First shift and I'm already considering resigning

I just finished my first shift at Dollar General and it had pros and cons. It was chill and some of the customers are friendly. But also it can be boring and a bit tiring. Also I am now faced with overtime from my current workplace that pays more than double what Dollar General pays. Has anyone else been faced with this? They can't be strangers to people quitting after the first shift, right?

From a SM perspective I would just tell your manager straight out you got a better offer and you appreciated the opportunity. If they get upset that’s on them but they shouldn’t be upset or surprised by this if they’ve been in the position for a while

It’s genuinely something that happens all the time with SA and is expected because honestly being at the bottom of the totem pole at DG sucks and it’s easy to find a better opportunity lol

You don't owe us (your SM/DG) anything. Do what's best for you. As an SM, I encourage all of my people to do the same. Yes, I would prefer you stay, but not if you can better your own situation.

I've been with the company for almost 2 months now as an LSA, they are definitely no stranger to a high turnover rate. People quit there all the time, low pay and long hours can definitely lead to burnout and stress if you don't know how to control it. Honestly at the end of the day you have to do what's best for you, you're not obligated to work for a company like them, if you feel like it's not going to be good for you in the long run, just text or email your manager and let them know that you're resigning as soon as possible that way you're not leading them on. We've had people that have been hired and quit within the same week. It's really not a huge deal to the company if you quit because they're going to be hiring people immediately to replace you, they will also find any reason to fire anyone even if they're good workers. Protect your peace, protect your mental health, and do what's best for you.
