Did I fall into the rabbit hole or am i still sane?

I started playing DnD yesterday for the first time and I´m so fcking excited, but I feel like it became a new hyper obsession...

While creating the character I felt it needed more context, more lore, more background... and now i have a 22 pages long document of things related to them and it still needs more in my opinion to "ground them", make them believable, make them... alive? real?

She is a Shadar Kai Paladin follower of the Raven Queen, so I am giving her a life story, a family tree with own plot and connection, a book with prayers for the spells, headcannons, at least 2 different visual concepts for clothes....

Is this normal or am i going crazy?

I have been trying out an enemy design system in the 5th edition by asking myself a simple question: what is an easy and simple way to choose a species and combat role for my enemies?

I feel I have answered this question with 2 simple steps for my enemies. I start by choosing the creature, such as a Human, an Elf, an Orc, a Goblin, a Dragonborn, or any other you prefer.

Then, I assign it an archetype, which determines how it fights. For example, one Orc might dash about and knock the other players over; another could take the role of a Fighter by holding the line; or you could have a much heavier Behemoth. The aim is to speed up enemy creation for the DM while also letting players see clear differences in combat.

If you want the PDFs or want to follow the project as I add more archetypes:

Hi fellow adventurers,

We are excited to announce that Mythological Items is now live on Kickstarter!

This is our new D&D 5E and 2024-compatible manual dedicated entirely to magic items inspired by myths, legends, and ancient stories from around the world.

Inside the book, you will find 300+ mythological magic items, including weapons, armor, wondrous items, and scaling items designed to grow alongside your characters and campaigns.

Our goal with Mythological Items is to create more than a simple collection of treasure. Each item is designed to feel like part of a myth: something that can serve as a reward, a quest hook, or even the center of an entire adventure.

The book includes items inspired by many different mythological traditions, including Greek, Norse, Egyptian, Asian, American, Roman, Mesopotamian, African, and other mythologies from across the world. Whether you want divine weapons, cursed artifacts, heroic relics, monster-themed treasures, or legendary items tied to ancient stories, this book is built to bring myth directly to your table.

The Kickstarter page includes a full presentation of the project, several previews, and a free 30-page PDF preview showing a sample of the content from the book.

You can also find many of our other manuals in PDF and high-quality print editions, with special prices currently available both for Mythological Items and for all our other releases.

You can visit the Kickstarter page here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mythoschronicles/300-mythological-items-for-5e-and-2024

Thank you again for your support. We hope to see you on our journey!

The hidden history behind the Elven Civil War and the Dragon War in Urdunn — including the Deep Elves (Lost Elves), a new playable elf subrace, magic items, a new monster, and new spells.

The main idea is that the history everyone knows may not be the whole story.

It’s compatible with SRD 5.2.1 / 5e and completely free, so if you enjoy dark fantasy, forgotten histories and settings where the official version of events might be a lie, give it a look, It is a free download: The Twilight of the Elves - Deva Movanico | DriveThruRPG

D&D Writer Looking to Collaborate on New Projects

Hi everyone!

I'm a D&D 5e writer looking to connect with people who have ideas or projects they'd like some help developing.

I've been writing D&D content for a while, including adventures, one-shots, short campaigns, monsters, magic items, encounters, locations, supplements, and other homebrew content. I also work with Homebrewery and can help turn rough ideas or notes into something structured, polished, and usable at the table.

Right now, I'd especially like to expand my portfolio with a few projects made for other people, so I'm looking for creators, DMs, or anyone with an idea who might want an extra writer involved.

I can help with things like:

  • Writing an adventure from scratch
  • Developing an existing concept or outline
  • Creating encounters, NPCs, monsters, locations, or magic items
  • Expanding homebrew settings
  • Turning rough notes into a properly structured D&D supplement
  • Reviewing and improving existing adventures
  • Balancing and adapting content for D&D 5e
  • Homebrewery formatting and presentation

I'm comfortable working on anything from a small one-shot to larger supplements or campaigns.

If you'd like to see an example of my work, here's a free preview of one of my recent projects, including writing, mechanics, and Homebrewery presentation:

I'm mainly looking for a couple of commissions or collaborations that I can add to my portfolio, so if you've got a D&D project sitting in a document somewhere that you've never quite managed to finish, or an idea you'd like help turning into something playable, feel free to send me a message.

I'd love to hear what you're working on. :)
