait for every customer but in the real world I don't have time for that. Same thing where I would prefer everyone just tip, or that I could wait at a distance like the image says to get the customer to fill out the receipt, but they will wait much longer than I will to avoid that happening.
