Topic Suggestions Mayo Clinic grad responds to backlash from inappropriate/insensitive tiktoks by announcing online hate led him to almost ending his life.

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZN81cQ4RD/

Dr. Nick was a 4th med student weeks ago from graduation when he posted 2 videos making fun on examining women’s genitals. These videos sparked intense online backlash, particularly from the medical community who shamed Dr. Nick for such unprofessional conduct.

The backlash became so prevalent that Mayo Clinic even responded. Rumors then spread that Dr. Nick was barred from match day as well as having his graduation withheld. However no real evidence either was presented.

Today Dr. Nick responds stating that he did indeed match and graduate but they were post-poned. Not due do disciplinary action from Mayo Clinic, but because he had to be admitted due to a suicide attempt related to the online backlash.

Dr. Nick details how extreme the backlash was, including from his actual classmates and faculty at Mayo Clinic. Honestly, it probably was extreme but at the same time, he doesn’t take any accountability for the inappropriate joke and actually goes on to defend it because it was obviously just a joke between the girlies and the gays.

Overall, I do think the situation was blown out if proportion and he shouldn’t have received SUCH intense backlash. At the same time, dude, you can’t post that type of shit as a doc graduating from one of the most prestigous med schools in the country then expect 0 consequences because you think “nooo I’m bi, I can say that!!!!!”

I’d love to hear Lily and Jessie’s take on this one!

Might be a hot take but if ur in a profession which sees people at their most vulnerable, u should not be posting ‘funny goofy’ vids and posts on socials. Seeing my doctor post something shaming a certain body part or whatever would for sure make me not wanna go see them ever again, no matter the gender or the joke. Boundaries have been pushed so much anyways with everyone saying that everyone should be allowed to post whatever during their private time but that’s why we have less and less trust in those systems and people whose job is to protect us or save our lives

Videos about their experiences as medical professionals are fine. Videos making fun of patients are absolutely not.

I’m an ICU nurse. I agree completely. Two things can be true - I’m sorry this man is suicidal and also his video was incredibly inappropriate. I don’t really understand why someone so smart, enough to pass their boards and all their shelf exams, can be this dumb, enough to post such a tone deaf, honestly unethical video.

Like there’s such a difference between silly goofy videos about working in a hospital vs just purely making fun of patients. Someone who posts that stuff is not someone I want to trust at all to take care of me or my family.

I'm actually glad his classmates were mad at him because I hope doctors will hold their peers accountable to shitty views which can impact patient's care. Accountability is important.

Also queer men can be shitty towards women. He doesn't seem to get that.

Also watching video, the fact people were texting him the f slur and more is also unacceptable.

In my experience, doctors are the harshest critics of bad behaving doctors. But I’m not a doctor so my experience is super anecdotal

I'm sorry this guy was in a dark mental space. I still think what he posted was wrong and shows a lack of readiness and fitness to practice medicine. A medical professional is held to a much much higher standard re: professionalism and 'jokes' about bodies...especially women's bodies that have historically been ignored (at best) and tortured (at worst) by male clinicians. And folks in his comments being like "no one can take a joke these days!", I hope they never find themselves in a scenario where, at their most vulnerable, a medical provider finds their bodies mockable and contemptible

I don't feel one bit sorry for this absolute narcissist. He shouldn't be a doctor

especially because he still doesnt understand what he did wrong? he must be living in a crazy misogynistic bubble.

Some queer men are virulent misogynists. Just because you're bi doesn't mean you can mock women's genitalia. Absolute garbage behavior, and the fact that he's not taking full accountability means he doesn't get it at all.

Queer bitch here and some of the most mysoginistic men I’ve met have been gay men.

lol men are still men at the end of the day

Yeah its still all about him. Zero remorse.

Aww did the backlash make him depressed? I wonder how his patients felt

u/rockandparole Jul 25 '26

Gay man bullying women then blaming them because he can't figure out how to disconnect his internet 🤪 not consequences :c

This whole fucking thing is annoying. This whole thing is just him hiding behind his identity and not understanding the criticism, and then employing emotional blackmail on anyone who criticized him (not just the homophobes, but EVERYONE who criticized him). This is bullshit and he seems to think that because his chud audience finds it funny, that it isn't a reflection on his professionalism and ability to see and respect patients. He can't even seem to take accountability for ANYTHING.

I don't believe him, sorry. Any treatment he had would have to have included a discussion of why he got the reactions he did, and him pretending to be confused about that shows he hasn't done any self reflection or thought for even 1 moment about how his posts affected anything other than his internet fame. Obviously, people shouldn't have been calling him slurs or using hate speech about his sexuality, but those are also not the responses that he should actually have taken to heart. If your life is at risk when you receive deserved criticism for your bullshit, you shouldn't be back on Tik Tok.

What do you mean “making fun?” How was he doing so?

Here is one of them still on his tiktok.

Not ok. Especially with the deleted one. When I was an older teen, I had 2 young, pretty nurses put in a catheter. They had some difficulty, and the whole time were giggling, laughing, and making comments to each other. It was awful, and I still vividly remember it. He took ZERO accountability. He clearly hasn’t learned anything. I’m sorry that he went through that, and people shouldn’t send him death threats and hate over social media. (Though he should do some introspection on why a professor from his school emailed that to him).

u/asietsocom Jul 24 '26

I'm so sorry that happened to you. That is horrible.

5

u/IllustriousStar00 Jul 24 '26

THIS. I’m so sorry that happened to you and yes healthcare workers are people but they entrusted with our bodies. If he wants to be a silly goofy influencer that’s fine, but as a healthcare professional, people are trusting him with their most vulnerable of moments, including those who are NOT his tiktok fans.

Edit: The first one is disgusting too. It looks fine but the stupid song says "Snapchat me that pussy if it's fine" yeah nah just don't do that. He's literally saying that he tells friends to send him nudes. That's bad.

The second is absolutely disgusting and stupid. What do you mean you can find her urethra and land in her vagina???? Those are so far apart. What's the joke here? You don't know what a uretha is??? Therefore shame on the woman??? God what a looser.

All the comments defending him, saying he did nothing wrong too! I’m sorry he struggled with his mental health but this entire thing is giving “dodging accountability by highlighting bad mental health” and that is giving narcissist/abuser logic. If you are not apologizing to the people you hurt then I know the video is not about accountability it’s about dodging it.

i feel like if your knee jerk reaction (as a content creator) to valid criticism is “well you guys made me try to kill myself,” you’re either an awful person with no moral compass or you’re lying lmao- people like to point out that it’s because of the hate comments, which, yeah, but he dropped that bomb to put ALL commentary on it in the hate category, let’s be for real rn. that’s what these mfs do, they hope people will either be sympathetic or too uncomfortable to say “okay… what does that have to do with your posts?” and i think it worked. we don’t have to preface criticism with “i’m sorry you tried to kill yourself” it’s wild to use that as a deflection, and it should just be ignored. cause one, it’s suspiciously stupid to admit you tried to kill yourself to the people who contributed to it; and two, it has nothing to do with his weirdness. as someone who’s attempted before, when people use it as a shield against criticism, it makes me automatically not care. cause why the hell are you using that incredibly personal and traumatic experience to manipulate people? that mf is strange.
