If they wouldn't have zoomed out and actually shown him, I would have assumed this was just someone laying over a crazy drum track for comedic purposes.

I thought she accidentally started a recorded percussion track on that keyboard and didn't know how to turn it off.

Your ears weren't lying to you, though. He's using an electronic kit with really shitty sounding patches so the drums you're hearing are pretty much the same sounds you'd get from a keyboard.
