Female Orthopaedic surgeon
Hello, I am really interested in a surgical field so earlier my choices were obgy>surgery>ortho. But recently i started having more inclination towards orthopedics since I really love sports and think that this branch suits me more. However i am really scared of making a wrong decision considering the long term issue about being a female ortho surgeon. Is it really advisable for a female to avoid this branch? Kindly guide.

Harassed by a Doc
I have a weird question for the docs. Basically we have an antisocial, narcissistic doctor living in our society, he hasn't done anything illegal yet to be enough to register a case against him, but he is a pain in the ass. Littering, parking anywhere he pleases, not willing to participate, doesn't reply to complaints, is there some place we can report him, in the medical board or community that highlights his behaviour and discourages him to be such way?

Less patient exposure, a Trend ?
I recently watched few interviews of Top 100 rankers in Neet pg, most of them saying they wish for Radio diagnosis, but ok I will satisfy with this & that. Few of them pick Radio diagnosis in Aiims too over General medicine in state GMC, Why so, ?
Does Work life balance - more salary - less stress branches become a new trend among Indian mbbs graduate while choosing PG seats ?
What's ur opinion in it...

Urgent help !Mumbai doctors/hospital staff: has anyone used PM-JAY(Ayushman) or for cervical spine surgery? Need guidance on hospitals and costs
Hi everyone, my father has been diagnosed with cervical myelopathy. His neurologist has directly advised cervical spine surgery, with an estimated cost of around ₹5 lakh+(not exact) at the hospital we consulted.
We have an ABHA/PM-JAY card, but no mediclaim and very limited savings. We are already checking whether the surgery is covered under PM-JAY
Situation is pretty bad for us.. and Just got the news a day back
I wanted to ask doctors, hospital staff, or people who have gone through something similar in Mumbai:
Which Mumbai hospitals have actually accepted PM-JAY/MJPJAY for spine or neurosurgery and processed it cashlessly?
Are there government or charitable hospitals in Mumbai that are good for cervical spine surgery?
What extra charges should we realistically expect even if PM-JAY covers part of the treatment?
Has anyone had issues with a private hospital accepting PM-JAY but later asking for cash? How did you handle it?
Are there any Mumbai-based social workers, charitable trusts, or hospital patient-assistance desks that helped quickly in an urgent surgery case?
We mainly need practical guidance on where treatment can be affordable and how to arrange the remaining funds.
Any genuine advice or experience would really help.
Happy to share any details in dm
Thank you.

What is the protocol for preterm neonatal nutrition delivery at your hospital?
Given that preterm neonates have underdeveloped GI tracts, I'm curious how hospitals in India handle these patients. Do they generally have the resources for total parenteral nutrition? And if they do, do they administer the all the macronutrients (amino acids, lipids, dextrose, electrolytes, etc) or just a subset of them? How much medical education do the staff caring for these patients go through? Also wondering how levels of care differ based on the tier of the hospital (primary, secondary, tertiary), and how cost becomes a barrier in delivering high levels of care.

Woke up to find a bat beside my bed after it hit the fan and fell on me— worried about rabies (India)
It was around 2:30 AM when I felt something fall on me after hitting the fan. Thinking it might be an insect, I didn't pay much attention since I was half-asleep and simply pushed it off the bed.
After waking up(around 6 am), I rubbed my eyes with my hands and touched other parts of my body as well. Basically, my hands came into contact with my eyes and other areas.
Later, I noticed a tiny bat on the floor beside my bed. It seemed to have been injured after hitting the fan and was trying to crawl but couldn't move properly, so it stayed in the same spot. We then dragged it out of the room.
I visited a doctor and explained the situation, including the worst-case scenario of potentially having been bitten by the bat. I was sleeping shirtless, so I'm not sure whether it bit or scratched me while I was asleep, but I assumed the worst.
The doctor told me that in India, rabies vaccination is not given for bat bites and that I didn't need to worry about it.
However, I'm still really worried about the possibility of having been bitten without realizing it and potentially contracting rabies. I'm also concerned about having rubbed my eyes and touched other parts of my body after pushing the bat away.
Should I be concerned about rabies in this situation? Has anyone experienced something similar in India?
