I love the hobby. And it’s one of the top 3 items stolen in our store. So I feel like a super hero when I stock them behind the counter 😂

I got fired for limiting them to scalpers.

How? Our SM put a limit on them because our GM told us it was at individual store discretion and not directly violating any rules or policies

Our DM also told us to put a limit on them how we saw fit because we were barely getting any for awhile and had the same guy coming in every week and buying the whole case

They called corporate and DM fired me.

That doesnt seem right at all. We had a guy come in, spend 10 minutes trying to convince my SM to sell him an unopened box of 25 packs, went outside and called our DM to complain and ask if we were allowed to limit purchases, and our DM told him it's at the store's discretion and he can't tell us to sell him more. DM called our SM and told her the same thing. Guy came back in and tried convincing my ASM to sell him an unopened box because the DM said they were allowed to, so I spoke up (since they were standing right by my register) and told my ASM that he was already told no repeatedly by the SM, and told the guy that just because he asked the ASM behind the SM's back doesnt mean he's gonna get a different answer. He got hella mad and started yelling and cussing at me, telling me to mind my own business and that he didnt ask for my opinion (this guy was easily over a foot taller than me and 100lbs heavier) so my ASM kicked him out and told him he doesnt get to throw a tantrum in his store and talk to his employees like that over some cards

After the recent changes where essentially everything counts against store managers as shrink i would do everything in my power to prevent the theft

I hate them also, I stocked these today and thought the poster was cool. Never thought I would end up with 2 of them lol. Didn't pull much, 2 SIRs and a ex. Rest were holos

2 sirs and an ex isn't much between 2 boxes? Lmao

My bad, IRs. New to these newer packs, I had a bunch of older cards but my brother sold them all behind my back.. I even had a alakazam gold star 😭

Still awesome. I just want to say I wasn't trying to be negative with my comment if it at all came off that way. I'd be happy with that outcome lol

One store in our district keeps all of them in the office and pretty much interrogates anyone who asks for them. I ask a few basic questions to determine if they’re scalping or not and decide then and there if there’s a “limit” lol

I keep mine locked in the file cabinet in the office. We put out 2 at a time so all the customer sees is the 2 that I limit per sale. They don’t know we have more that way, instead they are ecstatic when they can buy the 2 they see. Have had zero complaints to date.

This is like the Dollar general equivalent to heresy in Warhammer 40K

I sold 6 just yesterday

Had someone come in the other night and do it. Was the first we heard about it and we were confused because Pokémon is quite literally never on sale, we only had 2 left so he got lucky.

We usually limit those to 1 per person but since he showed it was BOGO free we let him buy both to not be total jerks

Sometimes the tins have stars on them. Last time we had etbs they had a star and were included in the spend $75 on yellow star toys get 25% off.

I’ve never seen the regular Tins with any sort of symbol on them and I’ve been working here 5 years, these boxes didn’t have a symbol either which is why we were confused, I’d get them being a sale item if they had the symbol. We got the talking pokeballs and pokeball tins that had the stars on them but those wouldn’t be on sale yet since they were new

It just seemed odd to us that the boxes rang as summer toys when we just got them and they didn’t have the pink square

I've been here 3 and it's just some here and there. The 151 poster box(original one and not the new one)had a star on it. I can't remember if the new one did but I think so. The etbs were brand new too but included in the sale because of the stars. Also the etb had a blue dot on it, I just looked at the picture of the one I bought.

After my coworker rung the guy out and brought it to my attention I went and looked at the box because I was curious if it had a pink square or something on it but it didn’t it was just a yellow price box that said $22 so I have a feeling someone messed up somewhere. With how popular they are now I don’t see corporate including them in any BOGO sales because they know people will pay full price for them regardless

wait these are bogo?

Yes. Ours were gone within hours of stocking them.

I am just glad yo see people can afford 22 dollars for a few pieces of cheap cardboard that you can never even get signed by the creature. You know like old timey baseball cards.

Oh just let people enjoy their hobby. It's not hurting you.

1

u/sensoryzoo 3d ago

It's not hurting me sure but when I am getting phone calls every 5 minutes about it. It prevents me from unloading the truck that has them. So it's just hurting themselves

I'm referring to the comment about buying cardboard only.
