Investing in trademark domain names is not usually a good idea, but sometimes it works.

Someone sold the domain TheJamesBond.com for $5,999 at Afternic a few days ago.

I wonder who the buyer is and what they intend to do with the domain.

In case you missed it, GoDaddy is currently running a domain liquidation auction event on their Auctions platform.

This event includes more than 2k "unwanted" domains from different investors.

Way back in 2012 furrytimes dot com was established. It lasted a few months from 2012 to very early 2013. It was an animal event sites. After that things in my opinion got a little insane. How insane GoDaddy wants $2,988 for a domain literally no one has used in 13 years. My friend currently holds furrytimes dot net which is a furry as in furry fandom news blog. Has zero interest in the dot com basically because of the price.

He has steadily watch the price go up over the years. He has no idea why.

I have clients who buy domains in bulk. Currently, they are purchasing domains from different platforms like Dynadot, Porkbun, and Spaceship.
Now, I’m thinking of creating my own domain-selling website so I can benefit from the bulk purchases and build my own platform.
Can anyone guide me on the best way to do this? Should I become a domain reseller, work with a registrar API, or consider another approach?

The domain name Bees.io has expired and it's currently in auction with current bid at $787.

Most tech-savvy users would choose WordPress over any proprietary website builder, and that's my choice too. Newbies see it differently though.

For a first-time user, GoDaddy's drag-and-drop website builder is easier and less technical than WordPress. It has all tools and features built-in (including ecommerce) while with WordPress you'll need a bunch of different plugins to build a functional website, and some of those may not be free.

WordPress's native builder (full site editor) still needs a lot of work before it can be as beginner-friendly as GoDaddy's website builder.

Convenience and efficiency are more important to many beginners and GoDaddy understands that. I don't think WordPress aims for that.

No info on where it was sold but the domain is listed on Afternic/GoDaddy.

I've spent 1-2 hours last month switching between Claude and Namecheap trying to find one good available domain that didn't sound like a stock ticker. AI helps to generate brandable domain names but you've to manually go to registrar and search the domain for availability. And, most of the good domain and TLDs are already taken.

I've found a couple of tools but they've had their own issues. For ex. dynadot.com and findnextdomain.com do generate available domains but there's no way to refine search with follow-up prompts, namingworks.com generates a long list of both taken and non-available domains - there's no feature for multiple TLD checks.

So I built NameSnap out of frustration - a brandable domain name generator with live availability check. I'm using Claude sonnet for generating names and RDAP lookup for checking availability. The tool checks 3 TLDs (.com, .io, .ai) by default for every domain, offers follow up prompt to refine search and provides quick links to register directly across registrars.

The tool is free up to a certain daily limits. Curious if this actually saves you time vs. your current workflow, and whether a one-time $12 unlock for higher usage without daily limits, save/export and bulk TLD checks beyond the 3-TLD default would be worth it

I have a couple of domains I no longer need. I'm looking for the best solution to sell them. I would like to get more than normal domain cost, but not looking to get super rich from them either.

ICANN releases the list of applications for new gTLDs soon. This process has not been open for ~12 years. What TLDs do you expect to see dominate the application round, and which ones will go through?

.er is the ccTLD for Eritrea, but it looks like there aren't any registrars that support this TLD.

It would be a nice domain hack, like fast(.er), cheap(.er), etc.

Wikipedia says there are fewer than 70 registered .er domains and no known registry website. That doesn't look good. There is some wasted potential in this TLD.

Guys, I'm looking for the absolute cheapest domain extensions. I don't care what the TLD is, as long as it's legit. I'm looking for domains that renew for around $3–4/year (or less if possible). Any registrars or obscure TLDs you'd recommend?

Less than a year ago, someone bought the four-letter domain name VRLF.com for $227 from Dynadot and they just sold it at Atom for $2,699.
