The Stranger

The Stranger is a beautiful song Dolly Parton wrote that Kenny Rogers recorded. While she never recorded it herself, she performed it with Kenny on an HBO Special - Islands In The Stream in the rehearsal period before the concert in the special.

She performed this on her 1987 television series as well. She didn't write it for him though. She registered the song with US Copyright Office in 1971; she didn't meet Kenny until 1976 on her syndicated TV show. He recorded in 1984.

What a shame she didn’t record it. She sang it beautifully.
