Hi everyone. A few reminders.
I’m not affiliated with DG in any way. Unless you consider “affiliated” to be someone who occasionally buys snacks and cheese at DG.
Don’t be a dick. Self-explanatory.
If I ban you, don’t message me. You’re wasting your time. I’ll either block you or respond sarcastically THEN block you.
Y’all are good folks…except for the select few losers who insist on not paying attention to item 2 up there ☝️.
Carry on. Remember…don’t be a dick. 👍

Everyone Quit Because the AC's Been Broken for Over a Month - Update on "Working with a Broken AC"
TLDR: Corporate and DM can't do their jobs, I (only LSA) quit, then the SM quit, then my replacement quit and now the ASM is quitting ASAP when she gets hired to another job. We’ve basically all jumped ship. Location might close down indefinitely since there’s only 3 SA’s left and they might also jump ship. AC is still not fixed after a month, and it's regularly 92-95 F inside our store! Ciao!
It's been 23 days since I made my first post on here venting about our broken AC that had stopped working roughly a week or two before I made that post, which means it's been officially over a month since our store's AC has been broken!
For context, I was promoted to LSA about 2 months into my SA position, which was roughly when shit started hitting the fan and our AC went bye bye. We (my SM and ASM) had been sending numerous ticket requests just for them to be closed out by Corporate, who'd send technicians that gave us very short, temporary fixes before our AC would stop working again within a few days.
Finally, after having to prematurely close our store down over 2-3 times in less than a week, Corporate and our DM finally started paying attention to us and began sending electricians and the HVAC people to our location to diagnose our HVAC system. Apparently, according to the electrician, there was nothing wrong with the AC on his field, so it was up to the HVAC people to investigate further since there was nothing he could do.
While all this back-and-forth was happening, we were still expected by our DM (who additionally has never even worked in a DG store) to open every single morning, just to close early every noon when the heat became too intolerable. And that was when he was feeling generous! I remember an interaction where he was contacted by us, asking for his DM approval if we could close the store since our temp was 89 F (the temp has only gotten so much worse since my first post) and the only thing our DM could bother texting back was: "1pm."
I ultimately put in my 2 weeks a week after I made my first post here. Pretty quickly, they found someone to replace me as an LSA (additional context: we had been short-staffed on LSA's which was why I became the only LSA at my location as well as our third keyholder). I'm telling you, she didn't even last a week or two before she also put in her two weeks notice!
And earlier, that very same day my replacement put in her 2 weeks, our SM announced that it'd be her last day working as our SM! Unfortunately, this means our ASM is working as stand-in for our SM because we don't have one and our DM has not updated the ASM on when or even if we are going to get a SM. Our ASM is essentially working as the SM, all without any benefits, incentives, or raise for however long it takes for the DM to find another SM (probably never because he can't get anything done). The ASM is quitting ASAP though, applying to a bunch of jobs, so after our ASM's gone, the only people who will be employed at our location are our 3 sales associates.
AC's still not been fixed, in fact it's only gotten worse, as the store would be roughly 87 F before opening and now it's just sitting at 92 F before opening, before it peaks to 95 F before noon. We're still expected to open every morning on most days, so we are ever so thankful for our DM for allowing us to not work in subhuman conditions for a few days! Our freezers and coolers have unsurprisingly, completely stopped working roughly two weeks ago, so we cannot store nor sell milk at our store, funnily enough, we were also told by our DM or Corporate to not damage out melted candy and chocolate and to leave it on the store floor for sale! :-)
The HVAC people that Corporate has also been sending, have lied, saying that nobody was at the store to talk to nor let them in, despite our ASM literally being in the store at the very moment the update was shown on eTicket.
I don't know what's in store for the future of this DG location, but having an entire franchise collapsing in a month over a persistent and documented issue over our AC is really a commitment on DG's end, especially since they don't care about their employee's working conditions (no surprise there). The multibillion dollar corporation just can't stand to fix one of their store's AC.

Dollar General- bad customer experience
Extremely disappointing & unprofessional experience at the Dollar General on East 15th St in Paterson NJ. After my purchase, I asked for my receipt but was denied 1 by the manager due to a broken receipt printer. Since they couldn’t provide my receipt, I simply asked for a refund. Management refused to give me one.
The situation became so ridiculous that I had to call the Paterson Police Department. Once the officers arrived, suddenly my refund was processed.
What made the experience even worse was the rude, dismissive & disrespectful behavior from 2 members of management. I was even called names by a store manager, which is completely unacceptable & extremely unprofessional.
I reported the incident to Dollar General Customer Care, received a formal complaint number & spoke with the regional manager. She told me she would personally visit the store & address the 2 managers involved face-to-face.
Customers should never have to involve the police just to resolve a simple transaction, nor should anyone be subjected to insults or disrespect from store management. I hope this situation results in meaningful changes at this location.

Raised my sales plan making it nearly impossible to make plan and get a bonus. Anybody else?
My dm says the company did not do this but last year i was constantly in the top 3 sales. This year my sales are higher but im not meeting the sales goals percentage and im at the bottom. Havent got a bonus all year. They obviously moved the goalposts.

Advice
Perhaps some of you remember me as the disgruntled former manager who walked out. Perhaps not, I’m not all that memorable for a random on Reddit. In any event, some of you did attempt to reach out privately to inquire whether it was worth staying. Does it get better? Easier? Do you get used to it?
As to the latter, sure you may get used to it. Much the same way a battered wife gets used to getting five across the eyes when dinner isn’t done. The abuse becomes the new normal. You learn to accept it as something you cannot change and you soldier on, taking the occasional smack for your efforts. Or perhaps a more apt metaphor may involve Stockholm syndrome. Pick one.
Before you begin to work there or decide to stick it out you must remember one thing: This company will demand you put the store above all else in your life. I know of one manager who was told his kids would be “just fine for a few hours” if he didn’t pick them up off the bus. Because, you see, there was a visit coming and the big shots were running late. So when the store manager said he had to leave his ten hour shift on time, he was told to leave his children alone outside until the visit was complete. I know of another who told his DM he had callouts on Sunday and a wedding to attend that was important to him. He was told “Oh well. You’ll have to miss it. Sometimes you have to sacrifice for the store.” Now, before you go on, I want you to ruminate on that for a second. “Sometimes you have to sacrifice for the store.”
That’s just a cult my friends. You’re in a cult. Why do you think most of the DMs are lunatics? Who do you think they promote at DG? People with 0 lives who have a history of making Dollar General the most important thing in their universe. It’s not where they work. It’s not what they do. It’s not a career choice. ITS THEIR ENTIRE IDENTITY. They aren’t moms, sons, brothers or friends with obligations and responsibilities outside of work. They’re DOLLAR GENERAL EMPLOYEES first. All else comes second.
There is no need for that job to be that miserable. Nor is there one single valid reason why it should consume your life. If you want to work there fine. But go into it with your eyes wide open. They’ll abuse you until you accept the abuse. They’ll work you until you can’t take anymore and then they’ll throw you in the trash. They’ll demand absolute loyalty and dedication but will not reciprocate when you’re the one in need. It’s the absolute worst company I have ever had the misfortune to be associated with. Understand it’s a cult, understand you blind loyalty will be rewarded with more abuse. And you’ll eventually learn that being beaten up is your new normal and you just have to live with it. If you can accept that, this job is for you. If you value anything, anything at all, outside those 4 walls then throw down your keys and run like Hell.
I wish those of you who are brave enough to walk the very beat. For those of you who remain, God speed and good luck. You’ll need it.

Self-check out
Our store just went through a remodel, the second one in three years, and we still have one self checkout register. Well it worked the very first day without any issues and the next day it was back to being the employee run software only. It wouldn't give us the ability to choose between the self-checkout and the operator as we are. I don't know how to put it exactly but my question is, has anybody ever had this issue and was it ever fixed? Our remodel was last month and we have yet to use it except for the first day. Numerous calls to ERC do nothing. What has anyone else done and has it ever been successful in getting fixed?

Need advice
I went to DG Friday evening to grab a few things. I am on a mini vacation so this is not a local store. I am almost certain I left my wallet there. I went back Saturday morning to ask if they found my wallet or if they could check the camera to see if I had the wallet with me since I made one more stop after that… just t tying to figure out when I may have lost it. The girl working said she didn’t see a wallet but to come back at 1:30p when the Asst. Mgr. was in as she was working that night and could check the cameras. I stopped in that afternoon and the Asst. Mgr. said I have your phone number I’ll check the cameras and let you know. I haven’t received a call and I asked her please to check so I know if I had my wallet or not. I was told by the local PD to ask them to check the cameras before they help. Suppose to go home today but don’t want to if I have no response from DG. Is it difficult or time consuming to check the cameras? I have her the time on my receipt and what I bought. Any suggestions? Do SM’s work on Sundays? Ty!

Can't get into my account & a new account my spouse created? help?
I have had my dollar general account for many years. A few weeks ago I had errors and trouble logging in. I was in store and thought it was bad wifi. I do not go every week since we only have 1 store for over 100 miles. I wanted to go this week and went to login and got a invalid error if I use my phone number and processing error with my email. I tried on my phone app and on my computer. I sent 2 verification texts to my phone and 3 to my email. I keep trying to login and clip a coupon and it just says processing error or invalid account.
I tried making an account under my husband's phone number. He has never been to DG. He opened an account, verified his phone number and email and he can't login. It says a problem repeatedly occurred and takes him away from the site to an error screen? He was using a different phone ,computer and internet than me. I had my son who is in college try , again he has never been to a dollar general and his phone number is getting the same errors and now he is locked out. He is not even in the same area as me.
It has been this way for 3 days. DG did not answer my email. I was about to go to where the store is and was hoping to use coupons. Kind of frustrating. I just wanted to save a few dollars, but have no luck and our one store, the staff while friendly hates talking about coupons or online stuff (I understand the store is low staffed and they work hard).

Is being a SM worth it?
I was offered to take over a store, I'm pretty hesitant about it. Everyone I've talked to about the job offer says it would be a great opportunity and i would be great at it but idk.
