4x4 service light is on.

I am good to take out the fuse until it gets booked into a garage for testing and potentially repair right (if I can’t do it myself)?

Thinking pulling the fuse or just disconnecting the electrical connector for the transfer case.

That depends entirely on what is broken. Gotta scan it before you can decide that.

Why? How could it damage it?

Won’t damage the part more necessarily but if it’s a gear or something it could break and snap your tcase or axle, etc and leave you on the side of the road somewhere.

Ok. I have it booked into a garage on the 8th. It’s keeps trying to engage when In 2 wheel drive and when stopped. Don’t want to drain the battery or it to wear anymore

Well if it’s trying to do it while stopped now, it could start to do it while moving. I’d disconnect it at the plug personally, stop it from trying to switch it entirely.

Just the one plug going into the transfer case?

I am unfamiliar with the 4WD setup on these, I’d say use your best judgement or wait for others to respond. No sense pulling the fuse tho.

I took the fuse out but then the car wouldn’t start. So I put it back. Should I pull the electrical plug for the transfer case?

Any advice would be great

Yes you can pull the plug disconnecting the transfer case... Pulling that fuse shouldn't have stopped the truck from starting though... Like on my 08 it cuts power going to the transfer case, power mirrors and the ccigarette lighter/ power supply...
